为此易布拉欣将儿子带到麦加附近的米娜山上，正当举刀宰杀儿子时，天使哲伯衣勒奉安拉之命降临，送来一只黑头抵羊以代替牺牲。为了纪念这一事件和感谢安拉，先知穆罕默德圣人继承了这一传统，列为朝觐功课礼仪之一。教法规定：凡经济条件宽裕的穆斯林，每年都要举行宰牲礼仪。朝觐者在10月10日举行宰牲。其他各国各地区的穆斯林在10日至12日宰牲，期限为3天。超逾期限宰牲无效。穆圣在麦加传播伊斯兰教时。安拉降示：“我确己赐你多福，故你应当为你的主而礼拜，并宰牲”(108： 1-2)。穆圣顺从主命，效仿伊布拉欣宰牲献主，于伊斯兰教历之年(公元633年)定每年的12月10日为会礼，即今古尔邦节。
