the Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingways most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. It played a GREat part in his winning the Pulizer Prize in 1953 and the 1954 Novel Prize for Literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. Hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. Besides The Old Man And the Sea, I have read some of his other works, such as The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms and The Snow of Kilimanijaro. I first read this book when I was in my fifteens. And now I remember it just as well as if I had read it yesterday.

Pride and Prejudice is a chefdoeuvre.

My first impression of this story was from screen.

Its long long ago, maybe before I can read english books. I dont remember which movie edition I had seen. But I was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. Its pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the heroine,though I didnt think shes beautiful. But shes smart. However, I didnt pay much attention to the plot. I thought its so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I havent read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either. I owe it to my prejudice.

In fact, I didnt understand the story at that time. I didnt know why it called Pride and Prejudice. Of course someone was pride, but I didnt find where s the prejudice. I thought its normal, the way people treated each other in that. I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movie everthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it. Im a prejudiced person so I cant find wheres wrong. I merely like to do the things I like. Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time.

Pinkney‘s descriptive passages resonate with the splendor of nature‘s beauty. The glowing watercolors, filled with intricate details, make each blade of gravisible, and the delicately drawn, nearly transparent mosquitoes are as ethereal as they are in life. The subtle details incorporated into the scenes--a frog catching a passing fly at the pond and a tiny mouse perched by a crate in the old woman‘s cottage--make children take another look.

One day he heard a sound of whirring wings, and up in the air he saw a flock of birds flying high. They were as bright as the snow that had fallen during the night, and their long necks were stretched southward. Oh, if only he could go with them! But what sort of companion could he be to those beautiful beings?

看到这里，我不由得想，老人经过千辛万苦终于打到大鱼了，这正是向其他渔夫们证明自己的时候，为什么出现了鲨鱼，并且把老人的鱼都吃了?故事的结局为什么不是老人拖着大鱼回家了，渔夫们都崇拜他而且老人通过大鱼得到了丰厚的报酬，和孩子过上了幸福的生活!难道这个结局不好吗?但仔细想想，为什么此书可以获“诺贝尔奖”，原来作者向我们阐述的是“一个人并不是生来就是被打败的”、“人尽可以被毁灭，但却不能被打败”的哲理。不错，只要是人就会有失败，只有承认了自己的失败并且努力去克服它，去战胜它。当老人一开始捕到马林鱼并被他拖着跑的的时候，当遇到鲨鱼吃他的大鱼的时候，他没有放弃而是勇敢的面对。不管老人托回去的是大鱼还是大鱼的骨架，这已经不重要了，因为老人的生命价值已经体现在了捕鱼和搏斗鲨鱼的过程中去了，我终于明白了：一个曾经为自己的理想追求过、努力过、奋斗过的人就是一个胜利者。老渔夫就是这样一个人，他以足够的信心来挑战自己的极限。从表面上看，老人是失败的，带回去的只是骨架而不是大鱼，其实老人却是一个当之不愧的胜利者，因为老人他没有向马林鱼和鲨鱼投降。我想这就是此书中揭示的真理吧!不管故事结局是怎么样的，老人是值得我们所尊敬的。

Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. This summer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince.

As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex. “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.

就这样恍恍惚惚得过了几天，这本书被朋友送到了我的手上。起初只是心不在焉地看了几眼，可在不经意间看了几眼后，便感到妙趣横生，反复思考这其中所蕴含的人生哲理。书本中，老人不服输的硬汉精神令我感到由衷的佩服，敬意油然而生，与此同时，我也感到了前所未有的羞愧：面对没有水、没有食物、身体疲惫的困境下，老人也不放弃，继续抗争着。而我仅仅是两次考试失利，就整日怨天尤人，顾影自怜，不懂得找出失败的原因，不懂得要努力去改变，才能得到胜利。“多简单的道理呀。”我久久地凝视着这本书，轻笑出声。

Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.

The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London.

For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on peoples honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. 渔夫坚持不懈的精神让我想到我的学习，我的学习总是时好时坏，并不稳定，那是因为我的学习总是不坚持做课后习题，每天只读半小时的书就算完成作业了。如果成绩不好的话就奋起直追，然后就渐渐好了起来。如果成绩好的话，又“旧病复发”了。如果把鱼夫坚持不懈的精神用到学习上，那么我们的成绩将永远到是好的。

如今，我一想到《老人与海》这本书，我就感到无比的感动和无限的反思。
