During the Days of Military Training

The day we were looking forward to came at last----a weeks military training began.

During the training, each of us did his part in earnest. We drilled more than six hours a day, though it was very hot at the time.

In the blazing sun, we always tried to measure up to the high standards which were demanded . Sweat streamed down and we wouldnt wipe it off. Olny three days later our faces were tanned.We felt happy and proud of it .

Our platoon officer was a young PLA man, about twenty years old. He was very strict with us during the training and very kind to us afterwards. By talking with him, we came to know not only more information about army life, but also about military affairs.

The military training gave us good discipline. It brought us great happiness, too. Well never forget it.

In my understanding, if we refer to an ideal college life as a formal western dinner, then a high GPA, that is, Grade Point Average, should be the main course, while an active part in activities, together with associations, means the appetizer. Those, however, are not what college life is all about. As we all know, college is wildly different from middle school. My university life has been one of the most colorful parts of my life. I will never forget the day when I first stepped into the university. At that very moment, I was impressed immediately by the beautiful campus, the enthusiastic students and the good learning atmosphere. I fell in love with the campus at once.

First, studying on the campus gives me lots of pleasure. After some very arduous military training, I became absolutely absorbed in my studies. Different from high school courses, the courses in university are specific and interesting. These courses arouse my insatiable desire for knowledge and make me learn and digest as much as I can. Besides, social activities on campus provide me with more chances to learn. I will never forget the days I served as a volunteer at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. I was a volunteer as well as a disseminator of our splendid culture. There was no doubt that I came across many difficulties at first, such as humid weather, language barriers and so on. Take the spring festival as an example, traditionally, in the evening of the Chinese New Year eve, the whole family usually would have a reunion meal. Many of the family members are not really be at home quite often spending time with others especially with their old parents, so this reunion meal is very important for every family to have a chance to talk, enjoy the together time. But today all has changed. The most common look of the reunion meal now is that all young people eat quietly meanwhile the eyes are staring at their cell phone, checking out their “Friend Circle” to see if anyone update the status. They only make sounds when someone grab a red envelop with very lousy money in it. The old parents feel awkward when facing this weird situation, no one would even like to talk to them, the reunion meal turns out that there is just a bunch of strange people eating at the same table.
