Saving Water

The world is not only hungry,but also thirsty for water. This may seem strange to you, since nearly 75 % of the earths surface is covered with water. But about 97% of this huge amount is sea water, or salt water. Man can only drink and use the other 3% -- the fresh water that comes from rivers, lakes,underground, and other sources. And we cannot even use all of that, because some of it is in the form of icebergs and glaciers. Even worse, some of it has been polluted.

However, as things stand today, this small amount of fresh water, which is constantly being replaced by rainfall, is still enough for us. But our need for water is increasing rapidly-- almost day by day. Only if we take steps to deal with this problem now can we avoid a severe worldwide water shortage later on. Making Every Day Earth Day

Now the earth is in bad condition. For example, in some places, the air and water pollution is so serious that it causes many deaths. At the same time, many animals and plants are in danger because of the destruction of their habitats.

Luckily, we human beings have realized the problem. On April 22nd, millions of people across the world do something good for the earth. Some clean up beaches and water, some pick up rubbish, others give speeches to call on more people to take action. But can we save the earth only by one day’s work? 国庆节我在苏州(我舅舅家)住，昨天刚刚回家，坐车要几个小时，所以国庆都没怎么投稿。

我是一个比较爱读书的人，闲暇无事时，我总会拿上一本书阅读。

这天，我在鲁迅写的一本书《呐喊》中看到这样一篇文章，叫做《一件小事》。

《一件小事》反映城镇劳动者的生活，赞颂人力车夫舍己助人的，真诚无私的品质，表现了作者自愧自省的精神。

这篇文章写得是这样的一件小事情：一天鲁迅先生雇了一辆人力车夫，拉车的过程中撞了一个人，撞上的这个人是一个女人，花白头发，衣服都很破烂，那个车夫赶忙把那个女人扶了起来，鲁迅先生料定出老女人并没有受伤，便让车夫走罢。可是车夫并没有理会鲁迅先生，而是把那个老女人送到了巡警住所，这是鲁迅先生感到非常的惭愧。

读完这篇文章后，让我若有所思，当今的社会会有很多很多这样善良的“车夫”，但这些车夫都便成了受害者。例如：一位老奶奶在人群中跌倒，一位好心人赶忙搀扶，但老奶奶却赖，是这位好心人把她推倒的。就是这样导致有好多老年人跌倒没有人来搀扶他，也没人来帮忙。更有甚者伪装被撞倒，让车主赔偿，从而获得利益。
