Pressure seems to be a natural part in our daily life in this competitive

society. Like it or not there is always pressure of one kind or another. And it

seems there is hardly any way to avoid it or get rid of it. Moreover, as the

pace of modern life continues to quicken, pressure seems to be on the increase

Different people have different ideas about pressure. Some hold that

pressure is something very vicious. If there is too much of it, it will lead to

pressure gets out of control can it lead to poor performance and bad health.

Since it is impossible to avoid pressure, certainly there is no sense trying to

do so or complaining about it.

The air we breathe is so freely available that we take it for granted. Yet without it we could not survive more than a few minutes. For the most part, the same air is available to everyone, and everyone needs it. Some people use the air to sustain them while they sit around and feel sorry for themselves. Others breathe in the air and use the energy it provides to make a magnificent life for themselves.

Opportunity is the same way. It is everywhere. Opportunity is so freely available that we take it for granted. Yet opportunity alone is not enough to create success. Opportunity must be seized and acted upon in order to have value. So many people are so anxious to "get in" on a "ground floor opportunity", as if the opportunity will do all the work. 寒假，我参观了台北故宫博物院。

早就听说台北故宫博物院的藏品是精品中的精品，尤其是以毛公鼎、肉形石、翠玉白菜为镇馆三宝。我迫不及待想一饱眼福。

导游带着我们先去看稀世瑰宝毛公鼎。毛公鼎是西周晚期的青铜器，整个造型浑厚而凝重，饰纹简洁有力、古雅朴素，上面有铭文497字，只有“子子孙孙”两个字是重复的，在周朝时期先人就开创了用两点表示简写。迄今为止，毛公鼎是铭文最多的重器，自然便成了绝世珍宝。

看完这个无价的“大锅子”，我们随着导游来到肉形石前。初次看到它的人绝不会把它当成硬邦邦的石头，怎么看它都像是一块连皮带肉，肥瘦相间、肌理清晰的东坡肉。无论是色彩还是纹理，都可以乱真。人们似乎都能闻到红烧肉的香味.真正人间极品，价值连城。不过它可是玛瑙类矿物在大自然中经过漫长岁月的累积天然形成的奇石哦!

翠玉白菜是清代匠人巧妙地运用一半灰白、一半翠玉的灰玉雕成，绿色的部位雕成菜叶，白色的雕成菜帮，菜叶自然反卷，筋脉分明，似乎用指甲一掐就会出水，真是栩栩如生!上面攀爬着蝗虫和螽斯虫，似乎还能看到它们振翅欲飞。导游告诉我们，这翠玉白菜是瑾妃的嫁妆，蝗虫 和 螽 斯 繁殖能力很强，有子孙绵延的含义，白菜象征家世清白，真是件别有含义的嫁妆。

给我印象最深的还是微雕展，有核桃微雕，有象牙微雕，透过展品前的放大镜，可以看到人物的眼神表情，真是活灵活现!导游不无骄傲地说，我们的先辈们在没有任何科学仪器的帮助下能刻出如此惟妙惟肖的艺术品，他们是菩萨转世;有的一家三代为了雕一件艺术品，眼睛都雕瞎了。

台北故宫博物院馆藏68万余件稀世文物，是中国著名的历史与文化艺术史馆，也是世界四大博物馆之一。这次只是匆匆走马观花，参观了极少的一部分，却已让我们惊叹不已。

The earth’s temperature is rapidly changing. As a result there has been a

lot of climate change such as heat waves, droughts and floods. Scientists

believe that this is the result of human activity, which is polluting the

Earth’s atmosphere. This could become a disaster if governments do not act to

help prevent global warming. They can act in three ways; by supporting research,

by making laws and by keeping the general public informed.

Firstly, governments can support research. For example, they should

encourage companies to develop vehicles that cause less pollution. They should

also support alternative sources of electricity from wind and water rather than

from oil and coal. As well, they should sponsor conferences to discuss the

effects of greenhouse gas emissions and possible solutions to the problem.

Secondly, they should make laws that limit the amount of greenhouse gases

that companies can emit. Private companies should be rewarded for following

these laws. They should also be punished for creating pollution.

Finally, everybody is affected by global warming. Therefore, it is

important that governments involve individuals in the problem solving process.

For example they should encourage households to save as much energy as possible

by using more efficient light bulbs or less hot water. They should also

encourage the public to recycle, and this should be compulsory for everyone.

Another way of saving energy is by public transport systems. Governments should

spend money on public transport to make it as easy as possible for the public to

save energy.

In summary, it is clear that there are a lot of things that governments can

do to prevent global warming. They should involve companies, support scientists

and encourage individuals to protect the planet.

来到北京，发现有许许多多名胜古迹。首先，我们来到了故宫博物院。

乾清宫建于1402年，是明、清两代皇帝的寝宫。据说皇帝与皇后成亲的那天，是在乾清宫就寝的。在乾清宫的右边，摆着一张喜床。在喜床的周围贴满了“喜”字。说不定我们摸摸这个 “喜”字，可以沾一沾皇帝的福气呢!

【篇三：参观故宫】

今天，7月23日，我和妈妈来到了北京的故宫。故宫是古代皇宫，古称“紫禁城”。

故宫占地面积72万平方米，走进午门依次是三大殿，这是皇帝上朝、理事、会客的地方，后面的二殿二宫一园是皇帝日常生活的地方，而分布在东西两侧的便是皇太后、皇后、嫔妃与宫女们居住的宫殿了。

令我印象最深的宫殿还是太和殿。太和殿是故宫中最大的一个建筑。它是皇帝每天上朝朝政的地方，殿中游龙椅、屏风，并立有六根金柱，每个布置都有意义。看到这里，我感到好像看到朝中文武百官向皇帝朝拜的情景。

“九龙壁”也是令我难忘的一处景点。之所以为九条龙，是因为古代以一、三、五、七、九位吉祥数。这九条龙形态各异，颜色各不相同，相同的是它们眼光炯炯有神，让人一看顿生敬畏之心。

除此之外，我们还一座座小宫殿，还有让我惊奇的钟表馆、珍宝馆……故宫在我心中在每个中国人心中都是一座珍宝馆。

去年暑假，爸爸和我去参观闻名世界的北京故宫。

我们到达故宫的后门，买好票，请了一个导游，就进了雄伟的故宫后门。首先展现在我眼前的是一棵大槐树。导游说：当年崇桢皇帝就是吊死在这棵树上的。我们随着导游继续走，到了坤宁宫，坤宁宫是皇妃住的地方，这里风景优美，有许多枝繁叶茂的树木。这些房子大约有三米高，皇后就住在靠南方向的屋子里。对面是嫔妃住的西六宫，那里的屋子很暗，也很小。穿过书斋，就到了乾清宫，这是皇上上早朝的地方，乾清宫的正前方摆着一张镀金做的精美的龙椅。龙椅上刻有许多龙，有的龙双龙戏珠，有的龙互相缠绕，真是维妙维肖。我抬头往上一看，墙上有一块大大的匾，匾上写着正大光明四个大字，每当上朝时，正大光明这块匾就面对着各位大臣，仿佛告诫这些大臣们：凡是做事，都要正大光明的做。我站在乾清宫中间，仿佛看到了当时的皇上和众位大臣商议朝政时的气势。随后，导游还带我们参观了中和殿、保和殿等地方，最后，就到达了故宫的正门。

假期里，妈妈带我去北京走了一遭。众所周知，北京在中国近代史上占据着很重要的位置，而其中最能反映中国近代的兴与衰的，还非故宫莫属。

故宫是个“宫”，就是皇帝老儿们办公和住的地方，正因如此，这里处处都显示着金碧辉煌。那金色的琉璃瓦，在阳光下闪着金光，好似龙的鳞片，很是吸引人。与金瓦对应的是一面面红墙，既不十分鲜艳夺目，也不黯淡无光，而是恰到好处地红着，可见工匠们的巧夺天工了。

接着，我们继续往前走。地上一块块砖码得整整齐齐。正在我们赞叹工匠们的心细时，导游让我们停下脚步，向上看。我往上一看，只见两个翘檐一前一后重叠在一起，后面的正好伸向前面角的最里端。这有什么稀奇?江南园林里到处都是。可它就是稀奇，因为它是“勾心斗角”。想想看，在勾心斗角十分严重的宫里，又有一处“勾心斗角”的景致，这难道不是一种巧合?

导游又发话了：前面是一个小殿，大家可以看一看。故宫实在太大了，我也走累了，赶紧停下来朝里张望。可里面的情景却令人失望：屋里光线很暗，隐约可看到桌椅板凳，屏风支架，笔墨纸砚等，已经非常陈旧，光线透不进去，屋子里黑糊糊的。

唉，声名显赫的故宫，外表这么华丽，住的地方却这么黑暗，当时的满清统治者他们的心理不也是和这屋里的光线一样黑吗?

故宫是我很想去的地方，哪里有很多珍贵的文物和丰富多彩的艺术建筑。是人们向往的地方。

在暑假的时候，我和妈妈、姑姑去了故宫，故宫可以从天安门进，也可以从神武门进。我们是从天安门进的。由天安门进入，穿过一片青砖铺地的广场，便到达紫禁城的正门——午门。穿过午门，又是一个大广场，广场上有一金水桥。过桥经太和门便是雄伟的太和殿。经太和殿、中和殿、保和殿，穿过乾清门，便进入内廷，内廷分中路、东路和西路三条路线。如果是半日游，这三条路线只能游一条，一般可走中路。走中路可看乾清宫、交泰殿、坤宁宫、嫔妃所住的地方和御花园。一般来说，用半天时间游故宫，比较吃力。所以我们用了一天的时间才游完。天晚了，我依依不舍的跟着妈妈向门口走去，临走时我还在大门口照了好多的照片呢!

不知为什么，时间过的那么快，车子就驶到了故宫博物观门口。我带着紧张而又兴奋的心情步入了大门。

故宫内的大殿大都是红墙黄瓦，里面的装潢典雅端庄，充满了皇室风格。据说故宫里有9000多间房，而且全都是由木条一块一块拼成的，没有一个钉子，难以想象这样一座雄伟的宫殿只用了14年就完工。

故宫内最吸引人的要算“三大殿”，保和殿，太和殿，中和殿。我们先来到保和殿，我挤进人群，透过玻璃我看到那些皇帝的日用品早已没有往日的辉煌，那些陈旧的一切都仿佛在述说一个个真实古老的故事。向前走，一个很不起眼的小宫殿，没错，那就是“中和殿”，皇帝上朝时更衣的地方。接着又来到了“太和殿”，这里便是皇帝上朝的地方，它建在高八米的汉白玉台基上，屋顶上雕刻着12只珍禽异兽，大殿内一把象征了至高无上的龙椅，端端正正的摆在中间，形象的表现了皇帝天下独尊的磅礴气势。

今天，我们学校组织去故宫玩。

我们走进大门，“哇，这里可真大啊!”我们首先参观了故宫的建筑结构。观察了一下，故宫的所有宫殿，发现这些宫殿都是沿着南北中轴线排列，并向两旁展开，南北取直，左右对称。这条中轴线不仅贯穿在紫禁城内，而且南达永定门，北到鼓楼几乎贯穿了整个市区，它的气势宏伟，规划严整，极为壮观。

我们从太和殿一直浏览到御花园，真是叹为观止!在宫里，最引人注目的要算是“三大殿”了：太和殿，中和殿，保和殿。它们都建在汉白玉砌成的8米高的台基上，远远望去，犹如神话中的琼楼玉宇。第一座太和殿是皇帝举行大典的地方，人们称它为“金銮殿”。中和殿是皇帝去太和殿举行大典时休息的地方;保和殿是每年除夕皇帝赐宴的场所。这仅仅是故宫的建筑，而故宫中的宝物数不胜数……

故宫一游使我流连忘返，故宫的建筑真是个奇迹!

We realize that if too many fish are taken from the sea， there will soon be

none left。 Yet，with modern fishing methods， more and more fish are caught。We

know that if too many trees are cut down， forests will disappear。 Yet， we

continue to use powerful machines to cut down more and more trees。 We see that

if rivers are polluted with waste products， we will die。 Yet， waste products

are

still put into rivers。

We know that if the population continues to rise at the present rate， in a

few years， there wont be enough food。What can we do to solve these

problems?

If we eat more vegetables and less meat， there will be more food available。

Land for crops feeds five times more people than land where animals are

kept。

Our natural resources will last longer if we learn to recycie them。

The world population will not rise so quickly if people use modern methods

of birth control。

Finally， if we educate people to think about the problems we shall have a

better and cleaner planet in the future。

Eating patterns change over time. Ingredients cannot be seen before in a

country might begin to appear in local markets ， shipped from abroad. Migration

causes cultures to change， and eating patterns invariably reflect new

influences.

In the 20th century， few people have the time to go home for lunch， and

many city dwellers find themselves in need of grabbing a bite to eat in a place

close to their offices. As a result， the popularity of fast food and takeaway

food has risen . In many urban areas， people who traditionally ate their main

meal at midday now enjoy it in the evening， after work.

Changing eating patterns have an effect on other aspects of society. Meals

have traditionally been times when members of a family catch up with each other.

Fast food and quick meals sometimes threaten such family get-together.

With the development of the e-commerce, more and more people intent to do

the shopping online. There are many advantages of online shopping, yet there are

some disadvantages too.

On the one hand, the online shopping are very convenient. Unlike the

physical stores, there is no limit of time for you to do the shopping online.

And you can find anything in the online store, some of which you may hardly buy

at the local. And also, the price is relatively transparent, you can choose the

affordable one to buy.

On the other hand, since the goods are only presented by the pictures and

descriptions, it is hard to tell its reality, so you might have bought something

you don’t like, or even the fake one. Of course you can ask for the after

service, but it will increase your cost of the time. And the advertisements on

the online shops may make you spend much more money on online shopping without

being conscious.

Anyway, the online shopping makes the shopping easier, but please do it

with rationality.

Halloween

Halloween is an autumn holiday that Americans celebrate every year. It means "holy evening," and it comes every October 31, the evening before All Saints Day. However, it is not really a church holiday, it is a holiday for children mainly.

Every autumn, when the vegetables are ready to eat, children pick large orange pumpkins. Then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put a burning candle inside. It looks as if there were a person looking out of the pumpkin! These lights are called jack-o-lanterns, which means "Jack of the lantern".

The children also put on strange masks and frightening costumes every Halloween. Some children paint their faces to look like monsters. Then they carry boxes or bags from house to house. Every time they come to a new house, they say,"Trick or treat! Money or eat!" The grown-ups put treat-money or candy in their bags.

Not only children, but most grown-ups also love Halloween and Halloween parties because on this day,they can disguise themselves as personages or ghost as their imaginations will lead them. This bring them the satisfaction of being young.

万圣节前夕

万圣节前夕是美国人年年都会庆祝的秋季节日。它的意思是“神圣的夜晚”，在每年的10月31日，也就是万圣节前夜。但实际上这不是一个真正的宗教节日，而主要是孩子们的节日。

每年秋天蔬菜成熟可以食用的时候，孩子们就会挑出大个儿的橙色南瓜。然后在南瓜上刻上一张脸，把一根点燃的蜡烛放在里面。看起来就好像有人在向南瓜外面张望。这些灯就叫做“iack-o-lantems”，意思也就是“杰克的灯”。

每年万圣节前夕孩子们还戴上奇怪的面具，穿上吓人的服装。有些孩子把脸刷成怪物。然后他们拿着盒子或袋子挨家挨户串门。每来到一个新房子他们就说：“不款待就捣乱!给钱还是吃的!”大人们就会把用来招待的钱或糖放在他们的袋子里了。

不仅孩子，许多成年人也喜欢万圣节前夕和万圣节前夕晚会。因为这一天他们可以根据自己的想象把自己装扮成名流或幽灵。这会带给他们年轻的快感。

Shen Fang is a primary school teacher. She teaches Chinese in a fourth

grade class. She helps the boys and girls read and write. Her classes are

interesting, and the children all love her.

今天，妈妈带我去参观故宫博物馆。

故宫在古代称作紫禁城，据说房子的屋顶脊兽越多说明等级越高也越尊贵。故宫里太和殿屋顶的脊兽最多有10个。太和殿因地势较高，被烧过24次，因为古代没有避雷针，打雷时引起大火，所以故宫没座房子前有一个金属制的大缸又称吉祥缸，每年冬天吉祥缸里的水会结冰，宫里的太监就把柴火放到缸下烧，把冰融化。

故宫保和殿后有一块200多吨的汉白玉，名字叫“云龙阶石”，在古代没有现代的机械是怎么运到故宫的呢？古人用了10000多名民工和6000多位士兵，还有1000头驴子。古代人很聪明，他们在路上1里打一口井，在冰上拉着汉白玉，就这样过了28天，才拉到京城。

紫禁城里的重要宫殿都铺着金砖，传说一块金砖值一两金子。

经过这一次参观，我觉得古人们好聪明啊！
