Today, the chinese teacher taught us some English songs. I like the song which is called ”seasons in the sun” very much. We all lost ourselves in the beautiful voice. Today our theme is youth. After the teacher spoke. I suddenly understand that maybe being young is our advantage, so we must value every minute. We have to do something significant.

The Lunar New Year

The Lunar New Year occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first four days of the year, during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. Students do not go to school, and shops are closed.

Several days before the new year, people begin to prepare. Farmers kill pigs, sheep, cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. Houses are cleaned; couplets are posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.

On the eve of the new year, each family has its members gatherd together and eats a family reunion dinner. After the meal they watch TV until the clock strickes twelve. Then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers and other fireworks to welcome the new year. On the first day of the new year, almost everyone is dressed in his or her best. Whenpeople meet on the way, they say to each other "Happy New Year". Friends and relatives pay new year calls and gives presents to each other. Children indulge themselves in games.

小时候，我曾效仿大人们，在墙角的空地上种过一棵玉米，从它冒出嫩黄嫩黄的玉米芽儿开始，我就给它浇水、施肥。许多人都说，单棵的玉米是长不高的，因为没有别的玉米和它比，就像孩子吃饭，如果没有别的孩子和他争着吃，饭是不香的。我不信。

一个月后，不知什么时候，玉米秆上爬上了一条凌霄的藤蔓，水蛇一般顺着玉米秆往上攀缘，已经和玉米齐高了。再过一个月，玉米长得比我还要高出半截，还开花了，懂农事的大人们又说，还是赶紧拔掉这棵玉米吧，单独的一棵，既不能授粉，又不能结玉米，只能当柴烧。

我还是坚持把玉米留了下来。几天后，凌霄开花了，整棵玉米如穿上了火红的裙子，非常喜人，本来是一个墙角，破天荒地竟招来了蜂蝶，嘤嘤嗡嗡地飞舞其间。

那个秋天，玉米秆上结出了四个大个头的玉米，个个籽粒饱满，玉米秆上的凌霄开了整整两个多月，成了整个墙角的动人风景。

大人们看似牢不可破的经验被打破了，他们也在纳闷，这样的玉米怎么会结果呢?

后来，他们悟出了道理，原来是凌霄和玉米互相帮助。孤零零的一棵玉米，本来是没有劲头往上长的，突然凌霄为自己的身体增加了重量，它若不往上长，势必会被凌霄缠死。于是，玉米为了免于灭亡，拼命地积聚能量强大自己，此刻的玉米是在和自己较劲，战胜了自己，它也就赢得了这场战争的胜利。后来，凌霄开花了，帮玉米招来了蜂蝶，那些蜂蝶有的来自田间的玉米丛里，尾部沾上了田间的花粉，竟阴差阳错地给墙角的这棵玉米授了粉。

跟自己较量，和别人共用能量，原来这就是玉米和凌霄实现共赢的奥秘啊!把这一道理延伸到我们的生活中，不也是如此吗?
