从1994年开始，钱钟书住进医院，缠绵病榻，全靠杨绛一人悉心照料。不久，女儿钱瑗也病中住院，与钱钟书相隔大半个北京城，当时八十多岁的杨绛来回奔波，辛苦异常。钱钟书已病到不能进食，只能靠鼻饲，医院提供的匀浆不适宜吃，杨绛就亲自来做，做各种鸡鱼蔬菜泥，炖各种汤，鸡胸肉要剔得一根筋没有，鱼肉 一根小刺都不能有。“钟书病中，我只求比他多活一年。照顾人，男不如女。我尽力保养自己，争求‘夫在先，妻在后’，错了次序就糟糕了。”1997年，被杨 绛称为“我平生唯一杰作”的爱女钱瑗去世。一年后，钱钟书临终，一眼未合好，杨绛附他耳边说：“你放心，有我呐!”内心之沉稳和强大，令人肃然起敬。“钟 书逃走了，我也想逃走，但是逃到哪里去呢?我压根儿不能逃，得留在人世间，打扫现场，尽我应尽的责任。”当年已近九十高龄的杨绛开始翻译柏拉图的《斐多 篇》。2003年，《我们仨》出版问世，这本书写尽了她对丈夫和女儿最深切绵长的怀念，感动了无数中国人。而时隔四年，96岁高龄的杨绛又意想不到地推出 一本散文集《走到人生边上》，探讨人生的价值和灵魂的去向，被评论家称赞：“九十六岁的文字，竟具有初生婴儿的纯真和美丽。”走到人生的边上，她愈战愈 勇，唯愿“死者如生，生者无愧”——钱钟书留下的几麻袋天书般的手稿与中外文笔记，多达7万余页，也被杨绛接手过来，陆续整理得井井有条：2003年出版 了3卷《容安馆札记》，178册外文笔记，20卷的《钱钟书手稿集·中文笔记》也将于今年面世??这位百岁老人的意志和精力，让所有人惊叹!

【译文】孔子说：“（教导弟子时）不到他想求明白而不得的时候，不要急于去开导他；不到他想说出来却又说不出的时候，不要急于去启发他。如果教给他东方，他却不能由此推知西、南、北三方，便不必再教下去了。”

35、子曰：“饭疏食饮水，曲肱而枕之，乐亦在其中矣。不义而富且贵，于我如浮云。”（《论语·述而》）

【译文】孔子说：“（我整天）吃粗粮，喝冷水，弯着胳膊做枕头，也自得其乐。用不正当的手段得来的富贵，我把它看作天上的浮云（不去要，不理采）。”

渊明公，与你相识，是从那一篇《桃花源记》开始。那“黄发垂髫，并怡然自乐”的淳朴生活令我无法忘怀。品君文章，乃余之畅快！

余读《五柳先生传》，为你嗜酒、好读之趣事而捧腹大笑，为你“短褐穿结，箪瓢屡空”而深感同情。余甚爱汝“不戚戚于贫贱，不汲汲于富贵”之品格，尤爱汝“衔觞赋诗，以乐其志”之随性！世间洒脱豪放者莫过于你！世间安贫乐道者莫过于你！

余于书页间，仿佛见汝“采菊东篱下，悠然见南山。”余陶醉于公之言行举止，更陶醉于公之言论诗文！汝闲静少言，不慕荣利，乃真隐者，大隐者，后世之典范也。想汝当年居于那“桃源仙境”，过着采菊耕种、自食其力、著文自娱的生活，令余羡慕不己。

时隔千年，余若有回天缩地之良方，定当沐浴焚香拜见先生。邀汝至闽南大酒店畅饮，俯瞰高楼大厦，鳞次栉比；交通桥梁，盘虬卧龙；车水马龙，熙熙攘攘……同汝共享中华盛世之繁华景象。较之古代有大不同、大变化、大进步也，想汝亦有同感！

我辈当今结庐在人境，处处车马喧，何从觅一隐士如公者？时光飞转，唯一不变者乃官权金钱者也！宝马香车、琼林玉殿虽已难觅，但人心贪婪之欲，人心污晦之情仍留于世间。何从于城阙间寻一“桃花源”？何从于尘世间寻一“陶渊明”？汝可见“房叔”“房姐”们倚仗高官厚禄、花天酒地，虽不杀人放火，却挥霍钱财！汝可见环境污染使贫民穷者痛哭流涕，纵有良田而颗粒无收！汝可见世界各地暴徒寇盗四处猖獗，枪声不绝，人心惶惶！世界文明虽已进步，中华大国虽已强盛，但乱我心者处处皆在，毁我环境者日日可见。悲哉痛哉，何处觅桃源、何处采野菊？予不如与公归去来兮也。

若人人皆似您“不为五斗米折腰”，若人人皆似您安贫乐道；若人人皆似您“闲静少言，不慕荣利”，世界即变为桃源。念天地之悠悠，独怆然而涕下。渊明公，您虽已逝，可遗风仍在，您之爱菊，世人皆爱牡丹，但菊之隐逸，非牡丹能比。您之精魂化作菊香，吹遍了万代，醉遍了千古！试想，若世界变为桃源，将多么安逸舒适啊；若人人有汝之气节，将多么和谐美好啊！

我坚信，你之所以隐逸，不是因为害怕尘世的困扰、社会的黑暗，而是宁愿做牡丹花丛中一朵孤傲的菊花！你宁愿生长于穷乡僻野，也不愿意生长在朱门酒肉中。您的淡淡清香飘遍山野，却无人知晓。但您的精神传遍古今，在我们的心中永恒。有人说您胆怯，不肯做屈原一般的人物。但我认为，您是真正的巨人，您在田园的隐居中创作诗篇，自得其乐，流传千古，教会了我如何做一朵清淡至傲的野菊，顽强固执地坚守仅属自己的净土，教会了我如何淡看荣利、淡看人生。

无论如何，身为小辈，我都没有资格去评说您。但请允许我直呼您的名字——陶渊明。是你固执地给历史添上一抹菊香，是你在平淡中带我找到了生活的真谛。此中有真意，欲辨已忘言！
