On Friday afternoon, the activity class began. We should have in the interior of the standing long jump, can our teacher have led us to epoch-making outdoor activities.

The teacher said: "boys and girls, two teams, come to a game, jump over, see which team first to the opposite." We are all leaping like a happy chicken. As a result, the boy team jumped and jumped into a mess, and I was also pressed into a "meat pie" by Ye Zuhui and others behind. But the boys are still winning, after all, is it a mans strength to run and jump! From time to time, the boys showed a triumphant smile and a joyful cheering from time to time.

But the girls, each pointing to our boys face, said: "the team is scattered, the win is not brilliant!"

The teacher also announced, "now race running, see who runs fast!" Prepare - start! We ran away like wild horses that had taken off the reins. Some of the students can see that they can run away from the runway and run to the end of the race. I have straight teeth, shouted: "who is not a shameless man!" But they listen to me, only if they dont hear them.

When everyone arrived at the end, the teacher said, "go back to the class, and then go down this way."

Although only a few short minutes, it has brought me a lot of happiness, left a deep impression.

"We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas"Have you heard that song? Yup! Its Christmas time! This Christmas, I stayed with my "host family"1. It was an amazing experience to see how a typical American family would celebrate the biggest western festival of the year.

Christmas, like our Spring Festival, has a meaning in itself. Christmas Day, which is on December 25, is the birthday of Jesus Christ--the son of God. Thats why it is called Christmas. On that day, Christians would get together with their families to celebrate the birthday of Jesus. But nowadays, the religious meaning of Christmas has become less emphasized. To many families, it is just a time of family reunion and the ever-exciting present-giving.

Our school had been on winter vacation since December 11. I stayed at my friend, Stephen Stapczynskis house--his family was my "host family". Although Christmas was still more than ten days ahead, the festive spirit had already been teeming everywhere. The Christmas tree had already been set up, and on every windowsill, there were Christmas lights. On the first day I arrived at their house, Stephen and I helped Mrs. Stapczynski put decorations on the Christmas tree. The tree looked so nice with all the lights on and the beautiful ornaments dangling from its branches.

As Christmas came closer, the whole neighborhood had made preparations too. Some people would hold parties at their houses, inviting all their neighbors to come. So every night, if you went out, you would see a long line of cars parked in front of some house--a partys on!

Whats more, the Christmas decorations that some people put on their windows and in gardens were just amazing. On one night, we went out in our car for a "tour of lights". There was one street that was so famous for its lights that it got its way into the local paper. We had a hard time finding the well-hidden street, but it turned out to be worth the effort. Lights shone brightly in front of nearly every house, on trees, bushes, doors, windowseverywhere, taking different shapes, making it seem almost like daytime. Huge inflatable figures in the front gardens were waving to us: there were Santa Clauses2, of course, chuckling merrily away; and there were also other Christmas figures, like Rudolph3--the red-nosed reindeer--with his red nose gleaming ever so brightly; even Bart Simpson--a character in the famous comedy The Simpsons--had joined the jolly party, wearing a Santas hat. The street set off a lot of "ooh"s and "aah"s inside the car.4 When we left, there was a line of cars in the street, all there to see the lights.

Christmas is the time for exchanging presents. Stephen and Niko had been thinking about their Christmas lists (a list of things they wish "Santa"to give them for Christmas) for a long time. I didnt want to ask for anything, but the Stapczynskis were so kind to "force"me make one list as well (Mr. Stapczynski told me if I didnt make one he would chop off my legs). So I wrote down a couple of things that I would like to have, and gave the list to them--sorry, my mistake--to Santa.

Finally, Christmas Eve came. There was a special Christmas service at the church at 6 p.m. It was certainly a very interesting experience for me. The priest started the service reading and sang out extractions from a holy book--The Divine Liturgy. For several times, we would stand up and pray.

Sometimes, the church choir would start singing. The atmosphere was very quiet and holy. Then there was a ceremony called "The Receiving Communion". People waited in line to "receive"a spoonful of food from the priest. It was a very special Christmas tradition. The food was made from bread and wine. The bread represents the body of Jesus, and the wine represents his blood. After this ceremony, the priest had a speech. He reminded us not to forget the true meaning of Christmas, and let Jesus really live inside us--that is, to love the people around us wholeheartedly. I think that no matter if you are a Christian or not, this principle should be part of our lives. After the priest finished his speech, the part that I enjoyed most came: Christmas carols5. Christmas carols are songs that people sing at Christmas, such as "Jingle Bells", "We Wish You a Merry Christmas", "Silent Night"and so on. Some were very merry, others sounded quite holy, but all of them were beautiful. I closed my eyes, and let all the peacefulness and happiness that were in the songs flow through me. What a feeling it was!

We went to sleep earlier that day for we had to get up early on Christmas Day to open our presents. Sure enough, when I was still half-way during a sweet dream, Stephen burst into my room and told me to get up and open presents. There were a huge pile of presents under the Christmas tree, and there was such a mysterious mist shrouding them that made me eager to see what they all were. So one by one, we went through all the presents. Mr. and Mrs. Stapczynski had bought me everything I had written on my Christmas list--and a lot more! I got music CDs, film DVDs, clothes, books I was very happy, and I didnt know how to express my appreciation for what they had done for me.

Stephen and Niko had gotten a lot of presents too, and they had already been trying out their new games!

In the afternoon, we went to Mrs. Stapczynskis brother, Uncle Stans house. They had prepared a marvelous meal for us. A lot of their friends and relatives also came. I saw Stephen and Nikos grandparents, Yiayia and Papou (words of grandma and grandpa in Greek--Mrs. Stapczynskis parents came from Greece, so they like the boys using Greek words to call them). They were very kind to me, and treated me just like one of their family members. We had a very luxurious meal, consisting of turkey, beef, pork, and all sorts of other food.

After the meal, when all the stomachs were full and everyone was feeling drowsy6 from all the food, we just sat around the table and chatted, just like what we Chinese people do at the Spring Festival. After all, Christmas, like the Spring Festival, is a time for us to get away from our busy lives, a time for family gathering, and a time to have some fun.

Trees are an important kind of natural resources. Some of them, such as those fruit trees, can provide us with some food we need in our daily life while others may serve as indispensible raw materials. Our houses, furniture, paper are all produced out of trees.

Trees also play an important role in improving our environment. On the one hand, they can take in carbon dioxide but discharge oxygen for us; on the other hand, they can prevent soil erosion effectively.

Trees are so beneficial to our life that we are supposed to protect and plant more trees. Only in this way can our life become more convenient and the air much fresher.

Trees are important resources. They provide us with wood, which is not only an important building material, but also indispensable in making paper, furniture, matches and many other useful things. Without tress, we would perhaps still be living in caves, and our life would be very miserable.

Trees also do good to our environment. They not only make our world greener and more beautiful but also produce oxygen which makes the air we breathe fresher and better for our health. What’s more, trees help maintain ecological balance, which is very important to our survival.

Fortunately, trees, unlike other resources, can be “reproduced”. While coal and oil can be burnt up and exhausted, trees will never be used up because we can always plant new ones. And when we plant trees, we know that we are helping make our world richer, pleasanter, and more beautiful to live in. So let’s plant more trees.

Enjoy Yourself While Fulfilling Responsibility

In my 18 years of life, there have been many things. University days are the best part of them. I can never forget the days when I stepped into my university. I was impressed by its garden-like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. I at once fell in love with it.

After the arduous military training, I get absolutely absorbed in my studies. The classes given by the teachers are excellent. They provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. They easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as I can.

Frankly speaking, at first I had some difficulty following the teachers. However, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers guidance, I made remarkable progress. Now Ive benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.

Learning is a long process; Ill keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. This summer I got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. A publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.

At the beginning I was belittled by my colleagues. But they were really surprised when I translated seven English articles over 5,000 words on only one day. Gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. In their opinion I turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.

I also realize that only those who bring happinefor others can be truly happy. So I often take part in activities concerning public welfare. I once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. We taught the kids there who could not afford school. While showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, I was deeply touched by their eagerneto learn, their honesty and their purity. I couldnt control my tears on the day when we left. The precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.

Besides study and social practice, there are entertainments as well. I do body building every day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. We also write a play and put it on in our spare time.

Campus life is the most splendid time. But different people have different choices. The majority of students cherish their beautiful season and cherish the hope that one day theyll become outstanding. But there are indeed some students still under ignorance. They gather together for eating, drinking or playing cards. Theyre busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. They forget completely about their mission as college students and the hope of their motherland.

Finally, I do hope everybody can try their best to become a worthy citizen of the country. I do hope everybody can become the backbone of our nation and make great contributions to society

In western countries, the annual April 1st "fools Day" means a person can play a variety of tricks and dont have to bear the consequences. Called a "fools Day joke" your trick will be forgive.

This is a distinction between soft hearted and hard hearted day, soft hearted person who made that they have been cheated, but look very foolish. A woman set a few years to save her from the other women get a business card, and no notice of their intention to obtain a number of friends there, and then with a lot of this kind of business card to go fools day party. She brazenly people flirt, suggesting that spend the night with her would be "not fair" of pleasure, and gave each one requires the men meet again a another woman card.

Undoubtedly, during this holiday, magic goods stores will be refurbished to provide a lot of tricks. For example, sit up will happen harsh noise cushion; row will be fireworks after the match; and for those who want to fit a ball at the other faces of the people ready sarcoma, fake nose, glasses, beard and putty.

In Britain, fooling at this time of year has gone on for centuries, however the originof the customstill remains obscure. There are several theories to account for it.

One theory is that in Europe, until the sixteenth century, March 25th, the first day of the Vernal EquinoxFestival, was New Years Day. On April 1st, the last day of the festival, people used to give presents to one another. In 1564, Charles IX, the French king, adopting the Gregorian calendarand fixed January 1st as New Years Day. Those who were against the revisioncontinued to express their complaints by giving presents or paying New Years visits on April 1st. In the following years, these traditionalists who insisted on celebrating the New Year at its old time were mockedas fools and people would play pranks and tricks on them and called them ` Poisson davril , meaning April Fish. This must have been so much fun that it spread all over the world and people played tricks on everyone, not just the people who didnt accept the new calendar.

Other people say its just a continuationof a festival in honour ofthe Celtic god of Mirthbut most popular belief is that its a reaction to the change in season and the start of spring. Whatever its origin, making fools of people on this day remains one of the most flourishingof all British customs.

In Scotland, for example, April Fools Day is actually celebrated for two days. The second day is devoted to pranks involving the posteriorregion of the body. It is called Taily Day. The origin of the "kick me" sign can be traced to this observance.

Humanactivity decreases forests and increases the usage of fuels sothatthe gas of carbon dioxide is output more and more and there arenotenough plants to absorb it。 The green-house effect is moreobviousand more sensible these years。 Due to the effect, icebergsin thesouth polar and north polar melt and the sea level becomeshigherthan before。 I am worried about the cities nearby the sea andhopescientists find an effective method to eliminate thegreen-houseeffect。 Although we have advanced machines and our life seemsmorecomfortable than before, we have less chances to approachnaturesand less spaces to act。 The cities become bigger and if wewant tohave a picnic with our friends, we have to drive a longdistance tofind a natural place。 In fact, the spaces of humanactivity arebeing damaged by the skyscrapers and factories。 From the above statements, we can conclude that humanactivitybrings the Earth many damages。 Fortunately people haverecognizedthe point and I believe that the Earth will become abetter placeto live with our ceaseless efforts。

It‘s been a long time since I‘ve done something positive to the environment. Feeling guilty-ridden and determined to do something that I know would definitely please my parents and teachers,I decided to plant several trees on the hill in the rural area of the city on tree planting day with a few friends.

Feeling breezy and light-hearted, we came to the foot of the hill and selected a place that looked suitable and settled down. We spent a few hours digging holes and placing the young seedlings. We took numerous pictures of the beautiful place. We also wrote our wishes and buried it deep down the roots of the trees. I felt tired quickly and though I didn‘t realise it, it was time to go. I gazed up at the sky and took in all the wonderful features of Mother Nature. I felt really glad that we made it for this trip and sweared that I would do my part on protecting the environment.

I like to play the top of the top. After class, I ran to the playground, playing my favorite big gyro, and playing with my classmates.

Start the game! My classmates and I said, "one or two, three, hair." The gyroscopes I made were like the wheels of flying, whirling and hitting the top of the others top. One of the students moved his gyro on the edge of my top and collide with a rope. I think my gyro so badly, you told me the gyro gyro collisions, it is pale into insignificance by comparison. I put this into a gyro, gyroscope students hit but soon my reel right and left, top hold fast. At this time, another classmate told me to top match, who is afraid of him, I want him to fight a fight at outrance. But the classmate had just won two gyro collisions, and his gyro didnt have much to do. I saw this situation, and I whispered to him quietly, "wait for a moment first, lets beat the gyros that are against me, and then we will collide again." The students listen to, this is also a good opportunity for him to win, we will work together with each other together, and I suddenly get rid of gyro collisions.

This is my enjoyable class activity. But the interval between classes is too short, and its not enough to play the top of the top. I thought: it would be good to turn the class into a class. I also know that playing the gyro can eliminate fatigue.

Spring is coming. It is the season for planting trees. On Sunday, our teacher led us to the suburb to plant trees. We brought some spades, pails and saplings with us. On arriving there, everybody went into action in no time. We dug square pits first. Then two persons were needed to plant a tree. One held the sapling carefully and the other put the soil in. I wish the saplings would grow up quickly.

Some students like to participate actively in after class activities.

They think after class activities are an integral part of school life. By going in for such activities, they can learn what they cant learn from books, which will be beneficial to them in the future.

Others, however, dont like after class activities at all. They think that a students work at school is learning theoretical knowledge and nothing else.

Taking part in after class activities is a waste of the valuable time at school.

In my opinion, every student should engage in some after class activities because from these activities we can learn many valuable things that we wont learn in classrooms.

School is not just a place for learning the difference between "lie" or "lay", or what caused the hours of the daily schedule.

Finally, after class activities broaden our circle of acquaintances. No amount of ordinary school work can take the place of friends acquired in the informal familiarities of activities.
