Cars and Air Pollution

Too many cars have created a lot of serious problems in our world. Besides congestion, accidents and fast fuel consumption, cars are responsible for a good part of air pollution in big cities. All the time, they are pumping huge amounts of waste gases into the atmosphere. These gases are very harmful, causing disease and even death.

One possible solution is to design and develop clean cars and clean fuels. In Shanghai, some of the public buses begin to run on natural gas, which does not give off as much carbon dioxide as the petrol. But it may take decades for the new models of clean cars completely replace the traditional ones. Another solution is to develop modern public transportation systems and restrict the use of private cars. If the price of petrol rises constantly and the public vehicles are efficient and convenient enough, most people will not buy private cars. And the total number of cars in big cities will reduce greatly.

On the whole, the elimination of air pollution needs the collective efforts from the government, the public and the environmentalists.

My favorite animal is the dolphin. They live in the ocean. And they are cute and beautiful. They not only swim fast, but are also smart. Their color is gray. They can swim and jump in the ocean. They look like fish, but they are mammals. Dolphins can be trained by people because they can learn things very quickly. They are very friendly, so I love them very much.

一粒纽扣大的电池扔在一片土地上，会污染一平方米的土地，让那片土地寸草不生，会变成一块不毛之地。一节 1 号电池如果放进一条小河里就会污染60万升水，这也许是一个人一生的饮水量。如果一个人喝了一小口这样的水就会生病，更严重的话可能窒息死亡。这是多么悲惨呀！同学们！我有一个好办法，那就是捡废旧电池的活动。

我们先约好几个好伙伴一起去拾一些废旧电池，谁找的废旧电池越多就有一枚劳动小章。开始行动！我们一人拿了一个大袋子去找，我先在附近找一找，不放过一点蛛丝马迹，这时我就在一个角落里找到了 6 节不同的废旧电池，这让我高兴万分，在这时环保局长闻讯赶来，看到我们像花猫一样的连都不约而同的笑了，夸我们是环保小卫士 ……

这次拾废旧电池给我们上了深深的一课。

People always say that we are lacking of the eyes of realizing the beauty in life. I can’t agree with it anymore. Last week, I woke up very early in the morning, so I decided to take a walk. The street was very quiet and there were many old people dancing in the square. Without many cars, I realized the city looked so clean and beautiful. Some coffee shops decorates so well, which attrated my eyes. The city was coverd by the green trees, which made it a green city. I liked this feeling so much. on new year‘s eve，our class had a party. the atmosphere was good. it was  out of the ordinary from the very begining. the boy student from one bedroom  gave an unusual performance. we saw a boy named li xinmin turn off all the  lights in a sudden snap. then with three resounding（响亮的） crow of a cock echoing  in the hall，the hall was again brightly lit in a snap.

Do you want to live in the city or the country?

I like to live in the country that the sun rises in the morning with the first golden light & the first sound from the cock.. All the animals & plants begin their life from this moment on and some of the animals begin their sleeping the new day. The people live in the country is kinder than the people live in the city . this is so sure that I just feel all this from my grandparents . My grandpatents both are country people. Their family is poor that they even do not have more money after they finish all their meals.but my mother was so so interested in studying. 您好！我是一位擂鼓岭梅园小区的小居民。

近来，因楼下的烧烤店、酒店随意污染环境、排放有害气体，搅的我们不得安宁。楼下一家中等规模的酒店，私自开设后门，还在我们进楼的平台占道洗菜、切菜。酒店还在走廊上搭了一个水池，肮脏不堪，遍地是油、落下来的一些辣椒什么的。

酒店的顾客大声喧闹，猜拳、笑叫声不绝于耳，不时地还扔下来一些垃圾、骨头。烟囱成了摆设，屡屡浓烟飘散在小区内。对面还有几家烧烤店，每当晚上，生意火爆，但我们擂鼓岭梅园的居民就遭殃了。

刺鼻的烧烤浓烟呛得人们咳嗽、流泪，过往的行人也纷纷捂着鼻子赶快避开。不仅如此，酒店的洗菜工也不讲卫生，乱扔垃圾，是我们的道路肮脏不堪。酒店还随意泼洒污水，灌木因经常被污水侵蚀，露出了枯黄。整个小区污水横流，垃圾遍地，满目苍夷。

这样的情况已经大大降低了小区居民们的生活质量，威胁到人们的身体健康。小区的居民们也曾经向您的局并请求处理，但石沉大海，毫无结果。再次，我想向您提出几点建议：

1、对酒店和烧烤店进行一些必要的惩罚措施，给他们点警告与教训；

2、将烟囱修复，每次排放浓烟先过滤一遍让他们懂得保护环境的重要性与紧迫性；

3、禁止酒店随意向小区泼洒污水，将污水处理后正确排放；

4、关闭酒店后门，在厨房里洗菜、切菜，不能占道洗菜，让酒店服务员在餐桌上放警示牌，提示顾客不要乱扔垃圾、大声喧哗；

5、设立酒店专用垃圾桶，将垃圾扔进桶里，不要随地乱扔。

此外，我还发现擂鼓岭许多小区也有类似的情况，无数的居民也在忍受着臭气熏天、肮脏不堪的折磨，生活苦不堪言。

希望环保局局长能在百忙之中抽空看看我的建议书，并根据我的建议对酒店、烧烤店进行妥善处理，换我们一个安静、干净、美丽的家园！

Last Saturday--April 28th, my classmates and I went to the park near my
