Dear Sir,

I am a December 2003 graduate from the University of San Francisco (USF) with a bachelors degree in International Business. As part of my career planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business education with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language. This I hope will help me enter into business commerce with business organizations partnering with Chinas economic development.

I already have information from BLCU and hope to study there for at least one full year starting with this summers program continuing through the fall and spring semester 2006. Can your office advise me if such scholarships might be available to me?

I have been studying Chinese for one year now. I am not sure what level I belong to. I was told that there will be an HSK test in our university in September. I am planning to attend the test. But I dont know if the result of the test is recognized by your university. If so, can it be a help for me to apply for the scholarship?

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a very important Chinese festival. It’s on lunar

fifth of August.

In the evening, we have a big dinner. Look, there is a lot of delicious

food on the table. We can drink a glass of juice. We stand beside the table and

we say, “Cheers, cheers, happy Mid-Autumn Festival!” We make a wish to each

other. At night, the moon is usually round and bright. It looks like a ball. We

can enjoy the moon. Moon cakes are the special food for this festival. We can

eat moon cakes, too. In the Mid-Autumn Festival, my parents and I are all very

happy and excited.

秋的气息，秋的味道，伴着秋姑娘轻盈的步伐，越来越浓烈了。 The breath of autumn, the taste of autumn, is more and more intense with the light pace of the girl autumn.

一年一度的秋游在我的期盼中到来了，我兴奋地连觉都睡不着。听老师说，这次是去景色秀丽的玉环漩门湾国家湿地公园和玉环文旦种植基地，虽然我前不久才和爸爸妈妈去游玩过，但我还是非常的期待。

到了目的地，同学们连蹦带跳地下了车。迎面吹来一阵阵凉爽的秋风，放眼望去，泛黄的树叶，随风一吹，飘飘悠悠在空中飞舞，好象一只只飞舞的蝴蝶，又好象报告人们秋天来了。

走进荷兰风情园，首先映入眼帘的是一座古老的风车，风车的风叶像张开的翅膀，与田园里的红花、绿草、小河构成了独特的景致，更为这田园风光增添了童话般的神奇色彩!

离开荷兰风情园，我们来到了芦苇塘。晚秋，是芦苇花盛开的季节。毛茸茸的芦苇花，随风一吹，好像天女散花似的，纷纷扬扬，我跑去摘来一支芦苇花，偎在脸上，柔柔的，痒痒的，真好玩啊!芦苇塘附近有一座景观台，爬上景观台处眺望芦苇塘，发现芦苇塘在阳光的照耀下，闪闪发光，像铺上了一层银子。

再瞧那，我们班的同学趁着这难得机会，像放出笼的鸟儿一样，四散而开，尽情的释放情绪，有的在玩炫斗小Q，有的在玩游戏，那开心的笑脸，仿佛又让我们回到了无忧无虑的童年。

午后，我们来到了文旦园。走近文旦园里，一股沁人心脾的香味迎面扑来，那些文旦就像一个个小皮球。成熟的文旦颜色是的。我三步并作两步跑到文旦园里，一个个文旦探出脑袋，好像在说：“你好!你好!欢迎你的到来!”。

我像一只小蜜蜂采蜜一样，摸摸这个文旦，又摸摸那个文旦。是又圆又扁的好呢，还是又高又大的好呢，掂掂这个，掂掂那个，像个行家一样，总觉得这个文旦会比那个更好!

最后，我们来到大坝上放风筝，我和王晗朵一组，接过老师发给我们的风筝，二话没说就开始动手组装了，我们先把三根支撑柱装到风筝上，再拿出线团，将线的一头牢牢地系在风筝上。开始放风筝了，我俩一个拿线团，一个托风筝，一声“放”，风筝就凌空飞起，渐渐地，风筝高过树梢，越过云朵。

时间过得真快，老师告诉我们要返校了，我们收起风筝，依依不舍的离开了公园。

这次秋游活动收获真大啊!

We are going to Shanghai to visit the Oriental Pearl Tower (东方明珠塔) tomorrow. It’s a beautiful and famous place. And it’s more beautiful at night. Do you know how we can get there ?

TheOrientalPearlToweris in the east ofShanghai. It is far from the train station (站) . So we can to there by the No. 1 subway. Get off at the People’s Park. Next go straight for ten minutes, turn left at the third crossing , then walk straight. You can find theOrientalPearlToweron the right.

Today is Mid-autumn Day. I have a big meal at home with my parents and

relatives. This is an important festival, so my mother was busy with preparing

the dinner from morning. She bought a lot of foods for the dinner. We ate the

dinner at 5:30 p.m.. The dinner was very delicious. I was so full. After dinner,

we went to theHongTingParkto enjoy the glorious full moon. There were many

people in the park. We talked to each other and strangers. Of course, the moon

cake was essential. We had a great night there.

她是一个很幽默，可爱的人。一次她在黑板上画了一只猴子，指着画，请了一个开小差的同学问她这是什么。她一慌之下把monkey说成了lizard。陆老师瞪大眼睛，装出一脸狐疑，轻声地问：“同学们，你们看到过像这种品种的lizard吗？下面一阵哄堂大笑。老师及时纠正说：“这是monkey，以后上课要认真听。”

有一次，有位同学上课在开小差，陆老师轻轻地走过去，拍拍他的肩膀说：“革命尚未成功，同志仍需努力啊！”小朋友有错误时，陆老师从不正面批评而是用巧妙的语言给予提醒。

在她的英语课上总是充满了欢声笑语，我们也越来越喜欢英语了！

我长大了，真的，真的。看，我的身高已经168cm了，体重也已经有60kg了。我不但在身体上长大了，还在行动上长大了呢！

我以前胆子一般，可就是乘公交车，我可不敢。周六去育才培训班，都就是老妈送我的。可就是随着时光的推移，老妈就不干了，非要我一个人乘车去。没办法，我只好证明一下我自我了。

又一个星期六，我和妈妈正式来到526车的车站（能够到达目的地）。老妈趁车子还没有来给我了4枚硬币，2枚就是来回的费用，还有2枚就是怕我坐过车而用的。也许就是恐怖小说看多了，我不禁深深吸了口气。

看看周围。天气还不错，就就是有点热。老妈的汗十分多。可不知为什么，我却感到有点阴森。在树上，小鸟也欢快地唱着，可就是我觉得它们都在唱：“打劫！打劫！”

最后，526来了。老妈提醒我了一句：“你要注意，一共有7站，别过头了！”我急急忙忙地上了车。

到车上，看见526车排下方的座位没人，于就是我就做了下去。我的心蹦蹦直跳，生怕像许多小说写得那样。我用我那紧张而又快僵硬的头转过去看周围的乘客，只见有的在呼呼大睡，有的在发信息，还有的在往窗外看。还好车上要么就是文质彬彬的小伙子，要么就是一些和蔼可亲的中年人，要么就是梳着长发的阿姨……没有一个有坏人相。

突然上来一个戴着墨镜，养着长胡子的大约三十岁左右的男子。我吓坏了，想这就就是电视上、小说上坏人的样貌啊！（之后我发现我电视和小说看多了）。

没想到他竟然走了过来，还和我说话：“小朋友，……”“你……你干……干嘛啊？”他不就是要打劫吧？我打断了他的话，断断续续地说到。“请你让一下好不好？”哦！原先我里面那个位置就是空的，他要我让一下。哎~怎样不早说，我已经汗流浃背了。

最后，广播传来了目的地已到的消息。我飞快下了车，新里充满无限的激动。

望着526远去的背影，望着旁边“育才培训中心”几个大字，望着口袋里的三枚硬币，我想我不再需要那两枚了。此刻，我真想立刻“飞”到班级里，对我的好朋友们喊一声：“我长大了！”不仅仅过瘾，还和他们一齐分享了我的喜悦！

香栀，九月正灿烂的绽放着一朵朵清绮瑰丽的花朵，雪白，却不乏生气，开学了，在这个阳光的字眼里。

李琦——我的英语老师。初次之见，李老师的音容笑貌，宛如一支烧得滚烫发红的烙铁，便深深地印上我的心头。

爽朗洒脱的性格，朗朗有力的嗓音和永远严肃的瞳仁中，却不乏一丝母性的慈爱；微挺的鼻梁上，架着一副红框眼镜，圆圆的秀气脸庞，中等微胖的身材，在初次见面就掷地冰寒，说话丝毫不留情。俗话说得好，严师出高徒。虽然我不是那么喜欢这种方式，也不那么提倡，可是我十分欣赏这种传统的教学方式，这样同学们也会将注意力更加集中在课堂的学习上，也让课上喜欢开小差的同学闻风丧胆，从而使学习提高并且还有良好的自觉性。

听说李老师在艺术上也颇有见解，曾领导过学校的英语合唱团参加过许多大大小小的比赛，并且取得优异成绩。而且Mrs.李在教师圈中也具有魅力的人气，是位平易近人的老师，

在往后的日子里，我要再接再厉学习英语，因为我是那么地尊敬我的英语老师——Mrs.李。

2020年10月22日，多云。我们坐着大巴来到了都市菜园。 October 22, 2020, cloudy.We came to the urban vegetable garden with a bus.

这个地方非常得大，有七百亩呢!里面有五个展馆，分别是农耕博览馆、博雅农园、馨香蔬苑、奇瓜异蔬苑、四季果园。

我们走马观花地参观了农耕博览馆和博雅农园，来到了馨香蔬苑。一股清香扑鼻而来，原来是薄荷、熏衣草和其它多种蕴含着香气的植物散发出来的

漫步在光明湖畔，湖面上波光粼粼。突然，一群天鹅出现在我的视线里，雪白的羽毛，长长的脖子，用红红的脚掌拨动着水面，这难道就是“白毛浮绿水，红掌拨清波”的美丽景色么?

来到奇瓜异蔬苑，那细细长长的蛇瓜，属于葫芦科，是丝瓜的亲戚。它的`身材只有一双筷子那么细，但是长得惊人，足有一米八!真像一条直着身子的大青蛇。金黄色的“丑小鸭”葫芦，浑身长满一个个大小不一的疙瘩，有的像大拇指那么大，有的却像无名指那么小。虽然它是葫芦的近亲，但还是有所不同的。普通葫芦的柄很短，有两个圆滚滚的肚子;但它的葫芦柄却很长，只有一个扁扁胖胖的肚子，真像一只名副其实的“丑小鸭”呀!金灿灿的超级大南瓜，就像是穿了一件用金子镀成的衣服，真奇特!它非常大，扁扁的、胖胖的，我估计四个小朋友都抱不起来。

最后，我们去了田里，开始“挖山芋大行动”。山芋的叶子是突齿状的，茎是毛茸茸的。一开始我怎么也找不到山芋。史伟淞走过来，告诉我说：“你尽量往一株山芋的下面挖，这样就能挖到了!”我半信半疑地试了一下，嘿，真的可以!一个大大的山芋被我挖了出来，而且还是“两头怪”呢!后来我又挖到了三个山芋。可惜的是，我挖到的有三个是被虫子咬过的，只有一个是完好无损的。

这真是一次难忘的秋游啊!

Hello,everyone! My Winter vacation`s life was so interesting.Do you want to know what I did during the Winter vacation? Well, at the first week, I did my homework,surfed the Internet,played computer games and watched TV. At the second week, I helped my parents with housewrk, so I did the dishes, washed lots of my parents` clothes and helped them take out the trash. At the third week, I chatted with my girl friend on mobile phone and we both had a good time.I had a happy Winter vacation`s life ! So how about you? What did you do during the Winter vacation?

i have a good friend. her name is emily. we are very friendly. yesterday was her thirteenth birthday. her friend and her parents held a party for her.

in the evening, all her friends came to emily’s home. each had a very nice present for her. at the moment, emily felt very happy. and so were her parents and her friends. look! the meal was on the table. how delicious they were! there were all kinds of food: eggs, fish, fried chicken, dumplings, pork, beef and some fruits.

after supper, emily sang a song“ happy birthday to you!” she has a nice voice. everybody said that she was a good singer. then we celebrated emily, “happy birthday to you! ” she said, “thank you! ” after this, emily’s mother took a birthday cake to the table. we gave presents to emily and emily began to blow candles. everybody was very delighter.

at last, we watched cartoon. what a good, nice birthday party.

During the 15 days from New Year’s Eve to Lantern Festival, Beijing was

affected by smog for more than half the time, because of which people suffered a

lot. On the road people drove slowly because they could not see clearly. People

also suffered from many illnesses caused by smog.

The smog in Beijing has been caused by many factors, in which the increase

of cars in the city area plays an important role. The carssend off a lot of

poisonous gases, which in turn adds to the already seriousair pollution.

In my opinion, the number of cars should be limited.We should call on the

people to use more public transport. Only in this way canwe expect to have more

sunny days.

River bend around a few, through my door, that is born I keep my place -

the metro. Metro is a beautiful place, as a handsome township of children, we

should say loudly: "metro is a good place!"

Metro beautiful scenery. In front of the metro is water, is behind the

mountain, under the blue sky white clouds, mountains, everywhere is tall tower,

all is wide asphalt road. Binjiang road but also the beautiful scenery line of

metro. Long corridor, clean the pavilion, also with many beautiful flowers all

the year round, everywhere with a light faint scent, let people leisure mood is

particularly happy. Binjiang road is very long and it is said that its length is

dozens of times longer than a train! In binjiang road east, there is a large

square, it is the famous marshal RongZhen square. Marshal statue stands in the

east side, every day to protect the children of handsome township. In the bottom

of the square is the metro music fountain, every Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

People mountain people sea here, and all the people gather here from all

directions, watch the wonderful and magical fountain, make you unconsciously

with the music, such as into the wonderland in the colorful spray. In pieces of

screams, cool water mist spill in your face, when you will suddenly wake up, a

fountain there are movies.

In metro east side, there is a second Yangtze river bridge, it is currently

the only car sharing with light rail bridge in chongqing. It is not only a

bright spot of the metro and metros masterpiece. Metro is rapid economic

development, it is with chongqing, before is no longer that little city!

Metro products is also very rich. Have metro meters flower sugar, metro

sesame rod, shancheng, peanut oil creek, pioneer in Chinese prickly ash, metro

dahongpao orange, etc. Among them, my favorite food is dahongpao orange. Because

of it, a sour sweet. Gently bite and juices flowing, sings full flesh,

delicious!

Look, this is my beautiful hometown -- metro!

金秋的阳光并不像想象中的那么和煦，秋高气爽倒是有所体会。

站在操场上，听着教官和老师的鼓舞，享受着一点点秋风的抚慰，对于军训，我充满了期待。

早就听学姐学长们说军训的种.种，而今我的亲身体验却与之有着一点差别。军训本身就是一项严肃而认真的工作，也可以说是人生旅途必经的一站，人生漫漫，风景不可能一直让人心解，让人惬意，偶尔的考验将为我们的生命画上更为绚丽的色彩。

汉代哲学家王修道：“志向高远的人,能够不断地磨炼自己,以成就大业,没有节操的人,懈怠轻忽,只能成为平庸之辈。”就像俗话说的：“玉不琢，不成器”一样。人只有经过磨练才能成才。“为人者必先止其乎。”而军训就为我们“正身”提供了一个好机会，让我们明白纪律，懂得团结，学会顾全大局!

Freedom is an important right of people. It usually refers that you can do

want you want and live the life you want. Of course, it must be on the basis

that you can’t affect others’ freedom. Otherwise, it does not belong to your

freedom anymore. In my opinion, freedom is not you can do whatever you want, but

you don’t have to do what you don’t want to. We live in the same society, which

there are many rules constraining our behaviors. Therefore, we can’t do whatever

we want. But we are not forced to do what we don’t want to is freedom.

还记得，我读三年级那年过的中秋节。那天虽然没能吃到月饼，但却是我过的最甜最快乐的一个中秋节。 Remember, I read the Mid -Autumn Festival that year in the third year.Although I couldnt eat moon cake that day, it was the sweetest and happiest Mid -Autumn Festival I spent.

那天因为我生病了，所以要一整天都呆在医院里。不能出去，也不能吃月饼这类的东西。于是我就坐在病床上输着液。跟奶奶大眼瞪小眼的看着对方的脸。看了大半天后才终于输完了一瓶盐水。还剩下两瓶没有开始输。但我的肚子早就开始咕咕叫了。于是奶奶便给爸爸打了个电话。让他给我们煮点粥来。外面的东西奶奶不放心让我吃。

但是我们等了差不多半个小时，还是没见到爸爸和粥的影子。后来我们才想起来，爸爸那会做粥养啊!可是奶奶又要照护我脱不开身。这可怎么办呀!正当我们两不知所措时，我的病房门被打开了。我望向的病房门口，爸爸正站在那里。

只见爸爸满头大汗、气喘吁吁的看着我和奶奶。手里还提着一个保温饭盒。他把粥递给了我。我看着他。觉得这碗粥有千斤重

怎么也送不到嘴边。爸爸笑着说：“傻女儿，怎么不吃呢?你不是很早就饿了吗?快吃呀!”

我拿起了粥狠狠的吃了一大口。那粥真的是难以下咽。但是看着爸爸那一脸期待的表情。我又不好意思说出不好吃这句话。于是便强行把那碗粥给吃了。还边吃边说着好吃、好吃、真好吃……

后来我才知道原来爸爸是跑来的。因为爸爸打不到车去医院，又怕我饿，所以就跑来了。怪不得他那天到的时候满头大汗的。家里隔医院那可是几十里的路呀!爸爸一定很累。

虽然那碗粥的味道的确不怎么样。但却是我心目中吃的粥。我永远也不会忘了这个没有月饼的中秋节。

谁说中秋节就一定要有月饼?我有那碗难以下咽的爸爸粥就够了。三年前的中秋节是我最难忘的一个中秋节。也是我过的最甜、最快乐的一个中秋节!

Tammy was in a bad mood. Her parents had insisted that she was too young for a cell phone，no matter how much she begged. “But Sun and Alicia have cell phone!” Tammy cried. “If I don’t get one, I won’t be popular.”

“Having a cell phone doesn’t make you popular,” Tammy’s dad said. He is always saying stuff like this, As if he knew what it was to be in fourth grade. “Besides,” Dad said, “your school doesn’t allow cell phones, and you can call your friends from the house as soon you finish your homework.”

“But I can’t send them text messages,” Tammy relied.

“By that time I won’t need one,”Tammy said. “Nobody will know who I am. I might as well moved to a desert island!”

“In that case, I’ll get you some empty bottles and some paper,” Dad said. “Bottle messages are much cooler than text messages.”

I love basketball. I want to be a basketball player. In the future, in

about ten years，Ill be on our country basketball team. I will be the captain of

our team. I will live in New York. Why?Because I will play basketball in NBA. I

will do best in it. So, I will be very famous. In my free time, I will travel

the world. I like Europe. The people there are very polite, and the cities are

very beautiful. Maybe I will go there to spend my holiday. I might even live

several months there every year.

im of the opinion that taiwans students are pathetic because they have too much pressure in their lives. because they have to pass the joint college entrance eam, they must study hard, to meet their teachers and parents epectations, they have to study day and night. but its such a shame because most students dont know what they really want and what their goals in their future should be. so what should they strive towards? should they only want to get the best grades and pass the jcee? the answer is no. in my view, all students should calm down for a few minutes and think earnestly about what they want.

寒冬的夜晚，如钩的残月爬上天空，东风卸去淑女的妆容，肆意地狂舞;远处的天边传来一声凄厉的哀鸣，划破了深夜的寂静。 In the cold winter night, like the hooks remnant moon climbing into the sky, Dongfeng removed the ladys makeup and dance wildly;The silence of the night was cut.

我蜷缩在房间的某个角落，瑟瑟发抖。被那猛然出现的消息吓得不知所措。当我正握笔在日记上写下“今日无事”时，祖母告诉我父亲出车祸了。圆珠笔从手上滑落，撞在地面上发出一声刺耳的声音。

我想哭却不知道眼泪要从哪里落下。就那么呆呆的茫然地蜷缩着。祖母抱着我，不停地安慰我，但我却什么都听不进去，只是抱着一团棉被，面无表情的盯着前方。

渐渐地，似乎觉得与整个世界都隔绝了，心中留下的只有冷。一声鸡鸣声吹散了天空上覆盖着的阴霾。天亮了么?可为什么我的世界只是一片黑暗?

不知什么时候，是谁把我带到了父亲的病房，忽闻带一股熟悉的味道，那强忍了好久的泪水终于滚了下来，渗进嘴里，苦苦的，涩涩的。

我趴在父亲的床前，任父亲爱怜的揉着我散乱的发丝，告诉我“宝贝，不哭!要坚强，要像梅花一样坚强!”像梅花一样坚强?望向窗外，那一株艳红的梅花在风雪中昂着头颅傲然向上，在一片白色中尤为显眼。走近，摸一摸它娇嫩的花瓣，竟觉得有些热呢!那是你在燃烧生命之火，拼搏之火，坚强之火吗?你是在教导我要坚强乐观吗?

猛然觉得这只是上帝给我的考验，那株红梅是上帝派来指引我走向成功的天使，放眼望去，前方又是一片光明。

再次走向病房，带着那久违的笑容告诉父亲：“爸，你要赶快好起来哦!我们一起去踏雪寻梅。”“好!”病房里笑声一片。在这温馨的时刻，一朵春花已悄然盛开，一股温暖袭上心头。

站在湖边，看着湖水里的自己。我问“你会放弃吗?”绝不会!“你会坚强吗?”一定会!“你能赛过梅花吗?”能!对着她我自信地笑，坚强地笑。

那一刻，我的世界春暖花开!
