The novel is rich in poetry, symbolism and metaphor. It does not fit easily into a definite pattern, being neither a novel of "manners" in the tradition of Austen, or a straightforward Gothic Romance in the style of Mrs Radcliffe. What Charlotte Bronte did was to create a work which cleverly blends elements of the two styles, and which remains uniquely independent of them at the same time, since it addresses issues which were at the time rather controversial.

The novel is written in the first person, and thus magnifies the central character - the reader enters the world of Jane Eyre and is transported through her experiences at first hand. This at once makes the work subjective, especially since we know that Charlottes Brontes own life and experiences were so closely interwoven with the heroines. As well as this we learn only at the end of the novel that the events are being related to us ten years after the reconciliation with Rochester - thus the narrative is RETROSPECTIVE (looking back). CB is clever in blending the narrative so that at times Jane seems to be speaking as an adult with adult hindsight , while at others she she is "in the middle" of them, as a child or young woman. The indecision which is a central issue in the book, is heightened by this device. We never know, as readers, whether to be entirely trustful of Janes actions and thoughts, because we are never sure wheher she is speaking impulsively or maturely.

This intensifies the readers dilemma as to what is "right" and "wrong" in the dramatic relationships which are part of JEs life. Can we believe what the heroine says, or is she deceiving herself? The novel is primarily a love story and a "romance" where wishes come true but only after trials and suffering. The supernatural has its place, as do dreams, portents and prophesies. The heroine begins poor and lonely and ends up rich and loved; the orphan finds a good family to replace the wicked one; all the basic ingredients of classic romantic fairytale are present.

The romantic element is present in two forms in Jane Eyre; the "family" aspect is dealt with in the Gateshead, Lowood and Moor House episodes, which involve the exchanging of the wicked Reed family for the benevolent Rivers one; and the Love romance is dealt with in the Thornfield and Ferndean episodes. Both aspects are, of course linked and interwoven throughout the novel.

There is also a strong element of realism in the novel, which, married to the romantic aspect, enhances the novels strength.The sense of place is very strong; we are able to experience both exterior and interior settings with startling clarity throughout the story, in a series of vivid deive passages. The central characters are also realistic and their confrontations and sufferings change them in a believable way.

Even the unlikely is made plausible, with a unique blend of high drama and perceptive low comedy (the attack on Mason, for instance)

The more fantastic romantic aspects; the coincidences; the secrets; the supernatural occurrences, are balanced by the realism, and this is of course a major strength.

The Gothic influence cannot be ignored, although CB has refined the technique considerably from the "authentic" Gothic of the 1790s. In the original genre, the heroine would typically be abducted and threatened with seduction, or worse!. There would be a lover - a respectable, well-bred young man - who would endeavor to rescue the heroine and would succeed after many trial. the seducer would be a brigand "Know that I adore Corsairs!" and he would lock the girl up in a remote castle.

There was little freedom for middle class women during the period of the Gothic novel, and this was still the case in the time of CB. Marriage especially was often a bargain, whereby fortunes were secured by using the female as a pawn. A womans value largely depended therefore on her sexual purity and she was guarded and secured as a result. Men, on the contrary, were potent and free; lovers and mistresses were common. Ironically the women who provided their services were social outcasts as a result.

In Jane Eyre we see elements of the Gothic romance, in that Thornfield Hall and Rochester are described very much in the brigand/castle style BUT Jane Eyre is not abducted by R. its long long ago, maybe before i can read english books. i dont remember which movie edition i had seen. but i was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. i was very favor of a section of music in its balls. its pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. regarding to the characters, i liked elizabeth, the heroine,though i didnt think shes beautiful. but shes smart. however, i didnt pay much attention to the plot. i thought its so long that it made me impatient and bored. by now, i havent read the whole story in english or its chinese version, either. i owe it to my prejudice.

Wuthering Heights is structured around two parallel love stories, the first half of the novel centering on the love between Catherine and Heathcliff, while the less dramatic second half features the developing love between young Catherine and Hareton. In contrast to the first, the latter tale ends happily, restoring peace and order to Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. In the story, the two houses, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, represent opposing worlds and values.

I spent twenty days reading this book. After reading this book, I felt for Heathcliff at first. Heathcliff begins his life as a homeless orphan on the streets of Liverpool, and then he tyrannized by Hindley Earnshaw. But he becomes a villain when he acquires power and returns to Wuthering Heights with money and the trappings of a gentleman. His malevolence proves so great and long—lasting. As he himself points out, his abuse of Isabella—his wife is purely sadistic, as he amuses himself by seeing how much abuse she can take and still come cringing back for more.

Catherine represents wild nature, in both her high, lively spirits and her occasional cruelty. She loves Heathcliff so intensely that she claims they are the same person. However, her actions are driven in part by her social ambitions, which initially are awakened during her first stay at the Lintons, and which eventually compel her to marry Edgar. Catherine is free—spirited, beautiful, spoiled, and often arrogant, she is given to fits of temper, and she is torn between her both of the men who love her. The location of her coffin symbolizes the conflict that tears apart her short life. She is buried in a corner of the Kirkyard. In contrast to Catherine, Isabella Linton—Catherine’s sister—in—law represents culture and civilization, both in her refinement and in her weakness. Ultimately, she ruins her life by falling in love with Heathcliff. He never returns her feelings and treats her as a meretool in his quest for revenge on the Linton family.

Just as Isabella Linton serves as Catherine’s foil, Edgar Linton serves as Heathcliff’s. Edgar grows into a tender, constant, but cowardly man. He is almost the ideal gentleman. However, this full assortment of gentlemanly characteristics, along with his civilized virtues, proves useless in Edgar’s clashes with his foil. He sees his wife obviously in love with another man but unable to do anything to rectify the situation. Heathcliff, who gains power over his wife, sister , and daughter.

I like this book because it rest on the unforgettable characters. Wuthering Heights is based partly on the Gothic tradition, a style of literature that featured supernatural encounters, crumbling ruins, moonless nights, and grotesque imagery, seeking to create effects of mystery and fear. I would like to recommend this book to other readers.

最近，我读了一本名叫《夏洛的网》的书。书中每一篇文章、每一个故事都精妙绝伦，使我回味无穷。

这本书主要讲了这样一个故事：威尔伯是一头弱小的猪，险些死在阿拉布尔先生的斧头下，是女孩弗恩救了它，并对它悉心照顾。威尔伯一个月大的时候，来到了朱克曼家的谷仓。谷仓里有许多动物，在这里，威尔伯和蜘蛛夏洛建立了深厚的友谊。突然有一天，威尔伯得知自己未来将会被做成熏肉火腿，它不想死，它爱这里的一切。于是，夏洛就帮助威尔伯让它活下去。夏洛在网上给威尔伯织了文字：“王牌猪”“了不起”“光彩照人”，令威尔伯在展览会上赢得了特别奖。威尔伯终于不用被做成熏肉火腿了。可是，夏洛的生命却走到了尽头……

我觉得夏洛不只是一只小小的蜘蛛、一个忠实的朋友，更是一位伟大的英雄。它为了救威尔伯付出了巨大的努力，直到耗尽生命。我很敬佩它帮助朋友从不求回报的精神。

这个故事让我懂得：就算是再小的生物也可能发出强大的力量，就像蜘蛛夏洛用自己的本领竟然救了一头猪。所以，无论你有多么弱小，只要努力就一定会成功，要相信自己才行!夏洛还让我明白了：我们要做为他人奉献而不求回报的人!

读完这本书，我不禁想起我的朋友们。友情，对我来说尤为重要，甚至高于亲情。我很庆幸我能有那么多好朋友陪在身边，即使没有威尔伯和夏洛直接那样伟大的奉献，我们的友情也丝毫不亚于它们之间！我很珍视我的朋友们，很珍惜我们在一起的日子。我很高兴在这样一个花一般的少年时期，能与他们为伴！尤其是，有她，她比我小六个月，却比我成熟很多，虽然好强的我口头上不愿意承认，但心里还是不得不承认，在她身边，有一种莫名其妙的安全感，她像个大姐姐一样宽容大方的包容着我的无知，我的幼稚，我的任性……

我不善于表达自己的情感，但心里深刻的明白着这份友情。人生之路上，有他们为伴，不枉此生！

朋友，是你在逆境中指引你走向光明的人；是你在黑暗中为你点燃蜡烛的人；是你即使在充满危险的世界里，也能让你放下戒备，卸下心房，完完全全信任的人！

《夏洛的网》让我对朋友有了新的认识，对“友情”二字有了更深刻的体会。夏洛的一声“再见”，伴随着曾经的蛛丝随风飘散，但它已在我心中，留下一张网……

那么，今天这个日子，于我，虽然是一年中的唯一，但终归不会圆满。《百年孤独》的布恩迪亚家族的每一个人，他们的人生全部由童年决定，某一幕某一瞬间，就已经影响到了他们这丰富而漫长的一生。走到最后，能忆起来的，也不过是那一瞬间的景象，只不过那一刻，已不带任何情感，就好像，那一刻一直跟在他身边，而他，才是一直迷失的人。

我希望我能不像他们一样，在生命的进程中，执着于最初的不圆满，一直迷失下去。

打开那颗心，拥抱这世间的好，做个注定不圆满，却满足幸福的人。

Anne is a distinctive girl. She had her own mind. Maybe in the views of others she is a naughty girl. Especially she has a quiet sister. Comparing with Margot she was not favorable. At the beginning her general appearance her character her manners were discussed from A to Z. But with the time going by she were becoming sensible. One must apply one’s reason to everything earning to obey to hold our tongue to help to be good to give in. Life has the great power to change us to adapt it. In addition Anne started afresh and tried to get to the bottom of it all. As she said we should examine the whole matter carefully ourselves and find out what is true and what is exaggerated. In our daily life we often meet arguments with parents. We can stick to the Anne’s principle. If parents are wrong we shall try first of all to make them alter their ideas and if we don’t succeed we shall stick to our own opinions and judgement. Although she lived in a small room she still had a brightful heart. She believed that it was spiring within her she felt that spring was awaking she felt it in her whole body and soul. And in the book she wrote and thought much of the time about things which very sensitive. For example she described a lot about the affair with Peter. It’s normal for a teenager. I think parents should read this book so they can regard this question correctly.

Anne said “One certainly could not call us rich now but all my hopes are pinned on after the war.” Now we are in the peaceful world hope is full of our life. So there is no reason putting off achieving dreams we should treasure everyone everything every moment that we have.

I believe that one of the factors that makes a piece of literature or even a movie a masterpiece is how well the reader can relate to the story. This is definitely a book everyone can relate to.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a literary masterpieces, written in 1876 by the famous author Mark Twain. Tom Sawyer is a mischievous young boy who lives in the small town on the Mississippi River called St. Petersburg. The story line is simple, the book reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in Tom Sawyers life.

Tom Sawyer seems to be the precursor of and the template for misfit kids such as Dennis the Menace, Malcolm in the Middle, and Calvin and Hobbs. What makes this story great is that Tom Sawyer represents everything that is great about childhood. The book is filled with Toms adventures playing pirates and war with his friend Joe Harper. Tom has a trusted friend, Huck Finn, who few of the adults approve of. The book is filled with ideas of how the world works, such as how pirates and robbers work, that are so innocent, they could only come from a child. It is a story filled with action, adventure, ingenious ideas, love, and schoolyard politics. The whole story is seemingly a complication of what people did or wish they did during their childhood.

The book is a little difficult to read at first. Personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. Other than referring to persons of African decent in derogatory terms (which Im sure uses terms even young children already know)， the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again, if just for a few hundred pages.

故事的主人公汤姆是个天真、活泼而又顽皮的典型美国少年。他和野孩子夏克，各干出了许多令人捧腹的妙事。像汤姆被罚粉刷围墙，竟施出诡计，不但使别的孩子心甘情愿代替他工作，还自动奉上谢礼。后来和夏克逃到荒岛去，人们以为他们淹死了，正在教堂为他们举行丧礼，而他们却躲在教堂的钟楼上偷听。这些顽皮的举动，虽然不能给我们做模范，但是，他为了正义，毅然地挺身出来作证人，拯救那无辜的罪犯沫夫彼得。并在顽皮之余，居然和夏克破获了一桩谋杀案，成为众人钦佩的小英雄。看来，汤姆也有值得我们学习的地方。

人总是会长大的，除了个儿长高了，身子强壮了以外，人的思想也在长。你对世界的看法不同了，懂事了，不再幼稚了。不过人是要越变越好才是。千万不能像历险记里的那个心狠手辣的坏蛋卓伊一样，他坏事做尽，人见人憎。但最后他还是恶有恶报，得到了一个活活饿死在山洞里的下场。

看完《汤姆索亚历险记》，我真羡慕汤姆能有如此有趣的经历。这本书让人看起来津津有味，甚至废寝忘食。我想，《汤姆索亚历险记》在你烦闷的时候或许能让你一笑解千愁。

我们的生活中离不开朋友，朋友就像一束阳光，在开心时陪伴着你，在困难时温暖着你。当我读到《夏洛的网》这本书时，对友谊有了更深的了解。

故事中的威尔伯是一只猪，他的命运就是成为熏肉火腿，可怜的他就要被人宰割了。就在这时，威尔伯的生命中出现了一个朋友——夏洛。看似渺小的夏洛却说：

我救你!于是，夏洛用自己的丝织出“王牌猪”三个字，使威尔伯的主人大吃一惊。哦，忘了介绍，夏洛，是一只蜘蛛。因此，威尔伯被当做一个奇迹送到了展览会上，暂时逃离了被宰割的命运。

然而，为了展览会上再次出现这个“奇迹”，夏洛最后拼劲全力，织出了“谦逊”，再一次帮助了她的朋友。

也因此，她再也没有力气回家，用最后一口气生下了她的孩子，自己的生命却走到了尽头。夏洛托威尔伯把自己的三个孩子带回家，悄悄说了“再见”就再也不动了。

读完这本书，我又难过又感动。夏洛用生命织成的网就是友情的网，这张网里充满爱和感动。他们的友情不是只有一起玩闹时候的欢笑，更有困难时候的帮助。我想悄悄的对夏洛说：我要向你一样，真诚的对待身边的每一位朋友!

秉笔多做“无情人”。理性，这点启示对于一个从事新闻传媒相关行业的人来说至关重要。不管是在现场还是通过其它渠道了解到一个重大事件，我们都要竭力去避免自己的文字情绪化。我们的职责是保证忠实的记录，而不是泄愤和施压。就像书中的小猪威尔伯生来就注定要任人宰割，很难说这不是怀特有意借指生活在社会底层的人们。但怀特没有那么做，他知道自己这个时候的使命不是去表达而是叙述。

没有一朵花的绽放是毫无意义的。俄国短篇小说大师契诃夫谈小说创作时说:“要是你在头一章里提到墙上挂着枪,那么在第二章或第三章就一定得开枪。如果不开,那枪就不必挂在那儿。”同样，在写文章的时候，也要做到照应和点题这两点，不浪费每一个字。这既是对文字的尊重，也是在力求用最短的篇幅去还原事件现场。

情到深处无怨尤。一篇文章不应该有煽动性，但要有能吸引读者阅读的点。让读者提问，带着好奇往下读。你不是直接给读者一个全景，而是借给他一个镜头一个视角，让读者在看文章的时候和你当时去探索和记录的过程重合，甚至有新的发现。动人的文章不用辞藻华丽情节起伏，每一个文字都是有灵魂的。

人有人格，想必文也有文格。那凡事认真，则文可立人，事事可平。
