三、要细心观察

注意英语中一些表达上的习惯。比如在正式文体的写作中，很少用 “it isn’t”这样的略缩形式，而往往是一板一眼地写作 “it is not”。同理，在正式文体中的日期一般不缩写，阿拉伯数字一般会用英文表达(特别长的数字除外)。

许多同学在写作文时，习惯于把 “since” “because” “for”这样的词放在句首引导原因状语从句。事实上，在我们见到的英语报刊杂志文章中，这样的从句一般都是放在主句之后的。另外, “and”也常常被误放在一句话的开头，表示两个句子之间的并列或递进关系。其实，经常留心地道的英语文章能发现，如果是并列关系，完全可以不用连词;如果是递进关系，用 “furthermore” “what is more”更为普遍。

如同大自然一样，智慧也有其自身的景象。智慧即是一间寂寞空屋，不盘花簇锦亦不金碧辉煌，只如蝉蜕一般在灰色的雨幕中微微闪耀着一星光华，于漫漫长夜中点燃了一豆灯火。

寂寞空屋，耐得住寂寞亦拒绝悲凉。蝉之生命有限，于阴暗潮湿的地下蛰伏数载只为了一个夏天。数千个寂寞长夜它们无言熬过，待到一朝羽化，便成为盛夏最出色的歌者。这时，它们的生命已然垂垂老矣。人之老年，免不了自怜自哀，忧伤慨叹，哪里来的心情唱什么歌呢?可蝉偏不。“乌发如银”的时节偏要日日欢歌，这便是生命的大气度。

寂寞空屋，可有形可无形，是一个人此生生命存在的证据。人之智慧便在这空屋中岁岁积淀，蕴于血脉的最深处。项脊轩，旧南阁子也。这是归有光的寂寞空屋。室仅方丈，容不下金银珠宝亦容不下繁华如梦，容得下的仅是那一份割舍不断的回忆。“某所，而母立于兹……”归有光在这里读书成长，身后有母亲嘘寒问暖的身影。空屋虽寂寞，此心却温柔，体察父母亲情，就是我们最平实的智慧感悟。

寂寞空屋，给高蹈以平实，给浮华不定的心灵以脚踏实地的依靠。史铁生活到最狂妄的年纪上忽然残废了双腿。他的世界，从此不再有欢笑嬉闹。他走进地坛，走进百代帝王家遗落下的那一间寂寞空屋。他看见叶上阳光、花间蜂蝶，他听见这世界繁华落尽，生命一如往昔的答案。“死亡是一个必然来临的节日”，史铁生如是说。他的生命于此一间寂寞空屋中褪去了年少气盛，褪去了高蹈与不切实际的幻梦，他拥抱敞开的生命之门，成为智者。

人活于世，往往被各种各样的幻光所眩惑，心灵与智性迷失在追逐所谓天堂的路途中。其实，“天堂不是一处空间，不是一种物质性存在，而是道路，是精神的坦途。”我偏居一隅，独拥这一方智慧的寂寞空屋，我已在天堂。

I’m writing to tell you about the discussion we have had about whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks. 60% of us schoolmates think that an entrance fee do not meet people’s expectations, for a park is considered to be a place where the public can have a good time when they are not busy either at home or at work. If an entrance fee must be paid by the visitors for a park, it will be necessary to build a gate and surrounding walls. In the end a city will take on a bad look. 40% of us schoolmates think that an entrance fee can be accepted, but it must not be too expensive. The money from ticket selling can be used for paying the gardeners in the park and buying some other kinds of flowers and trees.

With regard to myself, I think an entrance fee is useful, for it can be used to protect a park. Do we share the same opinion, dear editor?

The college entrance exam is a big exam for students, they have learned so many years for the purpose of entering the college. For most person, they have the very deep impression about the big exam, it has changes so many people’s destinies. I had taken part in the exam, I remember it clearly, the situation just like happened yesterday. I studied so hard, in those days that were nearing the exam, all the students focus their attention on the study, we fought together. The paper and the books were piled up our desks, when I entered the classroom, I hardly could see my classmates’ heads.
