These days Ive just finished the novel Uncle Toms Cabin that left a really deep impression on me and we can see.

It is a book written in 1852 in response to the passage of the Fugitive Slave Law， Uncle Toms Cabin has been considered as the most influential anti-slavery novel in that period and described by Stowe herself as a “series of sketches” describing the human cruelty of slavery， opens with a description of Arthur Shelbys Kentucky plantation during the antebellum period.

There are several impressive characters in this novel， George who is clever and brave;Harry， a beautiful and talented child who sings dances and mimes;Mrs. Shelby， a very religious woman;Sambo and Qimbo and so on. The major character Uncle Tom who was the most impressive in this novel was a devout Christian. He endured the miserable fate bravely and aroused the whites sympathy for slaves with his Christs sacrifice and the tolerance of returning good for evil. This novel focuses on the distinctive personalities of Uncle Tom deeply influenced by Christianity and the important role Uncle Toms Cabin playing on abolition; and the Significance of “Uncle Tom” to the harmonious worlds development， and the effect on modern people.

In the book， at the beginning， the author presents us a very beautiful image of a rather harmonious family who live a happy life. However， that beautiful image couldnt last long， the darkness came soon. The master of this happy family， Uncle Tom was arranged into a difficult situation. As Shelby， the not cruel master， he has incurred serious debts- prompting him sell some slaves to avoid financial ruin， so Uncle Tom， Shelbys loyal servant since childhood was sold to Mr. Haley， the slave trader. Uncle Tom remained loyal to his master， despite his betrayal and the risk of death at the cruel hands of a new master. The slaves at the plantation were very mournful， but Tom remained placid and tried to read his Bible for fort. On the steamboat to New Orleans， where Tom was to be sold， Tom befriended an angelic little girl， “Little Eva” St. Clare. Uncle Tom saved the five-year-old beauty from drowning， and she convinced her father to buy Tom for her own family. In her family， Tom enjoye.

But Mr. St. Clare is so sad by her death that he never legally freed Tom before he himself was killed trying to mediate a barroom scuffle. Mrs. St. Clare sold the slaves to settle her husbands debts and Tom was sold to Simon Legree who was so violent that beat his slaves brutally. At last， when Mr. Shelby， finally found Uncle Tom， he was almost died. After Tom was dead and buried， Shelby went back and freed his slaves.

As we all can see that Uncle Toms Cabin was an anti-slavery novel and it was even considered as one factor that caused the Civil War. In the novel， the slaves were sold from one place to another frequently， and their fate was tragic， with no exception- just like Uncle Tom， no matter he was under the control of kind masters or evil masters， he cant escape the misfortune of being sold from one master to another. We cant see any human right of them， so terrible.

As someone said， with more people realizing the inhumanity of slavery in the 19th century， slavery became one of the most important issues and it became more violent year by year in American society. However， slavery was not abolished irrevocably until ratification of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution in 1865， following the Civil War. After the passage of Fugitive Slave Act of 1850， Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote this novel Uncle Toms Cabin which publicized the evil of slavery to a wide audience.

Now we are in the 21st century， we may never e across such kind of thing. However， this book can always remind of us that there ever has existed this evil and we cant let it happen again. And “equality” 、“human right ” cant just be a slogan， we should make it e true really and always.

有两则关于同一条英语谚语Blood is thicker than water的译例。其一是“清水不浓血却浓”，其二是“血浓于水”。从字面上看，上述两则译例译得固然不错，似无可厚非。译文读起来很顺，又比较易懂，但读后似有不知所云之感。

这是因为译文的形象没能准确地传达出这条谚语的喻义来。

Longman Dictionary of English Idioms（p.28）上对这条谚语的解释是“The relationship between people of the same family is stronger than other，relationships”因此，这则谚语似可以借用汉语中一句俗语“亲不亲一家人”来译更能表达出“属于同一血缘关系的一家人比别人更亲近一些”的寓意。

语言是文化的表现形式。谚语同文学作品、诗歌一样是语言的精华。英语谚语是富于色彩的语言形式，一般具有生动形象、喻义明显、富于哲理的语言特征。在一定程度上，英语谚语反映了英语民族的文化特点。因此，翻译英语谚语时，仅仅以语言之间词汇的同义性（等价性）为前提，寻求对等的表现是不够的。译者须较多运用汉语的表现手段，力求能再现英语谚语的语言风格和丰富内涵。只有多注意英语谚语字面以外所特有的语言内涵色彩，才能使译文讽喻得当，宜于说理，又不失原来谚语所具有的语言形象。

某些英语谚语和汉语成语、俗语在表现形式和含义方面是一致的或基本一致的。汉译这些英语时，可惜用与其喻义相同或相近的成语或谚语及俗语直接对译。这样不但可以比较好地保持原文的神韵和形式，又使译文易于为读者或听者接受。如：

Pride comes before a fall．骄兵必败。

Amiss is as good as a mile.差之毫厘，失之千里。

Two is company，but three is none.两个和尚抬水吃，三个和尚无水吃。

Walls have ear.隔墙有耳。

Enough is as good as a feast．知足常乐。

有些英语谚语虽然在语言习惯和文化背景方面和其相对的汉语谚语之间存在着某些差异，而且所比喻的事物并不一样，但他们的喻义却相互吻合，而且表达方式也很相似，汉译这些英语谚语时，常常需要“易其形式，存其精神”，即采用形象近似的汉语成语意译。这样可使译文既喻义明显，又含而不露，且可再现原文所具有的语言效果，容易达意。如：

Two can play the game.孤掌难鸣。

Newbroom sweeps clean.新官上任三把火。

Speak of the devil，and he appears.说曹操，曹操到。

The grass is greener on the other side of the hill．这山望着那山高。

Putting the cart before the horse.本末倒置。

有些英语谚语意在言外，语言含蓄，寓意深刻。如果仅从字面意义直译成汉语，而不领会原文的具体含义及其效果，译文势必平淡无味。这样既不能表达意思，又有损于原文的语言形象和丰富内涵。因此，在翻译时，应在汉语中寻找那些与原文喻义相同或效果相似的成语、谚语或俗语来表达，则会使译文形象生动，准确达意。试比较下列各译例。

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.如译成“住在玻璃房子里的人，不应扔石头”不如译成“己有过，勿正人”或“责人必先责己”。

In fair weather prepare for the foul．如译成“晴天要防阴天”，不如译成“有备无患”或“居安思危”或“未雨绸缪”。

Murder will out．如译成“谋杀终必败露”，不如译成“纸包不住火”。

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread．如译成“愚者敢闯天使不敢去的地方”，不如译成“初生牛犊不怕虎”。

One cannot make an omelette without breaking eggs.如译成“想吃煎蛋卷，就得打鸡蛋”，不如译成工“有得必有失”或甚至可以引申为“不破不立”。

如果所要翻译的谚语喻义清新，形象逼真，按其字面直译其意，就能表达出原文的喻义来，则可直译。这样做既能较完整地保存原文的表达方式，且又可丰富我们自己的语言文化，一举两得，请看下面的译例。

God helps those who help themselves.上帝帮助那些自己帮助自己的人。或“自助者天助之”。

Money is the root of all evil．金钱是万恶之源。

An empty sack cannot stand upright．空袋立不直。

Do as you would be done by. 以你所期望的别人待你的方式待人。

这与另一谚语： Don’t do unto others what you don’t want others do unto you.“己所不欲勿施于人”很相似。

Money talks.钱能通神。

有些英语谚语常常采用对称的修辞手段。使用这一修辞手段的目的在于加强语势，宜于说理，读后有心悦诚眼之感。汉译这些谚语时，应适当注意保持其修辞色彩，以便体现原文的表达方式。如：

You may take a horse to the water， but you can’t make it drink．

如果按字面译成，“你可以把马牵到河边去，但不能叫它饮水”至少是没有充分体现这句谚语本身所具有的强烈对比色彩。从语法分析的观点看，在这个句子里，情态动词may和can虽然都表示“可能”的，但在含义上有所不同。这里may表示“事实上的可能性”，而can则表示“逻辑上的可能性”。并列连词but使前后两个分句意义相反，对比色彩强烈。在这种情况下，译文也必须力求对偶整齐，前后呼应，形成对照。如将此句译作“牵马河边易，逼它饮水难”或“老牛不喝水，不能强按头”会更好些。

总之，即使像谚语这样孤立的语句，翻译时也需尽一番揣摩切磋之功，否则译文就可能与原文“貌合神离”，文不达意。译事艰辛也许正在于此。

有一次，司马光跟小伙伴在后院里玩耍，院子里有一口大水缸，有一个小孩不小心掉到缸里，眼看那孩子快没救了，司马光捡起地上的一块石头，向那一口缸砸去。小孩得救了。通过这一件事，我们知道司马光是怎样用智慧战胜困难的。

1美丽的草原

今年暑假，我和老爸去了草原玩。草原远远望去，像一块巨大的地毯一望无际，一群群洁白的羊群像点缀在这块巨大地毯上的花朵，她的美丽令我自今难忘。

我们先到了北京，再由北京出发又坐了一夜的火车，到了呼和浩特，然后又坐了好几个小时的汽车，终于来到了草原。下车后我们受到了热情好客的草原牧民的热烈欢迎，并向我们敬献了哈达和下马酒。站在这辽阔的草原上，我看到这一望无际的草原，仿佛是一块巨大的地毯，站在这绿油油、软蓬蓬的“地毯”上，心中顿时升起了无比的快乐，就像是在炎热的夏天吹到了清新凉爽的柔风一样。再往远处看，一群群羊儿在自由自在的吃草，碧蓝的天空和那碧绿的草原在远远的天边连成一条线，那景象简直是太美了!

下午，我和老爸骑马漫步草原，草原上一座座小山坡长满了平整碧绿的小草，像披上了美丽的外衣，连峦起伏。身边不时地出现一群群可爱的羊儿，和天上的朵朵白云相映成趣，使美丽的草原更添美色。草原的夜色更是别有情趣，黑天鹅绒般的天空上，镶嵌着无数颗美丽的星星，那天空的黑，星星的亮，都是我从未看到过的，令我忍不住的尖声大叫和手舞足蹈。一条圣洁银河出现在美丽的夜空上，南北走向，把美丽的夜空划分为东西两片，在银河的两旁最大、最亮的两颗星就是牛郎织女星了，他们在隔河相望，相互辉映。啊，草原的夜空真是美丽极啦!

夜深了，在爸爸不停的催促下，我才依依不舍的走进了蒙古包。

2美丽的草原

今年夏天爸爸妈妈带我开车去了坝上草原，这可是我坐车去的最远的地方，离我们这里有一千多公里呢！那里到处都是绿色，零星点缀(zhui)着美丽的泡子（湖泊），马儿在悠闲地吃草，像仙境，像一幅画，像童话王国……

草原上有许多美丽的野花：有红的，淡黄的，浅蓝的，深粉的，组成了美丽的大花园。肥沃的泥土上长着又肥又嫩的青草，真想扑上去闻闻那清香的草味，在草地上打滚，那是多么快乐呀！

草原上还有许多湖泊，将军泡子、野鸭湖、公主湖……白天，湖水像一面面镜子，倒映着蓝天、白云、绿草美丽的身影。到了傍晚，水就变成蓝蓝的了，成群的野鸭飞回来了，在水面上悠闲地游来游去。

草原上有一种我没见过的动物，呵呵，那就是“大眼贼”。别以为有“贼”这个字，就是真正的贼，其实大眼贼是老鼠的一种，毛茸茸的，见人就跑可胆小了！有时候，我们看见大眼贼站起来，像“小士兵”一样，好像在站岗放哨，有的半蹲着，前爪拿着食物吃得津津有味。有一次，我们实在太好奇就打算挖开它的洞一探究竟，可调皮的大眼猴却在另一个洞里出来，好像在嘲笑我们：“嘿嘿，别挖了，我‘搬家’了!嘻嘻!”你瞧，大眼贼可爱吧！

3草原

也许因为这个夏天太沉闷，心灵焦渴得无法忍受，于是踏上征途，踏上内蒙古的大草原，去寻找甘露，滋润心灵。

天很蓝很蓝，蓝得透明，蓝得透彻，轻易让人望到它的心扉，棉花糖似的云朵，使一切都有了丝丝缕缕的甜蜜。有鸟从头顶飞过，啼鸣不止。忽然想起成吉思汗的“弯弓射大雕”，便也折一木枝弯作弓，射一细草而出，看它随风飘远。成吉思汗射出的是一个民族的兴亡，我射出的则只是几许仰望蓝天的梦想，一个振翅欲翔的希望。在这里，一望无际的内蒙古大草原，离天是那么近，那么近，真想去亲亲它温柔的面颊，再在它甜蜜的呼吸中睡着。

水那么清的一汪水，赫然出现在草原的怀抱中。从乱石间隙蹿出，又悄悄掩于杂草之中，给人以无限遐想，源自哪里，又去往何方？我则想那是一汪无根之水，寻家的途中路过了大草原，蓝蓝的天，漫漫的草，空气中弥漫着浓郁的气息，纵使不是家，谁还愿舍去这家的感觉继续跋涉？

今天，我站在草原上，我愿了解草原，感受它的呼吸。我听到了，感受到了，天边甜蜜的呼吸，水上徐徐散开的叹息，花香中轻吹而送万里的那满口香甜。还有，一些梦想，一些希望，一种美好的呼之欲出，来自花斑的奶牛，来自紧跟在妈妈身后的小马驹，来自蒙古包的一碗热气腾腾的奶茶，呼唤你心底深处的纯朴，与这大草原无尽的绵绵呼吸相融———

于是，最美好的和谐钻进了手掌，你紧紧攥着，再也不愿放手……

没有喧嚣，没有尘埃，没有灯红酒绿。只有我在这茫茫无边的草原上的一些发现，一些遐想，希望唤起对大自然美丽的共鸣，希望这个夏天的这次征途，真的是对心灵的善待。
