presently wish to gain advantage for themselves.

We are all familiar with the abuses of technology. Many people blame

technology itself for widespread pollution, resource depletion and even social

decay in general--so much so that the promise of technology is obscured. That

promise is a cleaner and healthier world. If wise applications of science and

technology do not lead to a better world, what else will?

The Dragon Boat Festival， also called the Duanwu Festival， is celebrated on

the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. This

festival is to commemorate the death of QU Yuan， an upright and honest poet and

statesman who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a

river.

The most important activity of this festival is the Dragon Boat races. It

symbolizes people‘s attempts to rescue Qu Yuan. In the current period， these

races also demonstrate the virtues of cooperation and teamwork.

Besides， the festival has also been marked by eating zong zi (glutinous

rice). Zongzi is made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and

wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. People who mourned the death of Qu threw Zong

zi into the river to feed his ghost every year.

With the changes of the times， the memorial turns to be a time for

protection from evil and disease for the rest of year. People will hang healthy

herbs on the front door to clear the bad luck of the house. Although the

significance of the festival might be different with the past， it still gives

the observer an opportunity to glimpse a part of the rich Chinese cultural

heritage.

“又是一年芳草绿”，伴随着春姑娘的脚步，清明节到了。只是今年我们家没时间去扫墓。

还记得，我六年级那年，学校组织了一次清明扫墓，目的地是雁荡烈士墓。

一路上，我不停地张望。三月的春日，田野里麦子正在吐绿；一畦畦一方方的麦田，如绿色的翠玉，铺排着伸向远方。远方是闪耀着淡蓝色光晕的太行山，层层叠叠的山峰相互交错，映入你眼帘的是起伏蜿蜒的轮廓；犬牙参互，气象峥嵘。让我遥想到六七十年以前的抗日战争，晋察冀军区的将士们在崇山峻岭间与敌人周旋着，号称“名将之花”的阿布规秀，就被八路军击毙在黄土岭上。田野里还有树木，土路边的杨树笔直挺拔，这时已吐出了亿万条芳香的花穗。路边，可以看到杏园，成排的杏树上开满了雪白的花，这些白色薄绢做成的花朵，会让你想起一首浪漫的诗，一副古雅的画。田间有干活的人，他们沐浴在暖阳和风之中，有的翻地松土，有的浇水施肥，各忙着各的事情。

清明时节，田野间的土路上，时而会遇到走向亲人坟墓的人；他们有的步行，有的骑车，有的还开着小汽车从遥远的异乡颠簸而来，为的是在亲人的坟头，摆上聊表心意的供飨，燃起冥币，然后深深地长跪，磕几个响头，随着纸烟的飘荡，诉说对亲人的思念。

跟随着整齐的队伍，不知不觉中，我们就到了雁荡烈士墓。

望着眼前的烈士雕像，我思绪万千，无数革命烈士的鲜血染红了国旗，董存瑞、杨靖宇……，烈士的风采让我心潮澎湃。

这时，大队辅导员那高昂的声音打断了我的思绪。随后，我们开始了祭扫活动。

随着音乐，我们缓缓的唱起了队歌。我们唱出了激昂，唱出了革命烈士那种坚贞不屈的精神。歌声缓缓而去，但我依然沉浸在那高昂的乐曲里。

这时，辅导员为我们讲起了革命故事，那一幕幕往事让我感到震撼，一位位革命先驱舍己救国，我怎能不为此感动呢？

随后，我们有怀着无比庄重的心情，为革命烈士献花。我把自己精心做的小白花弯腰放到地上，十分庄严肃穆。

踏上了回学校的路，同学们也没有来时的兴奋。一切，有些沉寂。

清明时节，杂花生树，群莺乱飞。一只无名小鸟掠过松柏，叫声阵阵：

好好生活，好好生活……
