The 15-Day Celebration of Chinese New Year

The first day of the Lunar New Year is the welcoming of the gods of the heavens and earth.Many people abstain from meat on the first day of the new year because it is believed that this will ensure long and happy lives for them.

On the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. They are extra kind to dogs and feed them well as it is believed that the second day is the birthday of all dogs.

The seventh day of the New Year is the day for farmers to display their produce. These farmers make a drink from seven types of vegetables to celebrate the occasion. The seventh day is also considered the birthday of human beings. Noodles are eaten to promote longevity and raw fish for success.

On the eighth day the Fujian people have another family reunion dinner, and at midnight they pray to Tian Gong, the God of Heaven.

The ninth day is to make offerings to the Jade Emperor.

The 10th through the 12th are days that friends and relatives should be invited for dinner. After so much rich food, on the 13th day you should have simple rice congee and mustard greens (choi sum) to cleanse the system.

The 14th day should be for preparations to celebrate the Lantern Festival which is to be held on the 15th night.

七七事变是日本帝国主义为实现它鲸吞中国的野心而蓄意制造出来的，是它全面侵华的开始。全面侵华，在中国建立殖民统治，是日本帝国主义长期推行的方针。日本早在明治维新时期，在确立近代天皇制的同时，迅速走上了扩张侵略的军国主义道路，并制定了以中国、朝鲜为主要侵略对象的所谓“大陆政策”。本世纪初叶，日本于日俄战争后取代俄国，在中国东北扩大殖民势力，屯驻关东军，设立殖民机构“南满铁路公司”，把东北作为对中国殖民扩张的基地。

1936年日本制定的总体战略计划——“国策基准”出笼后， 日本举行了一次“将官”演习，向参加演习的将官交代了全面发动侵华战争的战争部署。此后，日本增兵中国东北，抽调精锐部队关东军进驻平津一带，频繁举行军事演习进行挑衅，伺机挑起战争。1937年7月3日，关东军参谋长东条英机向日本政府提议立即给中国以打击，随即于7月7日发动了七·七事变。7月9日，中日双方交战部队曾达成口头停火协议。但同时，日本乘机从中国东北和朝鲜抽调2万多军队和百余架飞机投入华北地区。7月17日，日本陆军参谋本部制定了《在华北行使兵力时对华战争指导纲要》，日本政府决定动员40万兵力，妄图用武力灭亡中国。 七七事变的第二天，中共中央通电全国，号召中国军民团结起来，共同抵抗日本侵略者。

全国各族各界人民热烈响应，抗日救亡运动空前高涨。在这种形势下，蒋介石于7月17日在庐山发表谈话，宣布对日作战。中国抗日战争作为世界反法西斯战争的重要组成部分，抗击和牵制了日本陆军总兵力的三分之二以上，中国军民伤亡达3500多万人。经过8年的浴血奋战，中国人民终于取得了抗日战争的伟大胜利，也为世界反法西斯战争的胜利作出了不可磨灭的贡献。1945年8月15日，日本宣布无条件投降。9月2日，日本在投降书上签字。

刚走出校门几步，他便忽然转身对我说：“等一下我，我爸来了。”我以为他又是在搞恶作剧，也没多想，径直向前跑去。“跑什么啊!”我听见他在后面的呼喊声，我停下了脚步，回头一看，他竟然……只见他手里拿着雨伞，肩上背着双肩包，掀开了一道道雨伞向我奔来。“你……跑……跑什么呀!我向我爸要了雨伞，让他先回去了，我送你回家。”我感到不可思议，平时看似麻木不仁的他竟会如此乐于助人。

一路上，他依然保持着那一贯的本色，乐此不疲的为我讲述他那一个个“伟大”的恶作剧，我也只得不厌其烦的听着。

不知不觉中，我们已经到了他家的门口，我本打算就此作别，可他却丝毫没有停下来的意愿，硬是生拉硬拽的把我送回了家。

我站在门口，透过斜织的窗帘，我又一次看到了他的笑容。这笑容之中，全然没了之前的狡黠，反而多了一份真诚与朴实。

“谢谢”，一向讨厌他的我竟会感谢他。“不用谢”他便说边用两根手指在头顶回了一个回礼，我也笑了。

第二天上学时，他没有到校。听同学说，他是因淋雨发烧才请假在家的。下午，我去他家看望了他，并帮他补习功课，从来不热衷于学习的他却在那天下午有了极高的学习兴致。
