Animals are natural resources that people have wasted all through our history. Animals have been killed for their fur and feathers, for food, for sport, and simply because they were in the way. Thousands of kinds of animals have disappeared from the earth forever. Hundreds more are on the danger list today. About 170 kinds in the United States alone are considered in danger.

Why should people care? Because we need animals, and because once they are gone, there will never be any more.Animals are more than just beautiful or interesting. They are more than just a source of food. Every animal has its place in the balance of nature. Destroying one kind of animal can create many problems. 东江源头的保护状况对于整个东江流域有着独一无二的环境和社会意义，达能中国饮料2015年初携手寻乌县政府、世界自然保护联盟(IUCN)共同启动了“魅力寻乌”水生态保护项目，通过重点推进寻乌东江源生态系统的保护和恢复、促进农村社区可持续发展以及推动公众环境教育，实现源头区域生态保护和社会发展的共同进步。

《在水一方有伊人》的主人公张艳是IUCN龙门项目负责人，近两年来一直在这个位于广东省惠州市的小县从事小流域保护工作。广东省惠州市龙门县，是达能益力矿泉水的优质水源地。从2008年开始，达能对龙门水源地展开多年水源、土壤和环境研究，建立起三级水源保护区及缓冲区，对水源地进行着全方位保护。

2014年，达能携手世界自然保护联盟等发起“生态龙门，活力东江——嘉泉水源地可持续保护”项目，推动社区体系建设、生态恢复和替代生计，通过可持续的方法，达到促进当地社区经济、恢复生态与保护天然水源的和谐发展。
