Recently, “clearyour plate” campaign is more and more popular in society, which advocates saving against wasting. The campaign draws our attention to wasting on campus.Some students are noticed to throw away a lot of food in the canteen. As is often the case, some lights are still on with nobody in classrooms. What’s more, many a student spends much money buying unnecessary items. As far as Iam concerned, it’s high time that we fought against wasting. Here’re my suggestions. Firstly, I think our school should carry out various activities to arouse students’ awareness of saving. Secondly, relevant rules and regulations are supposed to be made to punish those who waste things. Most importantly, we should form the habit of saving from now. It is everybody’s duty to save resources.

Knowledge can be acquired from many sources. These include books, teachers

and practical experience, and each has its own advantages. The knowledge we gain

from books and formal education enables us to learn about things that we have no

opportunity to experience in daily life. We can study all the places in the

world and learn from people we will never meet in our lifetime, just by reading

about them in books. We can also develop our analytical skills and learn how to

view and interpret the world around us in different ways. Furthermore, we can

learn from the past by reading books. In this way, we won’t repeat the mistakes

of others and can build on their achievements.

Practical experience, on the other hand, can give us more useful knowledge.

It is said that one learns best by doing, and I believe that this is true,

whether one is successful or not. In fact, I think making mistakes is the best

way to learn. Moreover, if one wants to make new advances, it is necessary to

act. Innovations do not come about through reading but through experimentation.

Finally, one can apply the skills and insights gained through the study of books

to practical experience, making an already meaningful experience more

meaningful. However, unless it is applied to real experiences, book knowledge

remains theoretical and, in the end, is useless. That is why I believe that

knowledge gained from practical experience is more important than that acquired

from books.

The first snow came. How beautiful it was, falling so silently all day

long, all night long, on the mountains, on the meadows, on the roofs of the

living, on the graves of the dead! All white save the river, that marked its

course by a winding black line across the landscape; and the leafless trees,

that against the leaden sky now revealed more fully the wonderful beauty and

intricacies of their branches. What silence, too, came with the snow, and what

seclusion! Every sound was muffled, every noise changed to something soft and

musical. No more tramping hoofs, no more rattling wheels! Only the chiming of

In current society,thanks to the deepening reform and opening-up,there is

so much unemployment, the competition for jobs is very fierce.In an effort to

land a decent job ,a host of school-leavers choose to attend the graduate

school‘s test.They want to learn more knowledge before acquiring a fine job.They

also can be confident in taking interviews.Consequently,attending the graduate

school‘s test is pevalent increasingly in late several years.

Among other folks intend to secure a job after graduating.Although the

competition for jobs is very fierce,it is also very difficult to find out a fine

job for colleage students.After a couple of years,the number of the graduate

students is sharply up-swing.It is same to face job problems for graduate

students.Secuing a job after graduating can accumulate experience in order to

get on well in the future.

In my eyes,the Middle kingdom enjoys a booming economy, a rising number of

companys from overseas come to built themselves factories.We are facing

opportunities and challenges.We might well choose to land a job after

graduating.Plus,we are still young,we can choose to attend the graduate school‘s

test after accumulating working experience.It will be wise for us to do

that.

As it is known to us, Ping An was chosen to perform on the CCTV Spring

Festival Gala with his melodious and strong voice. Also, he had a great

achievement on this dream stage. Although he hadnt gain the popularity among

the audience at the beginning, he always kept his dream in mind and never gave

it up. It is his success that brings home to me the power of dream.

A life without a dream is a life without a sun. Therefore, in no

circumstances can we give up our dream. Unquestionably, dreams are of great

importance. For one thing, a person having a dream will be considered to be more

responsible and unswerving. For another, in pursuit of our dream, there is a

chance that good habits and positive attitudes can be formed, contributing to

our success.

As for our students, what we should do is to choose a healthy seed and

plant it on fertilized soil. Firstly, knowledge is the foundation of dream

realization, so we should spend much time in study to enrich ourselves.

Secondly, it also takes perseverance and confidence if we want to realize our

dreams. Last but not least, we should not be craven and timorous but brave when

we meeting obstacles.

My mother is sixty-three years old, and for the last forty year she has

been the village doctor. She has a small clinic that she prepares medicine and

treats small injuries, and also sells canned powder milk. Our house has people

in and out at all hours of the day and night. The villagers always like to come

to her clinic to see the doctor and to meet their neighbors, too. Almost all the

villagers come to my mother when their baby is due. My mother is very good at

predicting the day the baby will come. Sometimes my mother will not get enough

sleep if the babies come late at night or early in the morning. There are

special rooms for the mother and baby, and usually they stay at the doctors

house about twenty-four hours. We always like to see the new babies get their

first bath because they look so red and small. All the village people know and

trust my mother because she is such a quiet, kind, and experienced friend of

theirs.

According to the Chinese tradition，at the very beginning of a new year，

when there is a bright full moon hanging in the sky， there should be thousands

of colorful lanterns hung out.

During the Lantern Festival， people will try to solve the puzzles on the

lanterns and eat yuanxiao (glutinous rice ball)。

In the Sui Dynasty in the sixth century， Emperor Yangdi invited envoys from

other countries to China to see the colorful lighted lanterns and enjoy the gala

performances.

By the beginning of the Tang Dynasty in the seventh century， the lantern

displays would last three days. The emperor also lifted the curfew， allowing the

people to enjoy the festive lanterns day and night.

In the Song Dynasty， the festival was celebrated for five days and the

activities began to spread to many of the big cities in China.

Today，3the displaying of lanterns is still a big event on the 15th day of

the first lunar month throughout China.

The fillings inside the dumplings or Yuansiao are either sweet or salty.

Sweet fillings are made of sugar，Walnuts，sesame，osmanthus flowers，rose petals，or

jujube paste etc. A single ingredient or any combination can be used as the

filling . The salty variety is filled with minced meat，vegetables etc.

The Ten-minute Break Between Classes Time seems to be so limited for us Senior Three students. As a result, more and more students try to study from early morning till late afternoon, even during the ten-minute breaks. In my view, taking a ten minute break between classes is equally important. Otherwise, we will feel exhausted both physically and mentally,During the ten minute break, we are supposed to do something really relaxing, we need is to have a rest, instead of getting more tired. Besides, studying during the break doesn ’ t necessarily mean that you will achieve more. So doing nothing tiring in that short period is of greater significance. As far as my ten-minute breaks are concerned, sometimes I take some simple exercise, such as having a walk with my classmates, or just a free chat to refresh myself. When the next class begins, I feel energetic again.

Many people believe that having a lot of money is the greatest happiness in

life. But I dont agree with them, because money is not everything. Money cant

make us a true man.

The way I see it, good health is much better than a lot of wealth. No

matter how much money we have, we’ll not feel happy at all if we are in poor

health. In order to be healthy, we must keep a positive attitude and have a good

living habit.

Apart from good health, we must be diligent at work. As long as we work

hard, we cannot just make a good living, but enrich our minds.

Additionally, we ought to give our helpful hands to others when they are in

need. While helping others, we can own a good fame as well as get more social

experience. Its really a good way to kill two birds with one stone. Only by

doing so can we enjoy the happiest life.

Today is Dragon Boat Festival. My mother let me watch the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival from the computer. In fact, it was a memorial to Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan was a patriot. He wanted to make his country strong and often give advice to the king, but the king did not like to listen and he drove him out of the country.

Once the Qin state came to the state of Chu, the state of Chu was quickly defeated, the country was soon lost, and Qu Yuan was more sad. In the early May of this year, five, he moved a big stone and threw himself into the river. People know, very sad, in order not to let the fish eat Qu Yuan, put the dumplings inside the bamboo tube, throw it into the river, hope that the fish will not eat Qu Yuan, the dumplings are like this.

This story tells us to love our country. I also know, now eat dumplings, but is bamboo, replaced by a kind of broad leaves. Eating zongzi is also a memorial to Qu Yuan.

My dad bought a computer when I was five years old. I could draw pictures

and listen to music on it.

But once, the computer was down suddenly.

My dad told me that it might be attacked by computer virus.

I was so scared that I asked dad anxiously, "Did it get a flu? Did it need

some medicine?" But dad laughed and said smilingly, "Dont be silly, son.

No medicine can cure a computer virus. Its a problem of program." I didnt

understand what my dad said at that time.

But I made up my mind to study hard and to be a computer expert in the

Cellular phones have had a major impact on our lives and the way that we

perform every day tasks. Many of these changes are apparent, while others we may

not even be aware of.

Cell phones have brought a whole new meaning to the term multitasking.

Twenty years ago, it was not possible to talk to the office while you were at

the grocery store picking up some necessary items. You could never have had a

three-way business conference while you were fixing dinner or been able to deal

with a business client from home while caring for a sick child. Cell phones have

enabled us to do various tasks all at the same time.

Cell phones have also enabled families to keep in closer touch with each

other. Children can contact you if they have missed their ride form soccer

practice and your spouse can call while he is stuck in traffic to let you know

that he is going to be late for supper. Teenagers are able to call to ask

permission to go somewhere, and with GPS features that are now available on some

cell phones, you are able to check to make sure that they are where they are

suppose to be.

Many of these advantages we do not even notice. Have you ever arrived at

the grocery store and realized that you have forgotten your grocery list? The

first thing you would probably do is to call home and have one of your children

read the list off to you. In the same situation in past years, you may have

forgotten things or have had to drive all the way back home to get it. If your

car breaks down, you automatically call for help instead of having to walk to

find a pay phone. Cell phones have certainly made our lives much more

convenient.

Cell phones have also changed the way that people interact with each other.

When we call someone, we are actually calling the person and not a place. This

enables us to be more spontaneous when making plans as you rarely get a busy

signal and unlike a land line telephone, someone is always home. Cell phones

also enable us to call if we are going to be late for an appointment, although

this has led to cell phone users running late more often than those who do not

have cell phones. These users seem to have adopted the attitude that appointment

times are not concrete and use their cell phones to renegotiate their arrival

time.

One of the greatest disadvantages of the cellular phone is the fact that we

do not talk to strangers when traveling anymore. In the past, several people

waiting for a bus would engage in a conversation while they were waiting. People

who traveled the same routes every day might develop friendships along the way.

This situation does not happen anymore. Today when people are waiting for a bus,

they just pull out their cell phones and speak with old friends, missing out on

the opportunity to make new ones. In large cities, many people do not know their

neighbors, even though they may have lived in the same neighborhood for years.

As a society, we are beginning to lose the face-to-face contact that was such an

important part of our lives in the past.

Cell phones are a great asset in aiding in our every day lives. You should

remember, however, to hang up every once in a while and pay attention to the

world around you.

Last weekend, I wanted to swim in the river that I usually wen in the

childhood. When I went there, I was shock. The river is no longer like before.

It was full of rubbish. It seemed that the rubbish is from the villagers

themselves. In order to put the rubbish nearer, they put all of them into the

river. Not only the water is not clean any more, the river also smelt bad. I

real touched. Why human and the environment couldn’t live harmonious? Long time

ago, they could get along with each other. Why not now? People have to stop

their behavior to harm the environment. Otherwise, it would cause destruction to

both sides.

When memory began for me, my grandfather was past sixty-a great tall man

with thick hair becoming gray. He had black eyes and a straight nose which ended

in a slightly flattened tip. Once he explained seriously to me that he got that

flattened tip as a small child when he fell down and stepped on his nose.

The little marks of laughter at the corners of his eyes were the prodnct of

a kindly and humorous nature. The years of work which had bent his shoulders had

never dulled his humour nor his love of a joke.

Everywhere he went, "Gramp" made friends easily. At the end of half an hour

you felt you had known him all your life. I soon learned that he hated to give

orders , but that when he had to, he tried to make his orders sound like

suggestions.

One July morning, as he was leaving to go to the cornfield, he said :

"Edwin, you can pick up the potatoes in the field today if you want to do that.

" Then he drove away with his horses.

The day passed, and I did not have any desire to pick up potatoes. Evening

came and the potatoes were still in the field. Gramp, dusty and tired, led the

horses to get their drink.

"How many bags of potatoes were there?" Gramp inquired. "I dont know.

"

"How many potatoes did you pick up?"

"I didnt pick any. " "Not any! Why not?"

"You said I could pick, them up if I wanted to. You didnt say I had to.

"

In the next few minutes I learned a lesson I would not forget: when Gramp

said I could if I wanted to, he meant that I should want to.

Gram hated cruelty and injustice. The injustices of history, even those of

a thousand years before, angered her as much as the injustices of her own

day.

She also had a deep love of beauty. When she was almost seventy-five, and

had gone to live with one of her daughters, she spent a delightful morning

washing dishes because, as she said, the beautiful patterns on the dishes gave

her pleasure. The bird, the flowers, the clouds-all that was beautiful around

her- pleased her. She was like the father of the French painter, Millet, who

used to gather grass and show it to his son , saying , "See how beautif ul this

is ! "

In a pioneer society it is the harder qualities of mind and character that

are of value. The softer virtues are considered unnecessary. Men and women

struggling daily to earn a living are unable, even for a moment, to forget the

business of preserving their lives. Only unusual people, like my grandparents,

manage to keep the softer qualities in a world of daily struggle.

Such were the two people with whom I spent the months from June to

September in the wonderful days of summer and youth.

I love reading, which enriches my knowledge and helps me know more about

the world. I love the school atmosphere. Students study together here and make

progress gradually. My favorite place here is library. I can read many books

here. Once I have some questions, I can find a lot of information. We fight for

the goal and plan details in the library in group task. I have so many good

memories to study here, which makes me so happy. No matter which school I am in,

I will always find this quiet corner and study what I like. I love the feelings

there.

There are many festivals in a year, I love Children’s day, because on that

day, I can have many candies from school. In the school, i will play many games,

there will be no class on Children’s day, everybody will have fun. Children’s

day is my favorite day, the day belongs to me. I enjoy that day so much. My

parents will also celebrate it for me.

Hometown is the place where a person belongs. Chinese people have special

feelings about their hometown. No matter where they go, they won’t abandon it

and always make some time to visit. My hometown brings me so many happy memories

and I wish it could keep its original face forever.

Two years ago, I lived in my hometown. It is a small village, so people

there get familiar with each other. When we walked on the country road, everyone

smiled when we saw each other. There was no distance for us. In the daytime, I

liked to go boating in the small river with my friends, or sometimes I could

catch fish. The green trees around me and I could hear the birds singing all the

time. It was a paradise for me.

However, even the small paradise can’t avoid being polluted seriously. The

environment is no more clean, the river becomes smaller and the water is so

dirty. When I see this, I feel so pity. If we lose the clean land, how can we

survive for long. Protecting the environment is in need.

I’m going to the sun on my holiday. I will go there by a spaceship. I will

take a big blue spaceship. Then I’ll pilot the spaceship to the sun. The sun is

very hot. So I put on the super-shirt. In the morning, I will have some sun

burger for my breakfast.

At eight o’clock, I will play with my friends there. They are super dog and

super girl. Super dog is white and black. Super girl is very clever. Super girl

and super dog like to play with me. So I play with them for forty minutes. Then

I do my homework in my little red room on a small blue table. After my home

work, I will have my lunch. I will eat sun salad. I will make some red toy bear

to the sun babies. I will have red juice, red fish and red rice. All the things

are red. Then I need a lot of water on the sun because the sun is too hot. So I

will walk to the spaceship. I’ll pilot the spaceship to the earth.

This is a good holiday on the sun.

It was Mother’s Day.Sun Zheng thought he should do something for

hismother.He decided to help his mother do some housework.After school he went

toa shop to buy some food on his way home.

When he got home, he did his best to cook some nice food,though he

couldn’tdo the cooking well.Thenhe cleaned the room.He felt very tired, but he

wasvery happy.

When his father and his mother came back and saw the clean rooms and

disheswhich weren’t so nice, they were very happy.They had their supper

together.Hismother said, "Thank you,my child!"

Mothers Day Mother’s Day is a holiday when children honor their mothers with

cards, gifts and flowers. In many countries, such as Denmark, Finland, Italy,

Turkey, Australia and the US, people cel lebrate Mother’s Day on the second

Sunday in May while many other countries of the world celebrate their own

Mother’s day at different times through out the year.

One of the best ways to celebrate Mother’s Day is to give your mom the day

off. Let her relax with the rest of the family doing all the housework. Usually,

dad and the kids will let mom sleep late that morning as they go into the

kitchen to prepare her favourite breakfast. Never forget to place a vase with a

single flower on the table beside the food. The kids can pick up the flower from

the garden or buy one from the shop. Arrange everything nicely before mom wakes

up. Some families will carry the food and mom’s favourite sections from the

newspaper to her bedroom so that mom can have breakfast in bed. Presents and

cards from the kids can be handed to mom by themselves or just placed on the

dining table.

After breakfast, go anywhere mom likes to go. Shopping, swimming or going on

a picnic in the garden. Make a special Mother’s Day dinner or take mom out for a

great meal in a famous restaurant she loves most.

Anyway ,let mom enjoy the whole day and feel your love, and then the Mother’s

Day can be a good one. As Mother’s Day is around the corner, it’s time to take

actions!
