淝水一战的胜利，谢安虽然为东晋获得了暂时的喘息时机，但是，从此东晋王朝更加急剧地衰落下去，内乱不止，动荡不安。公元年，桓温的儿子桓玄占领了长江上游，发兵攻入建康，废掉晋安帝，自立为帝。三四个月后，北府兵将领刘裕击败桓玄，迎晋安帝复位。从此，东晋王朝只剩下一个空壳了。

就在这个时期，却出现了一个中国古代的大诗人——陶渊明。

陶渊明，一名陶潜，浔阳柴桑(今江西九江西南)人。他出生在一个没落的官僚家庭中。他的曾祖父就是东晋著名的大将军陶侃；但到了他的少年时代，陶家已经败落，生活贫困。

尽管如此，陶渊明从小还是受到了很好的家庭教育，他博览群书，养成了寡言少语、厌恶虚荣、不贪富贵的高洁性格。这种个性影响了他的仕途生涯，一生中，只在十三年当中断断续续地做了几次小官。

直到二十九岁时，陶渊明才谋得江州祭酒一职，却因忍受不了官场的繁文缛节，早早辞了职。在家闲居了五六年后，三十五岁时，到了荆州，在刺史桓玄属下当一名小吏，不到一年功夫，又因母亲去世辞职归家，一住又是五六年。

陶渊明终究是名将的后代，官场里知道他的人很多。公元405年，当他四十一岁时，又被推荐到彭泽(今江西九江东北)当了县令。

好不容易在彭泽当了几十天县令，一天，陶渊明得到一个消息：东晋的权臣刘裕已封自己为车骑将军，总督各州军事；这个野心家只差一步就要夺取皇位了。

陶渊明预感到晋朝已经是名存实亡了，他十分灰心，便离开衙门回家去了。

妻子翟氏见陶渊明一副闷闷不乐的样子，不好多问。翟氏端上酒菜，可陶渊明却不动筷，仍然坐在那里叹气。过了一会，陶渊明冷不丁地说：“我想辞职回家乡!”

翟氏一听就知道他又在官场上受气了，因为像这种辞职回家的话，陶渊明不知讲过多少次了。几个月前，陶渊明曾想辞职，还是翟氏提醒他，上百亩官田就要种上稻子了，待收成以后再辞职吧。当时陶渊明总算听了妻子的话，口气缓了下来。这次翟氏仍然用官田收稻之事来劝他，陶渊明听了以后，长长叹了一口气：“唉，真没办法，难道我还是要做粮食的奴隶!”在翟氏体贴的慰劝下，陶渊明这才举起了酒杯。

时局的因素，加上陶渊明一副傲骨，他的辞官念头始终没有打消过。一天，衙役来报：过几天郡里派的督邮要到彭泽来视察。那个督邮陶渊明认识，是个专门依仗权势、阿谀逢迎，却又无知无识的花花公子。陶渊明想到自己将要整冠束带、强作笑脸去迎候这种小人，实在忍受不了。他的倔脾气又发作了：“我怎么能为了这五斗米官俸，去向那种卑鄙小人折腰呢?”

于是，陶渊明离开衙门，板着脸回到了家，冲着翟氏：“收拾行装，回乡!”

翟氏告诉他，稻谷只差几天就要收割了。

“随它去吧!”这回陶渊明已经铁了心要辞职了。翟氏问清原由后，也就不再劝说了，默默地去收拾行装。

第二天，陶渊明乘船离开了彭泽。他出任彭泽令，在任仅八十余日，十三年的仕途生涯终于结束。

从此，陶渊明在家乡过着隐居生活。对于官场，他丝毫没有眷恋之心，辞官后，反而有一种重获自由的怡然自得。他每天饮酒，写诗。他归田后的二十多年，是创作最丰富的时期，主要作品有：《归去来辞》、《归田园居五首》、《桃花源记》、《饮酒二十首》、《挽歌诗三首》等等。

其中，《桃花源记》更体现了陶渊明的思想境界和艺术高度。诗文中通过虚构的手法，把桃花源描绘成一个鲜花盛开，绿树成行，男女老幼，辛勤耕织，祥和无忧的安定社会。陶渊明以此寄托他的美好向往，以及对当时混乱时世、黑暗政治现实的不满。

陶渊明的诗文辞赋，在中国文学史上占据了一个重要的地位。

郭明义参军之前，只是初中学历。在部队时，他抓住“缝隙时间”学习英语。来到矿山工作后，他每天晚上都骑自行车往返20多公里，到市内的夜校学习。

虽然电动轮的进口备件质量检验不归郭明义负责，但每次对着备件做翻译时，他都认真检查，先后发现了5台电动轮有质量问题。公司与外方据理力争，最终获得10万美元的赔偿。
