I am a December 2003 graduate from the University of San Francisco (USF) with a bachelors degree in International Business. As part of my career planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business education with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language. This I hope will help me enter into business commerce with business organizations partnering with Chinas economic development.

I already have information from BLCU and hope to study there for at least one full year starting with this summers program continuing through the fall and spring semester 2006. Can your office advise me if such scholarships might be available to me?

I have been studying Chinese for one year now. I am not sure what level I belong to. I was told that there will be an HSK test in our university in September. I am planning to attend the test. But I dont know if the result of the test is recognized by your university. If so, can it be a help for me to apply for the scholarship?

Chinese First Spaceman

When I was in high school, one day, my Chinese teacher was so excited to tell us that our country’s first spaceman had landed the space successfully. Hearing the news, all the students felt excited, too, we were so proud that we were Chinese, it meant that our country had stepped into the new stage. 再来算一笔经济帐，一个吸毒者每天至少需要吸食或注射0.1克，而0.1克黑市零售价是一百元，那么一个月就三、四千元，一年就是四、五万元。如此巨额的费用，搞得吸毒者家庭破裂，妻离子散，甚至于为筹措毒资，偷盗抢劫、绑架杀人，走上刑事犯罪的道路。现在社会上流通的毒品主要有、、、、，及其它一些国家管制的和品，这些毒品毒性大、成瘾性强，一旦成瘾，人体脱毒过程十分漫长，吸毒者戒了再吸、吸了再戒，反反复复，有人用一朝吸毒，终生戒毒来形容戒除毒瘾的难度，因此戒毒的最好办法就是绝不吸毒。青少年是父母的希望，他们因为思想不尚未成熟，社会经验不够丰富，自身免疫力较差，加上影视剧的渲染和社会不良分子的拉拢引诱，尝试吸毒最后成瘾难以自拔的事例屡见不鲜，一些青少年因青春期特有的叛逆心理或受家庭和学校压力太大，主动寻求刺激，缓解压力导致铸成大错的事例也大量存在，目前在国内、省内已经出现学生参予吸毒的现象，预防学生吸毒已经是迫在眉睫的一个重大问题，我市又受浙南经济发达地区的影响，其毒品向我市渗透不断加剧，这种局面的严重必须要引起家长的高度警惕。

Our Librar is a busy place.It is open every day from8:00--12:00 in the

morning and from 1:30--5:30 in the after-noon,except on Sundays.

The library contains a large variety of books. in it you will find both

literary and scientific and technical books in Chinese and in foreign

languages.In this building too,are reading-rooms with newspapers and

magazines.Perhaps English books account for over a half of those in foreign

lanuages.

We often go there to look for books which we want to borrow or to read

articles which we like to consult.Our library provides all useful reading matter

and reference materials according to our needs.Although we do not subscribe to

any magazines or newspapers,we are well informed about the recent developments

and new trends in the world as well as in our country.The library plays an

important role in our college life.
