故事塑造了一个经典的硬汉形象。讲述了古巴的桑提亚哥老人在茫茫的大海钓了8天的鱼都一无所获，然而在故事的第8天，他在远海中钓到了一条巨大的马林鱼，老人虽然在与马林鱼的搏斗中手被割破，但他始终没有放弃，最后在周旋了三天后，将它制服。

然而，桑提亚哥的运气并不好，因为他在制服马林鱼后，一条灰鲸鲨就闻到了马林鱼的味道，便游到了桑提亚哥的渔船旁，准备吃掉马林鱼，于是，受伤的桑提亚哥便又拿起了鱼叉朝灰鲸鲨刺去，当灰鲸鲨被刺的一瞬间，已经咬下了一块鱼尾上的肉，灰鲸鲨被打败了，但由于马林鱼的尾巴上的肉被咬掉了，所以血就流得更加多了，这便让更多鲨鱼闻到马林鱼的气味，过来吃马林鱼。之后，真的又有两条鲨鱼来了，分别是窄头双髻鲨、铲鲨，但都被桑提亚哥制服了，可在回港的路上，桑提亚哥又碰见了一大群鲨鱼，这时的桑提亚哥已是筋疲力竭，但桑提亚哥还强行地撑着自己与鲨鱼搏斗，虽然他使出了全力，但最后大马林鱼还是被吃掉了，老人回港时大马林鱼只剩下一副骨架了。

由此我明白了人生的道路曲折、漫长、充满了挑战，但是只要我们坚持不懈努力过，不管结果是失败还是成功，都是值得人们尊敬的。

今天是农历xx年的第一天，也是我们中国的大年初一，凌晨一到噼啪、噼啪、噼啪的一阵新年鞭炮声，把我从睡梦中叫醒。

早晨起来，爸爸带我去楼下放鞭炮，火红的鞭炮像一条欢舞的火蛇在地上炸响，留下许许多多的各种颜色的鞭炮纸片在飞舞，就像天女散花留下的花瓣一样，真是：爆竹声声辞旧岁，春联户户迎新春。我看见左右邻居的福都是倒着贴的，我问爸爸：他们的福为什么倒着贴？原来人们过年为了图个吉利，利用倒和到是谐音，所以福倒了，就是福到了。我还看见了其它对联：爆竹一声除旧，桃符万户更新。春到碧桃树上，莺歌绿柳楼前。玉龙吐宝庆吉日，金凤含珠贺新年……。同时还让我想起一首古诗《元日》，作者是北宋诗人王安石：《爆竹声中一岁除，春风送暖入屠苏。千门万户瞳瞳日，总把新桃换旧符。》这首诗描写了宋代人过春节的场面和最典型的喜庆场景。

大人都说过春节最高兴的是我们这些小孩们，是啊！我们一帮小朋友们欢天喜地的在一起放鞭炮，玩游戏，把我们带入无穷的欢乐中。这个春节不但让我过得快乐，而且了解到许多有关过年的知识。
