Jarvis persuaded her mothers church in Grafton, West Virginia to celebrate mothers day on the second anniversary of her mothers death, which was the second sunday in May. The next year mothers day was again celebrated in Philadelphia. Jarvis and others began a letter-writing campaign to ministers, businessmen, and politicians in their quest to establish a national mothers day. They were successful. In 1914, the American president proclaimed mothers day a national observance that was to be held each year on the second sunday of May.

我的房间靠近阳台，坐北朝南，南面有个大窗户，窗户旁边有一扇门是通向阳台的，这里既宽敞又明亮。房间正中间有一张粉白相间的儿童床，宽1.2米，长2米。我很喜欢它，因为它很美，特别吸引人的是床头的板面上画有四条粉红色的长短不一的平行线，旁边有一条曲线像弯弯的小河。它们中间镶有四颗银灰色的珠子，真像四颗银宝石。床边摆着一个床头柜，柜子上摆着我喜爱的维尼熊和阿里兔。床的对面摆着一套书桌，它分为柜子和桌子，柜子上安装着透明的玻璃门，它的四周嵌着闪闪发光的珠子，真像夜空中的点点星光。柜子里摆满了各种各样的课外书，有童话书、科学书、寓言书……书桌上放着一盏花猫护眼灯，每当我在做功课时，它都发出明亮的护眼光照亮我。书桌旁边的墙面上挂着一幅对联：书山有路勤为径，学海无涯苦作舟。它对面的墙上帖着一幅幅我亲手画的漫画，有奔跑的小马弟弟、`勤劳的小蜜蜂妹、可爱的小鸭姐姐……看着看着，我仿佛进入了童话世界。

我的房间，你是我学习和生活的好地方，你给我带来了无比的快乐。
