向日葵，圆圆的脸，从太阳起时一直到太阳落下山，总是向着太阳微笑，所以有时人们也称它为“朝阳花”

向日葵的花盘为什么总是朝着太阳转呢?我查了《十万个为什么》之后，再经过一上午的观察才明白，原来在花盘下面的茎干里有一种奇妙的“植物生长素”。这种生长素很调皮，喜欢和太阳公公玩“捉迷藏”。当红红的太阳从东边升起。照射在向日葵上，它花盘下面的茎干里的“植物生长素”就躲到背光的一面去。因为它一遇到光，就会受到破坏。这些“生长素”躲在花盘茎干的背面生长，就使花盘朝着太阳公公弯曲，中午，太阳光强烈时，花盘正好与太阳垂直，这样“生长素”就一直不被太阳照着，生长也特快。
