一、英语写作的特点.

The characteristics of formal writing

1.名词化趋势

I do not eat much.-->I am a light eater.

The clock on the desk reminds me of time.-->I put a clock on the desk as a reminder of time.

We once cried, laughed and disappointed.-->There were moments of tears, moments of laughter, and moments of disappointment.

注意:名词化趋势的句子当然还有动词, 目的是尽量把表达句子中心意思的那个词汇用名词表达.符合英文的习惯.

2.无灵主语(区别于被动语态)

我们中文写作中,习惯以人做主语,而英文则相反,习惯以物做主格.

More and more young students studied further in the past two decades.

-->The past two decades witnessed a growing number of young students for further study.

Looking out of the window, you will have a nice view.

-->A glance out of the window offers you a nice view.

注意: 名词化趋势和无灵主语常常是相结合的.

3.被动语态

这一点大家比较熟悉,不详细讲.比如:

What can not be denied is that….

二、句式的写作:

Main features of English sentences:

1.长短句结合

Love is patient and kind. It is never jealous, boastful, proud or rude. It keeps no record of wrong that others do. It always protects, always fruits, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails.

一般来讲,总结性的句子应当使用短句,而说理的句子应用长句.

2.并列复合句

这种句子属于十分难写的句子,也举一个例子:

He who wants to save his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for me will save it.

3.单一复合句

也就是我们常说的各种从句,不再举例.

三、Variety of sentences:

1. ”-ing & -ed” groups

e.g.

(1)Standing by the riverside, the Master sighed,” May time go on and on like this, never ceasing day and night.”

(2)Reviewing what one has learned and gaining new insights, one is fit to be a teacher.

(3)Compared with the tradition, modernity is more dynamic.

2. ”to do” groups

e.g.

3. adverb

Simply, amazingly, absurdly, broadly, practically and so on

e.g.

Intelligently applied to daily life, modern technology will surely bring benefits to the well-being of the human race.

4.介词短语

In pursuit of, in spite of (注意平时自己的收集)

e.g.

In pursuit of excellence, ever pushing up the limit, life consists in the hope born of despair.

5.主语从句

e.g.

What China needs is not more morals, but more prisons for politicians.

句子的变化还有 It is self-evident(adj) that…….和There be 这样的句子

6.倒装

(1)将一些否定性含义的副词和短语在句首,用倒装会使句子生色不少.

Never before has such a high standard been achieved.

Hardly had he arrived when she started complaining.

(2)为使描绘更加生动,与介词同形的副词可以移动到句首,而把主语放到谓语后面去.

Following the roar, out rushed a tiger from the bushes.

In came a pretty girl he had never seen before.

四、插入语

插入语可以是一个小词,也可以是一个同谓语的形式.

1.先看一个小技巧：(对there be 句型均有效)

There is, recently, a debate amongst educators that……

通俗的讲,在老外眼里,主语与谓语离的越远,句子的档次越高.

2.插入语后面再接上一个定语从句;

Direct experience, a necessary means to recognize the world, which differs from knowledge acquired from books, is a major step to the cognitive world.

再看几个同谓语从句的例子:

1.Television, one of the most pervasive and persuasive technologies, marked by the rapid growth and drastic change, has a profound impact on people’s lives.

平时要多积累这样的句型,使之变成自己的语言.

Tip:对同谓语的解释尽量宽泛一些,有利于句子的拉长.

对于入语加定语从句开头.

就是说:将题目中的中心词拿出来,进行宽泛的解释.

这一方法对很大一部分的考题都是有效的.

过了一个月，它突然一直拉肚子，本来以为只是普通的吃坏肚子，没想到情况越来越恶化，我心急如焚，决定在第二天带它去看兽医；但就在隔天柔柔离开了我们，死去了，知道这个恶耗，我的心情顿时跌到谷底，抱著妈妈痛哭，后来我跟弟弟就做了一个坟墓来哀悼它。

Good morning， ladies and gentlemen， boys and girls. Now ，It‘s my turn. My name is Edgar， a high school student. I am very honored to be here to give you a speech. Also it’s a good chance for me to improve my English. I hope I can make a good performance today. The topic of my speech is “After studying here”.

Before I came here，I can never imagine that I can learn so much knowledge about other countries， which can‘t be got from my books in school. Three months ago， I took my first class. Unfortunately， I felt so embarrassed， because I even can’t speak any words， though I know I really love English .

With the advent of mobile phone and computer , the phenomenon that people

after having their moment of belief in you are wasting everyones precious time.

Because you are not for them. You are for the children. Children who need some

magic in a world where the borders between innocence and responsibility, playful

imagination and cold, adult obstacles are continually shrinking.

This is what Id like to ask you to help with. A little more time for

children to be children. Stretch the moment of magic and playfulness. Distract

them from the realities of a world gone mad so that they can laugh with their

breath rather than sob with their tears. Especially those caring for family

members, or suffering illness, hunger or poverty. Especially those hiding in

buildings as bombs rain down, or being handed shaking with fear or cold into a

boat to escape environmental disaster or war. Please help to light up their

worlds with a moment of joy and hope.

When I think about it youve got it tough this year... And when I really

think about it Im not sure that asking you for a lightsaber and getting one

(not that I ever did by the way) is equatable with controlling the space time

continuum and making the good of childhood last a little longer.

But you do inspire wonder and awe amongst those that write you letters and

go to sleep hoping there might be a new object in their possession come dawn.

You inspire good behaviour and, at least in my memory, some desperate last

minute attempts to redeem bad behaviour so as not to be overlooked. Spare a

thought too for those millions who want to write to you but through illiteracy

cant. Hear their words and help to give them the time and chance to learn how

to read and write so they can better their lives and escape their impoverished

beginnings.

I feel a little sorry for you. And I guess Ive done exactly what I said I

wouldnt... Asked you to help with adult problems and solve some of the greatest

worries we have for our children. I promise to leave some extra port and mince

pies for you!

它有一双灵敏的耳朵和它的特别的三瓣嘴，它还有着一双像红宝石一样的眼镜，短短的尾巴毛茸茸的。它有四只胖乎乎的小脚爪，跑起来可快了，像一团小雪球在快速地滚动。

小白兔吃东西的时候挺有趣的，我拿起食物走向它时，它就把前腿抓住笼子的边角好像准备随时冲出来夺食物。它睡觉的时候也很可爱，总是把身子卷成一团，然后把尾巴缩起来，要是这时你用手轻轻碰下它，吵到它睡觉，它就会竖起耳朵瞪着你，像是对你说：“快走开，别打扰我睡觉。”有时候小白兔也很淘气，我让它跳，它偏假装在睡觉，总是气得我火冒三丈。可是又拿它没办法。尽管这样，我还是很喜欢小白兔！

2．词语选择的可能性

实际上，我们每个人的脑子里都有了一个或大或小的词库，只要我们肯去发掘，往往可以得到更好的表达方式。这是我们做好词语选用的主观条件。

小刺猬出门采果子，走着走着，看见小白兔在画小花猫，就说：“哎呀呀，你的画真糟糕！你看，我身上的尖刺多威风，多神气！快，赶紧照着我的样子加上去！”“你的建议真不错，谢谢你！”小白兔一边说着，一边给自己画的小花猫添上了一根根神气的尖刺。

大象到小河边去游泳，看见小白兔在画她最好的朋友小花猫呢！大象说：“你画的小花猫实在是太难看了。你看，我的鼻子多长多好看呀！快，赶紧照着我的样子，给小花猫画上去。”“你的建议太好了，谢谢你！我觉得小花猫一定会喜欢的。”小白兔开心地说着，给画上的小花猫加上了又长又美丽的大象鼻。

接着，小鸟、孔雀、小猴……都来给小白兔提建议，小白兔二话不说都接受了。

小花猫听说了这件事情后，赶紧跑到大树底下，看看小白兔把自己画成什么样了。“呀！小白兔，你怎么把我画得像妖怪一样！以后你不要一股脑儿都听别人的建议。自己也要动脑筋想一想，如果有道理，你才能接受啊！知道了吗？”“知道了……”小白兔惭愧地低下了头。

一天下午，我放学回家时，看到不远处有一些人围在一起，不知道在看什么，我好奇地凑过去，一看，啊！原来是小白兔！

我一直梦想着有一只小白兔。圣诞节的晚上，我和妈妈走在回家的路上，妈妈突然对我说：“今天晚上有一个惊喜哦！”我漫不经心地问：“啊？是什么啊？”因为妈妈的惊喜向来没那么有趣，但妈妈笑而不语。

回到家，我隐约看见墙角有一个纸箱子。走近一看，浅粉色的长耳朵，一双血红的小眼睛，一个又圆又短的，像小绒球一样的短尾巴——啊！是一只小白兔！我激动极了，用手一遍遍抚摸着它的皮毛，像雪一样洁白……所以，我决定叫它“小雪”。

“小雪”很警觉，刚开始我们之间还有点儿陌生。它有时蹲在箱子里很长时间一动不动，如果我看着它进食，它察觉到后就会立刻停止，血红的眼睛一眨不眨地盯着我。只有我离开时，它才会左瞧瞧右看看，确定没人后才小心翼翼地继续进食。

后来，每逢进食时，我就轻声细语地和它说话，像对待一个嗷嗷待哺的小婴儿。慢慢地，它发现我不会伤害它，又对它十分关爱，便和我友好地相处起来。每天回家总听见箱子里有咚咚声，原来是“小雪”在箱子里跳来跳去，欢迎它的小主人呢！我也经常买新鲜的胡萝卜和白菜，切成小块喂它。“小雪”每次吃完后冲我挤挤眼睛，轻叫几声，蹦跳几下，像是对我表达感谢。

一天，我生病了，没精打采，坐在沙发上看书，忽然觉得脚下毛绒绒的。低头一看，原来是“小雪”。它用身子拱我的腿，小眼睛看着我，眼神里带着乞求。我猜它一定是想吃胡萝卜了，就打开冰箱——但是萝卜早就没了踪影！我恍然大悟，萝卜昨天就吃完了！我无奈地对小雪耸耸肩，指着空空如也的冰箱给它看。“小雪”急了，它蹭着我的脚，呜呜地叫着。我一下子心疼起来，“小雪”红宝石般的眼睛里带着失落和恳求……

我披上大衣，将自己所有的零花钱都数了出来，冒着严寒走向超市。

爸爸给我买了一只小白兔，白白胖胖的，长一对长长的耳朵，一双红红的眼睛，一只小巧玲珑的鼻子，一个小小的三瓣嘴，尾巴又圆又短。看到它这副可爱的模样，我给它取了个美丽的名字——丽丽。

丽丽有一个爱好就是群居生活，也喜欢打洞；胆子很小，听觉嗅觉灵敏；喜欢吃草，更喜欢吃萝卜，还喜欢吃白菜呢！

丽丽吃东西时，嘴两边的胡须就会跟着上下摆动，还会发出“咯吱、咯吱”的声音。

它有个坏习惯，就是吃菜叶时，喜欢东咬咬西咬咬，把菜叶咬得破烂不堪。过两天菜叶不新鲜了，它就踩来踩去，当垃圾场玩，但尽管这样，我也不舍得责备它。因为淘气是他的本性。

小雪还很顽皮。记得有一次，我觉得它在笼子里太不自由了，就把小雪放了出来，可是它一出来就活蹦乱跳，玩了一会儿，我叫它回笼子里，可它不听，我只好叫爸爸，爸爸来了，它他身手敏捷，捉到了小雪，小雪吓得直叫，好像在说：“让爸爸放了我吧，我在和你闹着玩呢。”

我最喜欢这可爱调皮的小白兔了，有它的陪伴，会更加幸福。
