In the previous chapters, Gertrude Morel is most devoted to her eldest son William. But after he dies of a skin disease, she plunges into grief. Seeing William is gone, she rededicates her life to Paul, and this revives her. She teaches her son art, education, and social advancement. She lives for her sons and will do anything to see them make their way in the world.

Mrs. Morel is terribly tired of her involvement in Paul and Miriams relationship and decides to stop intervening. She knows that Paul is an adult now and that there is nothing she can do to stop Paul from seeing Miriam. She feels that she can never forgive her son for sacrificing himself to love Miriam. As it mentions above, Paul has begun to realize how much his mother affects his life. Her deep love for him has made her a part of himself that when he wants to break free from his mother, he is unable to get away from her. His mother is ingrained into his very soul.

My New Life

This summer, I move to a new city with my parents, and I transfer to a new school. I used to live in the countryside, so my new life is so different from before. 《三国演义》中，我最佩服的人就是诸葛亮和曹操了。

诸葛亮，被人称为“智谋军师”，他不仅是三国时代着名的军事家，还是伟大的政治家。他的聪明众所周知，“孔明灯”就是他发明的。刘备三顾茅庐后，他出山任丞相，帮助刘备连孙权，战曹军，夺荆州，取四川，建立属汉政权，与魏、吴形成三足鼎立的局面。刘备死后，他又辅佐后刘禅，总领军国大权，屡次出兵伐魏，想要恢复中原。后因积劳成疾，诸葛亮死于军中，当年53岁。他的《出师表》传送于世。

此外，他还依法律己，严守军纪。话说当年蜀国与魏国在街亭作战，诸葛亮派马谡为先锋，没料到马谡违背诸葛亮的作战部署，致使蜀军大败。诸葛亮将马谡斩首以明军纪，并上书要求自降三级。

这就是我眼中的诸葛亮：聪明，忠诚，敢于承认错误，以身作则，大公无私。

那曹操又是一个怎样的人呢?

曹操，他不光是三国时伟大的政治家、军事家，还是一位文学家呢。他的着作《观沧海》和《龟虽寿》都早已家喻户晓。他一生一统天下为己任，南征北战，历尽艰辛，但他从不消极，总是积极进取……

这就是我眼中的诸葛亮和曹操，这些闪光点也正是我钦佩他们的原因。

小的时候，活泼好动的我常常静不下心来读书，觉得书太无聊了，还是游戏好玩。真不知道大人说的黄金屋和颜如玉到底在哪里。

直到有一次，我随手翻了翻了一本姐姐的《三国演义》，他的作者是罗贯中。刚看到了桃园三结义，就被这个故事吸引住了。刘备、关羽、张飞萍水相逢，三人都有为国效力之心，而且志趣相投，于是桃园结为异姓兄弟，投靠刘焉。

接着书中描写了从东汉末年到西晋初年之间近百年的历史风云，以描写战争为主，诉说了东汉末年的群雄割据混战和汉、魏、吴三国之间的政治和军事斗争，最终司马炎一统三国，建立晋朝的故事。反映了三国时代各类社会斗争与矛盾的转化，并概括了这一时代的历史巨变，塑造了一群叱咤风云的三国英雄人物。

书中塑造众多的人物，足智多谋的诸葛亮，义重如山的关羽，爽直粗犷的张飞……还有我最喜欢的浑身是胆的赵云。我印象最深的就是赤壁之战。刘备的军师诸葛亮和孙权的大将周瑜，商讨破敌良策，两人不谋而合，都主张只有火攻，才能打败曹操。周瑜叫庞统假作献计，骗曹军把战船连在一起。周瑜又打黄盖，让这老将用“苦肉计”去诈降曹操。实际上，黄盖在船中装满了容易燃烧的物品，以诈降的方式冲向曹营，发起火攻。半夜三更，忽听风响旗动，周瑜急忙走出军帐观看，真的刮起了东南大风，他连忙下令发起火攻。黄盖借着风势带船猛冲进曹军水寨放火。曹军的船阵很快地都烧了起来。一眨眼工夫，已经烧成一片火海……

前几天我和爸爸讨论张飞之死时，我俩互不认输。爸爸认为是张飞睡觉的时候，被敌军所杀。而我认为张飞临出兵前，因为平时他对手下经常鞭打，手下将领为了报复他，将其杀害。最后妈妈决定买一本原著《三国志》，让我在书海中找寻答案。盼望着新书的到来，我又可以品味这些精典故事了，期待ing。

在这个假期我阅读了一本名叫《傅雷家书》，书的主要内容是一个伟大的父亲对一位爱孩子的爱。

每个人都有一个伟大的`父亲，他或是知识渊博，或是大有作为，但不论他是什么样的一个身份，他们都是自己孩子心目中的超人，也正是有了他们，家才变得可靠。

在阅读傅雷家书时，能从字里行间中读出父亲平时说不出来的话，处处皆是浓浓的亲情。从文中的句子中可以看出父亲那种不同于母亲那深沉的爱：“我高兴的是我有多了一个朋友，儿子变成朋友，世界上有什么事可以和这种幸福相长的。”因为傅雷渴望自己的孩子十分的优秀，所以在他的孩子小的时候，傅雷是又打又骂，从而造成了一种父子之间的隔阂，而这句话也说出了许多父亲的心声。

在书里，那位父亲对儿子的学业和兴趣爱好了如指掌，看得出来其实傅雷是十分关心自己的儿子的，还是孩子人生道路上的向导。

从这些语句中我也有所收获“太阳太强烈，会把五谷晒焦;雨水太猛，也会淹死庄稼。”它告诉了我凡事要有一个度;“多思考人生问题、宇宙问题。把个人看得渺小一些。那么自然会减少患得患失之心。结果身心反而会舒坦，工作反而会顺利”它告诉了我怎么应对生活中的点点滴滴。

读完这本书后，我想到了自己的父亲，他平时对我无微不至，虽然我们的话不算很多，我却能深深地感受到他对我的爱，他的话语很少，一张嘴就是人生大道理，这难免会让我感到厌烦，可每当这时，他总是十分耐心的说一句“都是为了你好呀。”

父亲这深沉的爱怎么能用普普通通的文字来表达呢，有些事情不能用眼，而应该用心。希望等你闲下来时，认真看看这本书，再仔细想想自己的父亲。

《西游记》是我国四大古典名著之一，它是我最喜欢的一本书。

这本书主要讲了唐僧师徒四人坚持不懈，团结一致，经过九九八十一难，终于取得真经的故事。

在这本书中我最喜欢的人物是孙悟空，他嫉恶如仇，不畏艰险，持之以恒，书中有一个故事是《三借芭蕉扇》，讲得是唐僧师徒四人在路经火焰山时因天气炎热，得知芭蕉扇可以熄灭火焰山的火焰，于是孙悟空就去问铁扇公主去借芭蕉扇，铁扇公主却怎么也不借给他，但他并没有放弃，而是一次又一次地去借芭蕉扇，经过他的努力，他终于拿到了芭蕉扇。孙悟空坚持不懈，跟着唐僧经过九九八十一难，遇到种种困难，但他却从来没有抱怨过。在生活中总会遇到种种困难，而有人却不能像孙悟空一样坚持到底，我也和他一样，拥有着坚持不懈的精神。

记得那是一个夏天，爸爸带着我们去爬山。我站在山脚望着山顶，自信极了，飞奔向山顶。可没过多久，我的脚像被灌了铅似得迈不开步伐。3分钟过去了，我彻底没力气了，我准备放弃。就在这时，我的脑子里浮现出了孙悟空，我想：孙悟空与他师父遇到了那么多的灾难、困境都没有放弃，而我就因为这么一点点困难就要退缩。不，我要和孙悟空他们一样坚持不懈，勇往直前！凭着这个信念，我终于爬上了山顶。

《西游记》这本书告诉我们在遇到时，我们不能放弃，要用自己的力量去完成。在生活中，我们也要向他们一样坚持不懈，勇往直前，而不是轻言放弃，如果这样还有什么事做不成呢？

我从小爱看《三国演义》，在一、二年级的时候，就常捧着厚厚的《三国演义》啃，似懂非懂地沉入惊心动魄的大战之中。

诸葛亮是我在《三国演义》中最欣赏的一个人物，他的一生鞠躬尽，死而后已，他熟知天文地理，足智多谋，他火烧博望坡，借东风，草船借箭，巧摆八阵图，空城退敌、以木偶智退司马懿，锦囊杀魏延……一个个故事打动人心，。使人难以忘怀。就拿“草船借箭”来说吧，虽然他知道周瑜妒忌他，想用造十万支箭陷害他，可他顾全大局，豁达大度，不愿意在大敌当前时与周瑜闹翻，而是将计就计，立下军令状。他预测三天内必有大雾，了解鲁肃的忠厚，知道他不会泄露借船机密，更深知曹操多疑，料定他不敢轻易出兵。诸葛亮安排草船，精心伪装，利用大雾，“一字儿摆开”，是为了受箭的面积大、数量多；让军士“擂鼓呐喊”，是为了虚张声势，提示曹军射箭方向；下令把船“掉过来，船头朝东，船尾朝西”，既能增加受箭面积，使船身保持平衡，又能使回程顺风顺水，巧妙地利用草船“借”来十万多支箭，粉碎了周瑜的阴谋，使周瑜自叹不如……诸葛亮的神机妙算，怎能不让人佩服得五体投地呢？

今天就是英语外研比赛的日子了，我被安排在下午2.30那场，老妈的单位离考场比较近，上午我便跟她去单位值班。

我在老妈的办公室里，一直都在背稿，时间过得很快，稿纸在我的手中不停地抖动，说好的不紧张呢?

简单吃了点饭，老妈看我这副状态，她提议说，咱们提前溜达着去吧，就当散散步。

午后的街道有些冷清，看到不错的景致，老妈竟不忘给我拍张照片啥的，她可真有兴致。不觉中就来到了“宝睿国际未来小学”门口，我们是下午考生中来得最早的。

等了好久一些家长才陪着孩子到来，有接待老师把我们安排在家长等候区，并给选手们讲了些注意事项，接着老师又读了考场名单，我被安排在第三考场。

这是初赛，演讲的内容是自我介绍加才艺表演。我看到有的选手准备得真棒!不光自己化了淡妆，还梳了很复杂很漂亮的辫子，有的还穿了美丽的裙子。有不少同学手里拿了画板，上面是他们精心绘制的图画，他们边指着自己的画边小声念着英语，看来他们的才艺表演一定是用英语介绍自己的画了。而我的才艺显得多么的微不足道，我只打算读一首英文小诗。

上午考完的同学在群里发来信息，他们说很简单，评委主要看你的口语能力，觉得背不好的，也可以直接读，我终于有了一些安心。

马上就轮到我了，听到老师念我名字，稿子在我手中抖的更厉害了。原来考场里只有三位评委老师，但其中有一位外国人。我的心开始咚咚跳个不停，手心也开始冒汗。我刚说一句“Hello everyone.”，三位评委老师便微笑着向我点头示意。他们这一微笑，我反而不自在的很，我僵硬的站在他们面前，机械地象在用英文诵经一般，我甚至听到自己的声音就象一只大苍蝇在我周围嗡嗡着飞，它飞飞停停，停停飞飞，可恶极了。我发现三位评委老师都在低着头，记录着什么，也不知他们听清了这“嗡嗡”声没有。自我介绍环节很快就完了，我看没人看我，便拿出稿子，直接读那首“四季”的小诗。依然没人看我，平时读得一点问题都没有，此时竟卡了好几下，自己都觉得糟糕透顶。

三分钟终于结束了，我向三位评委鞠了躬说了“thank you”之后，心情才平静下来。

因为我是最后一场，所以，我来到家长区没多久，就有老师进来，当场宣布进入复赛的同学名单了。老师神采飞扬，声音洪亮，她说：“非常高兴地通知大家，祝贺以下进入复赛的同学，读到名字的同学也请家长一起上台!”

接着老师便念“张三，李四”，没有我的名字!

我沮丧极了，连为大家鼓掌的力气都没有了。

也许从我站到台上的那一刻就被评委老师“秒杀”掉了。老妈反倒安慰我说：“你在这里登过台，已经很棒了。但一定记住，台上一分钟，台下十年功啊。”

是的，通过参加这次比赛，我也找到了自己努力的方向。

路过一家烘焙店，我说：“老妈，给我买点吃的吧，我要化悲痛为力量!”
