思来想去，我决定做鸡蛋炒番茄。我把这个想法告诉了妈妈，没想到妈妈欣然同意了，我高兴地跳了起来。

总算盼到做饭的时候了。我来到厨房，从冰箱里拿了两个番茄、三个鸡蛋，准备开始炒菜。

冬日的夜，总是来得很快。在我的万分期待中，晚餐终于来临。出乎意料，我梦见的那盘“大葱炒牛肉”竟也赫然在目，我不禁有些小得意，专爱它了起来，一连吃了好几块。公公一声令下，开始放爆竹!爸爸和几个叔叔一起将爆竹抬了出去，“嘭嘭嘭!”由于时常听见，现在我几乎在爆竹声中可以面不改色了，便端了个板凳在门外看。一朵朵“菊花”在空中盛开，绚烂夺目，美丽不已。就在这时，“意外”突然发生，一颗“小石子”撞在了我的脸上，我吓了一跳，赶紧一摸，还好，没事!我松了一口气，心渐渐落回了胸腔。不一会儿，我的注意力便又到了切蛋糕上，乖巧的按长幼顺序把切好的蛋糕递给他们，听着耳旁长辈们夸奖，心里有些飘飘然起来，连自己吃的很少也不介意。

继续向西边行进，就看到了一座宽约2米，长约4米的小湖，湖中央有一座假山，从远处看，看起来就和真山一样，湖水更是清澈见底，湖底有许多石块，近处看，像一个个五颜六色的地灯，里面还有非常多的小鱼儿，正在欢快的游着，像顽皮的孩子;有的正在吃鱼虫和别人给他洒过的食物;有的不游也不动，停在那儿，仿佛在思考着什么。

告别了假山，来到了操场，那里草非常松软，如同鸭绒一般，在草场的外圈，是一层黑如锅底的跑道，后面则是小体育场，那里的器材更多，就像一个大大的游乐场。

这就是学习的圣殿，娱乐的天堂!

寒假过，春天到，校园一片乐融融。是呀，寒假不知不觉的过了，开学的时间到了。一到学校不几天，我便以福尔摩斯式的精神挖掘出许多春天味儿，现在就要隆重出场了。

春天味儿之菜地篇：冬天刚过，菜地里刚撒下的种子就冒出了绿绿的芽，绿得如一大片迎风飘动的翡翠，绿得如一汪碧绿的河水，绿得如一杯浓茶。同学们在旁边经过时也会忍不住赞叹一声：真是生机勃勃呀!小芽自顾自的生长着，不几天便长了一大片，生机勃勃，翠绿可人，让人见了喜爱不已。看，那些绿叶，好像在向我们招手呢!

春天味儿之操场篇：体育课了，操场上到处是来玩耍的同学：有的三五成群的跳绳，好像再切磋技术;有的追追跑跑，好像在玩什么开心的游戏;还有的拉着朋友满操场的走，好像在说着什么知心话，老师们也在一旁交谈着什么，可能是在说着什么教学经验吧!就连旁边的小树也在哗啦哗啦地响个不停，好像在聆听着我们的谈话，又好像在交谈着什么。

春天味之教室篇：春眠不觉晓，处处闻啼鸟。夜来风雨声，花落知多少。咦，这声音是从哪儿传来的?哦，原来是从教室里传出来的。走，我们去教室看看吧!

一进入教室，首先闻到的是一股浓浓的花香，看看四周，有不少花，这儿一盆，那儿一片，有香气浓烈的水仙花，有朴实简单的映山红，有清雅脱俗的茉莉花，还有香气绵绵的桂花，这些花的香气组成一曲花香大合奏，闻一闻，使人心旷神怡。再看看动物角，有活泼可爱的仓鼠，有整天懒洋洋地睡大觉的乌龟，还有鼓着眼睛生气的金鱼。看着这情景，同学们不经赞叹道：呀!春天般进了我们的教室了!不久后，我又找到了许多春天味儿，你看……

富有，难道就快乐吗?贫穷，难道就不快乐吗?no!富有，不一定就快乐;贫穷，也不一定不快乐。 Rich, is it happy? Poverty, is it unhappy? NO! Rich, not necessarily happy; poverty, not necessarily unhappy.

我曾经就见过一个富有的人和一个贫穷的人，然而，它们的区别却有天那么大。

富有的人是一个中年妇女，丈夫早亡，有个儿子，和自己空守着几千万财产。儿子不务正业，整天只知道吃喝玩乐，已经转了好几个学校，但仍被开除。到了后来，儿子长大了，是该自己赚钱了，可儿子却整天和一些社会上的人勾肩搭背，号称兄弟，五十多万就这样耗尽了，妇人常常好言相劝儿子，可儿子不但不领情，反而离家出走，这三百多万的大宅子只剩下妇人一个。虽然这妇人一直寻找着儿子，却仍然一无所获，音讯全无，直到有一天，儿子没有了钱，去做了杀人抢劫之事，被处决了，这世界上只剩下妇人一个。可见富裕不一定会快乐。

贫穷的人也是一个中年妇女，丈夫早逝，她整天忙活着赚钱养家，对两个孩子总是有求必应地答应孩子的一切要求，所以母子三人生活得很快乐，子女二人也明白母亲的苦，便努力学习，成绩总是班上第一，用成绩来回报母亲，母亲很高兴。有一天，一位记者来到她家的茅草屋里采访她，问她生活得快乐吗?她赫然地说：“我很快乐!”记者很惊讶，立刻问：“你为什么这么快乐?”她回答记者说：“我的子女很孝顺，虽然丈夫早逝，可是我还有子女，我还有一间茅屋，一亩薄田，我相信生活会好起来的。开心过是一天，哀怨过也是一天，我何苦怨老天，怨上帝呢?”可见，贫穷也能快乐。

快乐源自于你对生活的看法，快乐源自于你的心，正如贫穷的中年妇女所说“开心过是一天，哀怨过也是一天，我何苦怨老天，怨上帝呢?”

the airplanes widely used reach the average speed of 500 to 1000 kilometers per hour, indisputablely the fastest means of transportation. they are 20 times faster than ships, 7 times than cars, and 5 times than trains. in a world like ours where efficiency is second to none ,taking airplanes sounds fantastic.www

taking airplanes is more comfortable. passengers are free from the fatigue they may suffer when traveling by bus or train, and the cosy, noi -free cabin and the first-class servere offered both in terms of food and entertainment, convinces people that it is well worthy of paying more for it.

the mass media which are only too happy to cover the reports on air crashes occasionally occurring around our world may mislead the readers that taking flight is dangerous. actually the flight trip is considerable safer than road trip.

however, it would be termerity to claim that the motorized flight is an invention unmached by others. after all, it works in traveling alone. computer technology has introduced inventons like internet , which tend to eliminate the traveling. besides, nuclear energy, penicillin, mobile phone, credit card, hybrid rice breeding, tv set ,to name but are few, are all deniable inventions extremly important for human being.

I understand your well-respected college offers a number of places to overseas students every year, and I am writing to enquire about the application procedure.

I am at present a student at Mary High School, Hong Kong, where I have been studying for the past five years. I passed the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination last year with distinctions in English and History, and credits in Economics and English Literature. My advanced-level subjects are History, Economics and English Literature. In addition to these subjects, "Use of English" is also a compulsory subject because a pass in English is a minimum requirement for admission to most faculties of the University of Hong Kong.

Apart from academic work, I have been actively involved in extra-curricular activities. I am Chairman of the English Club and I have represented my school in many inter-school contests.

On the advice of my friends, I have decided to further my studies in England because I wish to widen my horizons and benefit from the scholarly heritage of your country.

I wish to continue to study the above-mentioned subjects at your college in the 2006/7 academic year before I sit the Advanced-level Examinations in England.
