This harassment evolved, over time, into a tradition of prank-playing on the first day of April. The tradition eventually spread to England and Scotland in the eighteenth century. It was later introduced to the American colonies of both the English and French. April Fools Day thus developed into an international fun fest, so to speak, with different nationalities specializing in their own brand of humor at the expense of their friends and families.

Mexicos counterpart of April Fools Day is actually observed on December 28. Originally, the day was a sad remembrance of the slaughter of the innocent children by King Herod. It eventually evolved into a lighter commemoration involving pranks and trickery.

Pranks performed on April Fools Day range from the simple, (such as saying, "Your shoes untied, or I accidentally stepped on your glasses!), to the elaborate. Setting a roommates alarm clock back an hour is a common gag. Whatever the prank, the trickster usually ends it by yelling to his victim, "April Fool!"

Practical jokes are a common practice on April Fools Day. Sometimes, elaborate practical jokes are played on friends or relatives that last the entire day. The news media even gets involved. For instance, a British short film once shown on April Fools Day was a fairly detailed documentary about "spaghetti farmers" and how they harvest their crop from the spaghetti trees.

April Fools Day is a "for-fun-only" observance. Nobody is expected to buy gifts or to take their "significant other" out to eat in a fancy restaurant. Nobody gets off work or school. Its simply a fun little holiday, but a holiday on which one must remain forever vigilant, for he may be the next April Fool!

I am a December 2003 graduate from the University of San Francisco (USF)

with a bachelors degree in International Business. As part of my career

planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business

这时我又被眼前的情景吓了一大跳，前面有一幢小木屋，木屋里有成千上万的影子，它们都在问：“外面的世界怎么样了？有没有变化啊？……”我看这么多问题，吓了一大跳，就问：“你们为什么问这些问题呢？”领头的回答道：“我们都是人的影子，被一个老伯伯给抓进来的，我们好向往外面的世界呀！恨不得马上出去，早知道当初就不离家出走了。”“对呀！对呀！”其它的影子叽叽喳喳叫起来说。我听了就问：“你们为啥不逃出去呢？”“我们试过许多次了都没成功过，你有什么好办法呢？”我听了想了想说：“我有办法带大家逃出去。”“好啊！”所有影子听了立刻欢呼起来。“来大家过来，我们这样，然后这样……”

读张大鹏的漫画《盲从》，不由地想起20xx年的抢盐风波。年初，有人在网上散布“日本核辐射空气到达上海”的谣言，随即一位杭州网民在网上发布“储备点盐”的信息，于是引发了一场全国范围的“抢盐”风波。

谣言即“妖言”。谣言极具蛊惑性和危害性，它利用人们的心理弱点，如同引诱人们吸食毒 品一样，慢慢地让人“上瘾”，麻醉人的神经，扰乱人的生理功能，让人的心理也变得越来越不正常、不健康，进而破坏家庭、诱发犯罪，败坏社会风气，危害社会正常秩序。

谣言、谎言固然可恨，跟风、盲从也一样可悲。善良的人们，不知普通食盐是否真的具有防辐射作用，听人说，看人抢，于是也稀里糊涂地跟着加入了“抢盐”的队伍，无意中为制造恐慌推波助澜。如果我们多一些理智，少一些盲从，多一些冷静思考，少一些贸然行动，可能就不会上当受骗。

盲从不但害己，而且误国。在探索中国的发展道路时，我们曾经惊慕过苏联社会主义建设的“巨大成就”，虔诚地学习过他们的“先进经验”，大规模、全方位地聘请苏联顾问和专家，大量派遣各类人员赴苏学习和考察。结果由于我们盲目效仿苏联经验，导致在一段时期内社会发展停滞不前。如果我们在60年前就具备独立意识，清醒地认识经济建设的重要性，自觉地按经济规律办事，我们国家可能早就进入现代化的行列。

In the Warring States Period, a man in the state of Chu was offering a sacrifice(祭品) to his ancestors. After the ceremony, the man gave a beaker of wine to his servants.

The servants thought that there was not enought wine for all of them, and decided to each draw a picture of snake; the one who finished the picture first would get the wine.

One of them drew very rapidly. Seeing that the others were still busy drawing, he added feet to the snake.

At this moment, another man finished, snatched the beaker(烧杯，大口杯) and drank the wine, saying,"A snake doesnt have feet. How can you add feet to a snake?"

This idiom refers to ruining a venture by doing unnecessary and surplus things.
