my secret worry

while fear of death is universal, my worry about death is so overwhelming that there is not a moment passing without my thinking of it. i never bring this up with any other, just because no one will ever realize the seriousness of this problem. i know it very clearly that as long as there is life, there will be death. in addition, though i am still so far away from death, i have been plagued by the thought of it for years. fortunately, the root of my fear of death lies in my overzealous love for life. i am too timid to think of the end of life, when every worldly affair should be thrown away. how can i carry on without friendship, affection, and joy of being alive? i really hate to leave all these behind. to ease my worry about death, i should make the fullest use of this life i now possess. concentration on this life can at least temporally make me forget about death. as a matter of fact, i really don＇t need to worry so much about death, for i already have too much to worry about this life.

听闻我们的吆喝声，舅舅赶紧跑来看，不知我们两个活宝怎么了，可是一看，舅舅便忍俊不禁，说：“我的外甥女呀，一来我家，就乱翻，啥时候能长大!”而我却一点儿都不羞，还说：“我才长不大呢!”

还有就是大年初一回红花铺，我与妹妹，哥哥一起玩枕头大战……因为还要拜访其他亲戚朋友，妈妈不让我在那呆太多天，每年临走时我都会很不舍，哭哭啼啼。

可今年去了姥姥家，突然感到与妹妹之间有了代沟：我，升入重点中学后竞争变大，再加上学科的增多，原本活泼的我渐渐变得不爱说话，内向起来;而妹妹却正好与我相反，性格外向，学习时静不下心。

这可能就是我与妹妹产生代沟的原因吧!

也正是因为我与妹妹之间的代沟，才让我感到自己升入初中后突然长大了……

长大?长大到底意味着什么?我想，长大就是我们要付出比以往更大的努力，去承担更多，并且去奋斗，况且，青春是我们奋斗的资本，趁着我们年轻，把握好自己的人生航标，用实际行动让它更加绚丽多彩。

The quality of human life has improved greatly over the past few centuries, but Earth is being harmed more and more by human activity. As we develop our technology, we demand more from our planet. Eventually, this will harm people as well.

Our planet gives us everything we need, but natural resources are not endless. Strip mining devastates whole regions, leaving bare and useless ground. Deforestation removes old growth trees that cant be replaced. Too much fishing may harm fish populations to the point where they cant recover. We are too careless in taking what we want without giving anything back.

There are more people than ever, living longer that ever. So is it any surprise that many areas suffer from too much development? Anyone living in or near a city has experienced "urban sprawl". There is a new shopping area on every corner and new houses, townhouses and apartments everywhere. Traffic gets worse and worse because planners cant keep up with growth. Keeping up with human demand is hard enough. Environmental concerns come in last.

With growth comes pollution. Companies and communities dump waste into water. Landfills are full of trash. Emissions from factories pollute the air. Barrels of industrial waste and worse, radioactive waste, have no safe place to go. If were not careful, we can harm our planet beyond repair.

People need to respect the Earth and try to preserve it. If we dont, what kind of future will we have?

如今的人们渴望成功，却缺乏积累，期待创新，却畏惧失败，又如何能够有所建树，有所创造呢?爱迪生发明灯泡前也曾失败千次，曹雪芹著《红楼梦》更是批阅十载，每一次的成功，每一次的创新势必要付出巨大的努力，遭受屡屡挫折和失败，而后才能有厚积薄发。又怎么能够因为畏惧失败就拒绝开始，苦于积累而不愿创新呢?

老师上课的时候也很认真，语法讲的也很详细，以前的英语笔记我现在也保存着，厚厚的一本，也可以算是我的宝典了吧，老师每讲一课单词，都会拓展，每周周三和周五是固定的考单词的日子，老师会叫两名同学在黑板上写，每桌写一次，如果座位上的同学抬头看了黑板就不用继续考了，就直接补考，老师的补考就是晚自习的时候在走廊里听写。

虽然她要求的严了一些，但是那段时间我的英语成绩确实很好，只要跟住老师，英语成绩就不会差，后来老师因为教的好，被别的学校挖走了。

不知道她现在怎么样，如果我看见她的话，一定会大声喊“英语老师！”

There are already laws enacted to prevent the importation of rare animals and the products made from their flesh, skin and bones.

These laws must be strictly enforced. Violators of these laws must be severely punished .Moreover, the public must be informed about the natural treasures we stand to lose .If we don’t take immediate action, we will be depriving future generations of our most precious heritage.

In Taiwan, because most people do not understand the importance of wildlife, the wildlife is in a poor situation. We Chinese are fond of eating anything delicious, so there are many animals killed by hunters. People enjoy eating tigers, bears, birds, and lions, so there are fewer and fewer birds flying in the sky and fewer and fewer bears running here and there in the forest. Instead, we often see them for sale at the market. How poor they are! And how cruel we are!

一天上午，奶奶送了我两只螳螂，我就搞不懂奶奶给我螳螂干什么?奶奶似乎能听见我的心声，便告诉了我：“我给你螳螂是为了让你发现他的秘密。”我想：不就是两只螳螂吗有什么秘密呀。

晚上，我正津津有味地看着电视，螳螂就放在我身旁的透明罐子里。突然，我听见了几声“咔咔”声音是从罐子里传出来的，我怀着好奇心，往罐子里一瞧，“咦，那只公螳螂呢?”我把罐子巡视了一周，什么也没有，突然，母螳螂后面露出了残骨，“那不是公螳螂的骨头吗?他怎么变成了一堆骨头啊!”我把目光看向了母螳螂，“难道……”我似乎明白了什么。

只见母螳螂转了一下身子，面朝着公螳螂用冷冷的目光盯着它，有一种邪意从我脑海中闪过，继续向下看，只见母螳螂飞到了公螳螂身后，趁公螳螂没注意伸出两把“镰刀”直往公螳螂的呼吸系统上劈公螳螂似乎痛苦极了，翻了个白眼，像喝醉酒一样倒在地上，“公螳螂就，就这么死了?”我不敢相信自己的眼睛，倒在地上的是一只公螳螂。而母螳螂却津津有味的吃着公螳螂的肉和血。我浑身起了鸡皮疙瘩，还好我不是那只公螳螂，要不然我早死在母螳螂的“镰刀”之下了。我长舒了一口气，想让自己冷静下来，可是我的心不听话，一直“怦怦”跳个没停，我不禁想母螳螂可真残忍啊!

又过了一天，我把我看到的告诉了奶奶，奶奶听了笑了笑问：“你知道母螳螂为什么吃公螳螂吗?公螳螂身体里有一种分泌物，能够很好的繁衍后代，等母螳螂肚子膨胀起来，就必须把公螳螂吃掉，才能生下小螳螂。”

Should parents send their kids to art classes?

A childs world is supposed to be fresh and new and beautiful, full of wonder and excitement. Unfortunately, this is not the case for some kids, especially for those born and bred in cities --- their joys are dimmed and even lost because a majority of them are forced to attend various art classes.

Some claim that it is beneficial for childrens development. They might have their reasons because most parents are convinced that their kids are gifted gifts from the god. They presume that the earlier their children are exposed to arts, the more likely it is to find out the artistic potential hidden in them. Even if their children fail to become another child prodigy like Lang Lang or Li Yundi, the interests in arts, say, in music, cultivated in childhood will be of great value in their whole life.

In spite of the possible benefits mentioned, I, like others, am strongly against it. The major harm is that it might deprive children of their pleasure to play after school. Faced with competition and contest for better universities, most children are buried in piles of homework. Forcing them to art classes will leave them less time to enjoy the beauty of the nature or to find their talent in things they are really interested in.

忽然，路边一声沉重的哀叫，路过的人都循声望去，有的朝那个方向小跑，我也快步走过去察看，原来是一位头发花白的老爷爷摔倒在地，他年数已高，约有七十来旬，脸上布满了皱纹，他现在满脸通红，口干舌燥，呼吸十分急促，眼睛布满血丝望着旁边一个塑料袋，里面的药都散落一地。

围观的路人都站在老人旁边，不知所措，谁也不敢上前半步，这时，一位中年男子冲出来大声说道：“这么热，肯定中暑了，还愣着干嘛，快来帮忙啊!”说着，扶起老人，把老爷爷搀扶到不远处的站台椅子坐下。这位男子中等身材，白色紧身T恤，衬出黝黑的皮肤和强壮的肌肉，他沉着应对这突发状况看出他有着丰富的社会经验，更有一颗善良的心。

差距是怎么造成的?不小心?粗心大意造成的?不，不是，不仅仅是，而更多的是什么?更多的是日积月累。

日积月累有好的一面，也有坏的一面。当然，我说的是不好的那一面。好的，正确的日积月累可以让你受益学生时代，甚至受益终生。而不好的那一面，也是一个信念，可能是在你一念之差之中产生的。比方：你一天不写卷子，二天不写，三天不写，四天不写，一个星期不写，一个月不写，一年不写……几年下来，将有多少卷子没写呀!信念会使你认为写卷子没有任何作用，写了也没有什么用，但，并不是这样的。你干什么总是有回报的，就如一句人们常说的话：“你付出多少，就会收获多少，还会有利息。”

再想想我小学时，每次考试都因为粗心大意拿不了满分，有时少了个加减号，有时少了小括号，有时忘了加小数点等等等等。但是，这些小粗心经常导致我从班里前五滑了10名!好无奈!但是，经现在一想：粗心并不是理由，而是借口!每次考得不好时，我为了逃避错误，经常说是粗心大意造成的!而现在，一但你一掩盖错误，那么，你只能在那成绩单的末尾找到你自己的影子!虽说，小学之间的差距不大，但，一切是从点点滴滴开始的，从小学时，距离已经慢慢拉开了，有的人跑得“飞快”;而有的人甚至还没走，就已经往后倒退了;而有的人不论裁判员如何吹哨，就躺在地上“一动不动”!没错，差距在起跑就已经拉开了!

有的人虽然起跑慢，但在坚持不懈地跑，和最好的距离会逐渐缩短。是啊，无论天资多差或多好，就如龟兔赛跑一样，只要坚持不懈，勇往直前的朝前跑，只有这样，才能拉断你和别人的距离，甚至勇抢第一!
