By the way, western people are very good at making desert and chocolate. They can make very good cake and chocolate. They are very sweet but it’s sort of food which make you become fat quickly.

春节，一个亲切的词，一个熟悉的词，一个暖暖洋洋的词。一个迎春送旧的节日，一个让人欢天喜地的节日……

春节里最让我们小孩子欢喜的莫过于除夕了。因为除夕那一天晚上可热闹了。家中男女老少都聚首一堂，从远方赶回来的亲戚和家里人诉说着思念之情;许多男人都在一起谈论生意上的事情;许多女人都在厨房忙着做年饭;孩子们则在一边玩着个种游戏。

开饭了，我们大家都坐在饭桌边。我们小孩可最高兴了，因为在吃饭时间可以吃到许许多多美味佳肴。可是你别以为孩子们可都贪吃!我的弟弟就是个例外。在我们吃得满脸是油，一幅馋猫相，他就满地走，碰碰这个，摸摸那个，可好奇了!

吃着了饭，大人们还在不断谈话，不时传出了笑声，气氛融洽到了不时欢声雷动地高举酒杯来干一杯，好一个酒逢知己千杯少。年饭过后，大人们都到客厅或茶厅取去继续谈话。我们小孩子蜂拥地去继续做游戏。

你可不有以为春节就这样结束了，春节还得继续呢!这个接下来就该轮到放烟花的正月初七了。

正月初七，我们一家人买了烟花就直奔空地上去。我们一开始就拿起一根一根的烟花，这种烟花可以拿在手中，只要把它的前头点亮，它就会绽放出五颜六色的烟火。这种烟花叫做“根根亮”。跟着，我们又拿“根根亮”去点“烟花泉”。我们一下子点亮了五个“烟花泉”，“烟花泉”把周围照地十分亮，就如火树银花一样照亮整个天空。我们又点了许许多多“地炮”。“地炮”一点亮，它就在地上“刷，刷，刷”地打转了起来，就像小说中的风火轮一样，在它的身边喷出许多火花。在最后，我们还放了几个大烟花。

春节，这个亲切、熟悉而又暖暖洋洋的词给我们一家带来多少喜悦……

春节是中华民族的传统节日，差不多在腊月初旬就开始。

这个时候，孩子们已放假，大人们也忙碌着买衣服、蔬菜等春节必备物。随着鞭炮声的逐渐稠密，春节就来临。

“腊七腊八，冻死寒鸦。”这是一年里最冷的一天。在腊八这天，家家都要熬腊八粥。腊八粥是用各种米、各种豆与各种干果熬成的。每一碗粥都是一场农业展览会。

腊月二十三过小年，这一天是要祭灶的，人们在灶台的墙上贴好灶王爷的画像，画像前摆上整只公鸡或整只猪头，在点上两只蜡，上三柱香，放上贡品。待三柱香燃尽后，用手将蜡烛扇灭，切莫不可用吹的，否则便是对灶王的不敬。

过二十三，就要大扫除。窗帘、床单、被套、枕巾必须洗一遍，墙裙、玻璃也得擦干净，以显出万象更新的派头。

到除夕，就可以穿新衣服。对联、门花都要在下午三点前贴好。这天晚上，一家人嗑着瓜子、吃着糖、喝着饮料，看着热闹的春节联欢晚会。到十二点钟，各家各户鞭炮齐鸣，还必须守岁。

从正月初一开始，就要到亲戚朋友家拜年。小一辈的人领着孩子，带着礼物到老辈家里拜年，老辈要给小辈的孩子发压岁钱。

元宵上市，又一个春节的高潮到。正月十五，各单位各部门都会挂出各式各样的花灯来，有旋转式的，有卡通式的，也有象征企业或单位的辉煌业绩的，各具特色，令人应接不暇。接下来，就该烟花出场，随着花炮的燃放声，一朵朵漂亮的烟花在空中怒放……

就这样，春节就在欢呼声与燃放声中落幕。

The term "Guo Nian", which may mean "Survive the  Nian" becomes today "Celebrate the (New) Year" as the word "guo" in Chinese  having both the meaning of "pass-over" and "observe". The custom of putting up  red paper and firing fire-crackers to scare away Nian should it have a chance to  run loose is still around. However, people today have long forgotten why they  are doing all this, except that they feel the color and the sound add to the  excitement of the celebration.
