语言是文化的表现形式。谚语同文学作品、诗歌一样是语言的精华。英语谚语是富于色彩的语言形式，一般具有生动形象、喻义明显、富于哲理的语言特征。在一定程度上，英语谚语反映了英语民族的文化特点。因此，翻译英语谚语时，仅仅以语言之间词汇的同义性（等价性）为前提，寻求对等的表现是不够的。译者须较多运用汉语的表现手段，力求能再现英语谚语的语言风格和丰富内涵。只有多注意英语谚语字面以外所特有的语言内涵色彩，才能使译文讽喻得当，宜于说理，又不失原来谚语所具有的语言形象。

某些英语谚语和汉语成语、俗语在表现形式和含义方面是一致的或基本一致的。汉译这些英语时，可惜用与其喻义相同或相近的成语或谚语及俗语直接对译。这样不但可以比较好地保持原文的神韵和形式，又使译文易于为读者或听者接受。如：

总之，即使像谚语这样孤立的语句，翻译时也需尽一番揣摩切磋之功，否则译文就可能与原文“貌合神离”，文不达意。译事艰辛也许正在于此。

一阵风吹过，小黄狗的风筝被吹到树上卡住了，小黄狗着急地拽着线使劲地拉，风筝晃了晃，却依然挂在树上，怎么也拉不下来。

小狗伤心地哭起来：“呜……呜……呜，这可是我用了两天两夜才做好的第一只蝴蝶风筝啊！我该怎么办啊！”这时一只戴着假胡子，拄着拐杖的小狐狸一瘸一拐地走过来，故意压低声音说：“我是万能的狐狸大仙，可怜的小狗，我有什么能帮助你的吗？”小狗抬起头来，抽着鼻涕说：“你看，我亲手做的风筝挂在树上，拿不下来了！”小狐狸捋了捋胡子，又抓了抓脑袋，沉思了一下，突然说：“有了，我这正好有拐杖，我来帮你试一下。”说完，小狐狸就举起拐杖想要把风筝打下来，可是它的个子太矮了够不到。

它停下来，对小狗说：“我们一起配合，一会我用力跳起来用拐杖压住树枝，你把风筝绳子往上甩。”小狗用力点点头，只见小狐狸腾空跳起，假胡子也甩到了地上，在他们两个的密切配合下，蝴蝶风筝又在天空中自由自在地飞翔了。

小狗兴奋地说：“小狐狸，你真有办法，不愧是我们的狐狸大仙，我们一起去放风筝吧！”小狐狸捡起掉在地上的胡子和拐杖，慢吞吞地说：“我老了，跑不动了，但放风筝……我还是不会输给你的！”说完，一把扯过小狗手里的风筝，跑了起来。小狗笑了，心想：这个聪明又狡猾的小狐狸，原来也喜欢我做的风筝啊！“等等我！”小狗喊道，就去追小狐狸了。

When winter comes, the days are always full of rain and there are less sunshine, so it is so rare to enjoy the sunshine, people will feel excited to see the sunny days. As for me, I will be very happy when the sun comes out in the winter.
