1996年1月通过调查发现，到目前为止我省有野生动物476种。其中：爬行类3目四科16种两栖类2目6科11种、鸟类19目57科361种、兽类6目21科88种。分布在我省的东北虎、金钱豹、原麝等珍稀动物的分布区明显缩小、数量显著减少，而原在我省分布的镰翅鸡已确定在我省绝迹。可喜的是，这次野生动物资源调查又发现了中介蝮、黄腹山雀等21种生物在我省的新分布。其中：兽类1种、鸟类19种、爬行类1种。
