1950年6月朝鲜战争爆发，10月中国决定抗美援朝。付雁作为一名机要干部，向东北军区报到，随后作为第一批赴朝鲜人员去朝鲜，在志愿军总部担任一名话务员。

这时候，他才16岁。

抗美援朝，志愿军官兵牺牲很大。但是，付雁因在志愿军总部，没有上前线，加上又是话务员，个人的安全基本上是有保障的。但是，他也经历了好几次的惊险时刻。

首先是在赴朝路上，他与22名机要干部乘坐汽车进入朝鲜。一次，汽车行驶在公路一个拐弯处时，突然前面一颗炸弹爆炸，冲击波很大，汽车颠簸了几下，除司机受了一点轻伤外，其他的人虚惊一场，毫发无伤。

为什么?

公路拐弯处前的一个山头，挡住了飞舞的弹片。

三天三夜后，他们抵达志愿军机关所在地——大榆洞，随后，再被安排乘坐汽车去前勤指挥部报到。一路上，飞机不停地轰炸。晚上，大家昏昏欲睡时，突然又一声巨响，一颗炸弹在不远处爆炸，驾驶员头部和胸部受重伤。

而其余的八人个个完好，其中也包括付雁。

以后，付雁又两次历险。

那是在第五次战役前夕，因为前方一直在激战，话务员每天只能睡二三个小时。经常是敌机在头上盘旋，他们照常工作。一天，大家正在吃晚饭，敌机突然出现，狂轰滥炸，付雁和大家立即往山沟转移。

结果，在途中，通讯员小韩不幸中弹牺牲，年仅18岁。

其他人安全无恙。

因为工作太忙，睡眠不足。付雁等话务员最大的愿望，就是能多睡上三四个小时。一次，他在烛光下带着棉帽工作，不知不觉睡着了。结果，烛火把棉帽右边的护耳烧着了，把他右边的头发和眉毛烤焦了一大块。

这是付雁在朝鲜唯一的一次受伤。

付雁是丹东人，自幼丧父，家中有四兄妹，他是老五，母亲最喜欢他。1953年朝鲜停战了。因为他离家较近，领导照顾他，给他批了10天假期回国探亲。

这一次请假回家，可以见到自己的母亲了，付雁很高兴，带上了立功喜报，还从战友那里借了一些钱，准备孝敬母亲。

可是，他回到家后，哥哥和姐姐们虽然很高兴，却表情异常，似乎都在躲避什么。付雁突然预感一种不祥之兆，便追问：“母亲呢?”

“母亲已经病故两年了。”大哥说。

接着，大哥告诉他：“你走后，她就一反常态，情绪始终不好。后来，听说你上前线去了朝鲜，整天坐卧不安，神魂恍惚，天天念叨你，见到当兵的就问：‘我家春子(付雁的小名)呢?’她还说要去沈阳看你。三个月后，1951年初，她发展到不吃不喝，最后经医院抢救无效于2月10日逝世。你在朝鲜打仗，我们也无法告诉你。”

这真是晴天一声大霹雳!付雁简直不相信自己的耳朵。

第二天，他在母亲的墓前整整坐了三个小时。

随后，假期还没结束，他就带着终生的愧疚返回了朝鲜。后来，付雁在部队中干了一辈子，也成为了一名解放军干部。

我渴望和平，渴望一没有流血与眼泪的世界，渴望一个安祥、温馨的世界！在我渴望的和平天堂里，有着高度发达的物质文明与精神文明，无论何种民族，何种肤色，人们都相亲相爱；国家与国家，城市与城市，人与人互相携手，和平就是友谊的桥梁。和平的世界，不再有核武器的魔影，不再有巨额的军费，不再有贫富的差距；有的是清清的小河水，绿绿的芳草地；小鸟在湛蓝的天空自由飞翔，骏马在辽阔的原野尽情狂奔；和平从绿色的地球延伸，向着未来，向着宇宙……噢，和平像看不完的画，是写不尽的诗！

我渴望有一天，全世界的小朋友都骤集在一起，每人手里捧着一只和平鸽，“哗”——亿万只白鸽一齐展翅高飞，向着美好的明天，向着和平飞翔，飞翔……
