I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong

University, P. R. China. With tremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I

am writing to apply for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.

Education background

In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology

(NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During

the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among

the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I

got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission

test.

At the period of my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5%

in the department. In the second semester, I became teacher assistant that is

given to talented and matured students only. This year, I won the Acer

Scholarship as the one and only candidate in my department, which is the

ultimate accolade for distinguished students endowed by my university.

Presently, I am preparing my graduation thesis and trying for the honor of

Excellent Graduation Thesis.

Research experience and academic activity

When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to

narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and

Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation scheduling system. It

is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled

a sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant. This

was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.

In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and

experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research

interests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research

(especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid

system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.

我小时侯是很内向的：见到生人会躲起来;上课不敢举手发言;看到老师会发怵。随着时间的推移加上我爸我妈对我潜在的教育以及当班干部的原因，我的性格开始慢慢发生变化。到了初中时，我已经完全变成了一个活泼开朗的小孩儿：我喜欢在众人面前展示自己的优点及特长，而且人越多我越高兴，人少了自己会失落;乐于结交新朋友，大多情况下都是我先打招呼，主动把自己介绍给他人;爱组织各项活动，喜欢张罗各类事宜并愿意为大家服务。当我爸我妈看到这些变化时是非常高兴的，但他们经常告戒我要掌握好度，不能太过。

小时候，我妈很会打扮我，我的衣服和头饰多的数不清，我记得每年春节、六一、国庆的时候，我妈都会带我到大栅栏里的妇女儿童商店添置新衣，年年如此不间断。平常上学的时候，我妈可以一周给我梳7种头型，也就是每天一种不重样，我的小伙伴总是特别羡慕我，我也因此充满了极强的幸福感和满足感。我承认虽然我不美，但是我很爱美，爱打扮爱漂亮，美丽绝对是我一生必修的功课。不过我爱美是有原则的：一定坚持适合自己的，乱七八糟的不要，选择有品质的，破破烂烂的不要。而且我很少化妆，浓妆艳抹不是我的风格，归根结底一句话，我始终觉得简单最美。

我是一个善良正直的人，我热爱生活，热爱一切美好的事物，我喜欢和朋友们在一起，不管是分享他们的快乐还是悲伤，我都乐于当一个倾听者，愿意提出自己中肯的想法或意见，我喜欢被别人信任的感觉。在朋友面前，我不介意做“小丑”或是“开心果”，被“揭老底”和逗大家开心在我看来没有什么差别，我看重的是彼此之间的情谊。心血来潮时我可以不假思索，不顾一切，但有时，我愿意独处，不想被任何人打扰，我想这可能是6月生的人共有的一个特征，再加上我是AB血型，这种双重性格的特点就越发明显了，所以很多熟悉我的朋友都会评价我“喜怒无常，情绪化严重。”

我不是一个勤快的姑娘，休息的时候，我是很懒散的，我可以看一整天电影或者听一整天音乐或是看一整天小说，我讨厌被束缚被管制，我喜欢自由自在，一切按照自己的意愿行事，这也正是我喜欢自助游的原因。我有时很坚强，有时却脆弱的不堪一击，有时甚至会为一点小事一把鼻涕一把泪。我不爱运动，喜欢吃鸡肉，我曾经想过当歌星，当相声演员，当翻译，当主持人，当画家，我爱幻想，并且总是希望梦想能成真。我喜欢奶茶、泡芙和布丁，我希望能开一家属于自己的甜品店。我喜欢猫，不喜欢小孩，蔡依林是我喜欢了将近十年的明星。我对一切新鲜的事物都充满了好奇心，我经常对自己说：“这个我一定得学会，那个我也必须要弄明白。”我喜欢和长辈接触，因为我觉得我知道他们喜欢什么，不喜欢什么，更重要的是，他们会让着我。我身上不具备勤俭节约的美德，我是一个绝对喜新厌旧的人，所以在无形中我浪费了很多东西，不过请放心，我对人绝对不是喜新厌旧的。

目前就想到了这么多，我眼中的`自己，大概就是这个样子了，能看到这里的，绝对是我的铁杆朋友了，所以我的这些习惯不管你能否受的了，都请忍着吧，来日方长，咱们互相体谅互相包涵。
