There was once a little boy, who was my grandpa; lived in a little cottage

near the king’s palace. He was a jolly fellow in his life.

One day, he went down to the brook to pick some flowers. Close to the brook

was a little log, on it was a tinker. Beside him was a tool box, and in it were

some tools. “He must be the one that fixed the pluming machine in my backyard!”

my grandpa gasped as he said that. The tinker was having his lunch: One or two

pieces of bread, a bit of cold meat, and a cold potato. It looked such poor

lunch; that grandpa ran into the house, and grabbed two fresh apples, and gave

it to the tinker. The tinker thanked grandpa and ate the apples. And then he

went down to the brook to have a drink. When he came back, he said, “Now my boy,

we shall plant a tree!” “A tree?” asked grandpa, “But I thought only god makes

trees!’’ “True,” said the tinker, “Only god makes trees. But sometimes we could

help him. And the tinker pulled out a stick, and dug a hole in it. In which he

found a bark. He took the bark out of the stick, and gave the stick to grandpa,

saying, “Here my boy; wash it in the brook.” And so grandpa went to the brook,

and washed up the stick. And then he went back where the tinker was standing

with the bark in his hands.

There he found the tinker, dragging some grass from the ground. And then he

took the stick in grandpa’s hand, and used the grass to tie up around with the

bark. Then he slipped the bark back in the stick. And then he took it out,

squeezed the water out, and told grandpa to wash it up again. When he came back,

he put the bark back in it again. And then fitted it into a hole, which he had

dug; and used the end that didn’t have a hole, and fitted it in the ground; a

few months passed, and the tree grew as strong as the strongest man.

THE ONLY MAGICAL THING----Map There was only one thing in the world that

wanted to play, and that guy’s name was Jack. He wanted to be a pirate one day,

and found treasure in pirate islands… He had a conversation with his mother one

“Mom, I want to be a pirate one day, and find treasures in buried islands

and…” “Whoa! Hold there son, what do you mean by, you what to be a pirate?”

asked his mother, “Well it is that I just want to hunt for treasure instead of

just being a regular boy like usual…”

His mother laughed so very hard, “Then why don’t you ask the sorcerer of

the wicked castle?” his mother suddenly added, “What do you mean of: Wicked?”

“Well,” replied her mother, “It all happened in…” “Wait!” shouted Jack, “There

is no time for you to explain the whole thing, if you could show me this ‘Wicked

castle’ then I could be a pirate sooner or later.

And so his mother showed him a riddle clue, which had many words written on

it, “All you have to do is answer the riddles and you will arrive at your

destination;” so Jack took the map, and head out for the wicked castle

immediately, “Now let us see, two choices to make; which one is it that I need

to take?” then he suddenly felt a little twinkle among his eyes, he looked at

the map; “That’s it!” he opened the map and placed it upon him. “Now, I just

need to figure this one out.”

He read it out loud, “Choose the path that has round hard things the most…”

then he thought about it, he looked at each side; first, he checked the left;

“There is nothing very hard on this side, or even round!” the he checked the

other side, known as the right; “Look, there is a pile of rocks here, they are

very hard; and round, and there are plenty of them!”

He walked to the right, and then he went straight on. At last he came to a

big castle, it has many traps; and so Jack decided to use the map and find clues

so that he won’t get lost…

He first came to the front door, and then he opened the map, read the

riddle; “Watch out for the monster, with two pairs of wings; and come in the

spring, it is giant, I warn you…” then he answered, “The only flying thing that

has two pairs of wings is a dragon fly!” when he said “Dragonfly”

d-r-a-g-o-n-f-l-y; a giant dragonfly flew past his eyes!

“Whoa!” shouted Jack, he then read the riddle, “look around you; use the

one, as sharp as a knife;” Jack looked around himself, then he found a big sharp

needle; it was huge! He used all his might and picked it up, and then he sprang

it to the monster. The monster fell down immediately, as if dead.

Then Jack had beaten the giant ‘Dragonfly’d-r-a-g-o-n-f-l-y, he was ready

to see the sorcerer. He was casting a spell when Jack came in, he interrupted

him; and so the sorcerer shouted, “What are you doing stranger?” he asked, “Can

you make me a pirate?” “What! Nobody has ever done that spell before;

never!”

And so Jack had to keep on being a normal boy, he was satisfied sometimes,

but also was glad that he didn’t turn into a pirate. “The map is ‘the only

magical thing’ in this world…

Dear Petty,

I hope you didn’t make any plane for this weekend. You know I am moving

into the new house, and I sincerely invite you to come to my new house. I will

hold a celebration party on Saturday night. The scenery here is fantastic that I

am sure you will like it. On Saturday, you can walk around my house after you

get here. The party will begin at 7:00. You can live in my house that night. On

Sunday, we can go fishing or play table tennis. So please do some preparation

for them. You can drive here and you will see a board “Kelly’s Home” near the

你对我的帮助有很多，数也数不清。你还记得那一次吗？那一次在体育课上，老师让我们跑操场，我跑到一半的时候，不小心被一个小石子绊倒了，重重地摔倒在地上，我想站起来重新跑，但伤口实在是太疼了。虽然陆陆续续的有人从我身边经过，但他们都没有来帮我。而你看到了我痛苦的表情后，像一支离弦的箭一样飞快地向我冲去，用关切的目光向我问道：“你没事吧？”我忍着疼痛说道：“没事，只是摔伤了而已。”而你还是不放心，说：“我看你这伤口，要是不消毒的话是会感染的。我来扶你去医务室吧。”我点点头答应了。你扶着一瘸一拐的我，一步一步地迈向了医务室。那时，我的感激之情涌上心头，喉咙似是有什么东西堵住了，想对你说一句感谢的话却说不出口。

还有一次，你帮了我大忙。那一天，轮到我们组扫地，但我的组员却把所有的活都让我干，而他们自顾自的回家了。我扫到一半的时候，看见你因为忘拿课本回来了。你看到只有我一个人在打扫教室，问道：“就你一个人扫地，没有别人？”我点点头，说道：“对，就我一个人，他们都回家了。”你看到我一个人忙不过来，就对我说：“那我来帮你吧！”在我们共同的努力下，教室终于干净了。

虽然我们素不相识，但是在提笔之前，我可是千上心头啊！每当老师为我们读起一篇篇山区的文章：每当看见你们的“踪迹”，我都不由感叹！相比之下，我们坐在明亮宽敞的教室里读书，而你们除了在破烂窄小的草房里上课，课余只有三分之一的时间来学习，三分之二的时间做家务，干农……你们就像时钟一样，没有停过。就像牛一样，勤勤恳恳。总得到了晚上才做作业，天黑了，靠着一根蜡烛，认认真真熬过了一晚。早上又要早起床，凌晨四、五点又开始机器人似的工作，上山砍柴，做早饭，然后，读一下书，还要走几十里路去上学。还有，你们身穿破烂不堪的衣服，唉！说到这里，我真自愧不如，你们没有兴趣小组，电脑，除了课本之外没有一样是新的；在家里，没有电视，电灯甚至连温饱也成问题。我们这些城里的孩子不愁吃穿；饭来张口，衣来伸手；娇生惯养等等的坏习惯早以数不清了。虽然在不同环境下学习，可你们的成绩却一样优秀。我真佩服你们呀！所以我也下定决心，要学习你们那种爱读书、任劳任怨的精神。这也让我明白了一个道理：学习的时间是挤出来的。

I used to pouring away the water directly after I using it. Someday, my

mother asked me to help her wash the clothes, as I was about to pour away the

water, my mother stopped me and she told me that most water can be recycled. It

can be used to water the flower or to wash other things. From then on, I realize

how to save water.

曾记得那渴求知识、企盼幸福生活的双眸，那一张张可爱、稚气的笑脸，在我的脑海里时刻萦绕着，时刻牵动着我的心。好想念你们啊，亲爱的朋友们!

你们还好吗?我叫__X，今年__岁，是__镇____小学X年级的一名学生。在班级里，我聪明、可爱，事事不甘落后，每次考试都名列前茅。当然啦，也有管不住自己的时候，甚至还会闹出笑话来呢!人送外号“调皮鬼”。相信到这里，你们对我有个大概的了解了吧!

听妈妈说，你们那里的山路崎岖难行，特别是雨后，更是泥泞，一不小心就会摔跤。但是，困难没有吓倒你们，你们仍然顽强地向学校蹒跚前行，从不掉队。你们的校舍低矮、简陋，有的甚至是残破不堪;你们的桌椅高低不平，有的甚至是“缺胳膊少腿”;还有那教室前树枝上终年发出哀怨的铜铃……也曾记得那一支支短小的铅笔、一块块已经拿不住的橡皮和一本本已经没有一丝缝隙的计算本…...相比之下，让我感觉到我是如此的幸福。同时，也让我觉得缺少了点什么。缺什么呢?我想，应该是一种精神，一种锲而不舍、渴求上进的精神。这种精神是我所要积极学习的。我会珍惜眼前的所有，更加努力地学习!

朋友们，我会在远方时刻关心着你们，我会尽我所能帮助你们。让我们手牵手，做真诚的朋友吧!

贫困山区的小朋友：你们好！

贫困山区的小朋友们，我是广东省廉江市第五小学五（1）班的学生，名叫温展鹏。今天，我在电视上看到了你们瘦弱的身影，无助的眼神，我心里很不是滋味。你们家境困难，常常吃不饱，穿不暖，可你们非常想上学，渴望学到知识。用茅草做的房顶，四面的墙壁是用泥土堆积而成的一间间破旧的房子——这就是你们的教室。我想如果外面下大雨，教室里肯定会下小雨；如果外面下大雪，教室里也会下小雪吧！一张张用泥土垒起来的课桌，和同学们从家里带来的大小不一的破板凳，没有电灯、没有书本、甚至没有粉笔但是，在这样的环境里，你们却表现得那么的积极，对知识抱有渴求的愿望。而我们却有高大漂亮的教学楼，有宽敞明亮的教室，整齐的桌椅，漂亮的课本，崭新的笔，多功能的笔盒。但是我却生在福中不知福，不懂得抓紧时间学习，我太贪玩了，以后我要以你们为榜样，珍惜时间，努力学习。

为了帮助你们，我和我的全班同学开展了手拉手活动。这个活动首先是写一封信给你们，告诉你们，社会上还有很多人在关心你们，你们要将你们的学习热情继续发扬下去。然后就是尽我们所能：有钱捐钱、有物捐物，我们送给你们的虽然是一个书、一支笔、一本书、还有一些衣服，这些东西微不足道，但希望这些东西能对你们的学习、生活有帮助，并希望你们喜欢这小小的礼物。另外我们还要把你们的故事宣传开来，让人们知道在遥远的边疆地区还有如此贫困的山区，还有一群渴望学习的孩子们。这样就会有更多的爱心人士来关心和帮助你们了。我相信，你们的朴实，勤奋，真诚一定会让自己的一生富有起来的，以为我们都在关心你们，祝福你们。暑假有空记得来廉江做客，我们如果有时间也一定会去你们那里体验生活。我们都是祖国的花朵，让我们从今天起珍惜时间，努力学习，长大后为建设边疆尽自己的一份力量！把祖国建设得更加美好！

Dear Dad,

Today is father’s day, for so many years I’ve been seekig a way to express

my heartfelt thanks for all you have done for me. Here comes it!Thank you for

always being there sharing my life when I need you most. Whenever I encounter

difficulties, I never feel alone and vulnerable, because you will keep me on the

right path. I’m blessed to have you.Thank you for offering me education and

teaching me how to be a man. You always inspire me not by words, but by what you

have done! Your efforts in the work, your loyalty to your friends, your

responsibility for the family and your persistence in the life have already set

me good examples in my own life.Thank you for always appreciating my work, no

matter how tiny it is! You have made me realize that it’s capacity not scores

that really counts.

Dad, I love you and I will love you forever!

There was once a man that thought he knew everything, and he kept showing

off to the people in his country. As time passed, many people began to feel,

that this smart man, could even beat the professor of the king. Now this king

was very proud, but the professor was not so at all. But the professor said,

“Don’t say it too soon;” and from those words, he began to decide which hard

question to ask the man.

At last he thought of a funny question, “He shall never find the answer!

Ha!” it all happened that the clever man whom I have told you; had a big stage.

All the people that have questions, should stand on this stage, and ask him what

the problem or question is.

One day the professor piled up in the line, and waited for his turn. When

it was his turn, he asked the smart man, “I don’t think you could answer this

question my lord,” said the professor smiling, “I could answer all of them

foolish professor!” shouted the man with an angry tongue, “Tell me what the

question is, and I shall prove to you that I can answer every question; if I

can, then I shall ask you a question; if you do not give me the correct answer,

then I shall kill you!” shouted the man.

“But what if you don’t?” asked the professor, “Then you shall stand on this

stage and I shall hire servants to serve you;” said the man with a laugh. The

professor then began his question, “What is the first tower in 1910, and 1911;

and 1912, and 1913…and 2016? And what is the height of them? If they all stack

up, then how tall would it be?” “Ugh, give me a sec would you mind?” and then he

began to calculate; but he couldn’t find the answer.” “What’s wrong?” asked the

professor with a smile, “Couldn’t find the answer, perhaps?” “No, I-I-I-I just

ne-ed… Ugh, fine; you win! Ugh!” and so the professor soon became king and ruled

his country wise and well. People asked him many other questions, and the

professor answered them all. The clever man that thought he knew everything,

however, was locked up in a cage for his cruelty to the king.

The moral of this story is, when you think you know everything; don’t think

so; for maybe a question will ruin your brain----Lulu read.
