多亏希望工程的实施，一所乡村学校发生了巨大的变化。以前这学校叫做李家庄小学。由于家庭困难交不起学费，大部分学生辍学了。那座仅有的危房要用来做教室，所有的教师们共住一间。操场上除了空地什么也没有。现在情况可不同了乙辍学儿童都回校继续学习。一座双层的教学楼矗立在校园内，有音乐室、美术室，还有教学用的电脑室。学校的体育器材配备精良。

希望工程给李家庄小学带来了极大的好处，学校也因此改名为“希望小学”。
