据统计地球表面的水储量大约有140亿亿立方米，但淡水资源只有3.5亿亿立方米，在这有限的淡水资源中，仅有0.34%是人类可以利用的，由于分布不平衡，生活浪费，全世界60%的地区供水不足，严重缺乏用水，情况严峻。

各种有害的物质，如农药、重金属、化学物质、致病微生物、油类以及各种废弃放射性物质……，被人为地排入水中，并超出了水本身的进化能力，于是就发生了水污染。大量的污水物排入河流，造成内陆水域污染，继而使湖泊和海湾污染，就连地下水也难逃厄运。水污染对人的健康危害极大，污水中的致病菌可引起传染病的流行。各种工业废水、农药等有毒物质排入水中，可使饮水人中毒。重金属污染的水进入人体，会使人慢性中毒等等。

因而，我们要保护水资源，防止水污染，从身边的小事做起。比如：节约用水、使用无磷的洗衣粉……。我们要大力宣传水资源的保护知识，看见破坏水资源的行为，要向有关部门举报。

在日常生活中，水资源更是我们最亲密的伙伴了，我们事事都离不开他。然而我发现大家并不是很重视，有些人还认为浪费一点水不算什么，导致水资源浪费很多。其实只要仔细观察就可以发现水的浪费是可以避免的，水资源在很多时候是可以重复使用的。

比如，大家每天都会洗澡，其实可以买一个洗澡盆，在澡盆里洗澡。这样既不会浪费水又不会让浴室变得脏脏的。有了这个澡盆，我们在洗澡时顺便还可以把脏衣服洗了，我外婆平时就是这样在做的。

同时也不要随便浪费水资源，比如我们比较喜欢玩的水枪，其实水一旦射出去就再也不会回来，这是多么不应该啊!还有洗菜、洗衣服的水其实都可以用来冲厕所等等。
