为期十天的军训已经结束了，不管是苦也好，累也好，我们也都坚持下来了。今天上午的阅兵式已经展现了同学们的训练成果。

(一)责任高地。大学肩负着为经济社会发展培养人才、创新知识和服务社会的重要责任。大学是人类文明的高地，也是人类近现代文明的发源地。意大利在文艺复兴之前有博罗尼亚大学;英国先有牛津、剑桥，后才有其崛起;德国19世纪末20世纪初能够成为世界科技文化的中心，跟柏林大学的建立有很大的关系;美国是先有哈佛，后有国家。美国之所以有今天，我们表面上看到是它强大的经济、军事、政治，实际上支撑它的是大学，是它强大的教育系统。我国提出“科教兴国”的发展战略。温总理在今年7月召开的全国教育工作会议上提出：强国先强教，强国必强教。蔡元培则早就说过，要看明日之社会，先看今天之校园。

大学的主要责任，也是教师的天职：就是培养人才，培养最后超过老师的人才。教师的职责，就是引导和帮助学生站在自己的肩膀上，承前启后，继往开来，超越自己，实现文化的传承、创新和发展。只有这样，大学才能卓尔不群，长盛不衰，不断为经济社会发展培养人才、建树新风。

大学生的天职就是学习，就是努力成为超越老师的学生，更好地服务国家需要和民族伟大复兴。

(二)人才高地。大学者，囊括大典，网罗众家。大学是人才最为密集的地方，也是人才成长的摇篮。哥伦比亚大学校园里有不少雕塑，其中有一尊雕塑，给我留下非常深刻的印象。这尊雕塑就是哥大赖文森广场(RevsonPlaza)的“钢丝上的行走者”(TightropeWalker)。这个雕塑有两个人，其中一个人走在钢丝上，另一个人站在他肩上。我觉得，如果把下面那个人看作教师，上面那个人当作学生，那么这个雕塑便体现了大学教育的理想：培养超越老师的学生。

培养超越老师的学生，其实也是中国大学的理想和传统。由鲁迅亲自设计的北京大学校徽与哥大的上述雕塑有异曲同工之义。它主要由“北大”这两个字用篆书构成，下面一个“大”字，像一个人，表示教师;上面是“北”字，像两个人，表示学生。两个学生背靠背，表示他们是和而不同的君子，具有独立人格，只追求真理，不互相依附，不拉关系;他们站在教师肩膀上，表示学生在老师的无私教导和帮助下站得更高，看得更远，更有作为;这三个人还构成了一种多元对话的格局，体现了一种教学相长的师生关系。所以，北大校徽是最能体现大学理想和教育精神的。孔子早在二千多年前就曾发出“后生可畏，焉知来者之不如今也?”的感叹，认为年轻学子是值得敬畏的，怎能断定他们将来赶不上老师呢?韩愈在《师说》中讲到，“弟子不必不如师，师不必贤于弟子。”陶行知则说：“教师的成功是创造出值得自己崇拜的人，先生之最大的快乐，是创造出值得自己崇拜的学生。”这都实际上寄托了培育超过教师的学生的教育理想。

令人欣慰的是，在湛江师范学院漫长的发展历史当中，曾经涌现众多卓越人才，他们都是以天下为己任的杰出代表。如学校前身——雷阳书院，曾为广东六大书院之一。它的三位著名山长(古时称校长为山长)：陈瑸、陈昌齐、陈乔森。也就是我们说的“三陈”。陈瑸、陈昌齐均为进士;陈乔森为咸丰年间举人，被誉为“岭南才子”。他们做官清正廉洁，勤政爱民，功勋卓著;做学问则勤谨笃实，以身垂范，学者楷模。还有谭平山，曾任雷州中学校长，是广东党组织最早创始人，时有“南谭北李(李大钊)中陈(陈独秀)”之誉。还有广东农民运动著名领导人黄学增、南路优秀女共产党员欧汝颖、粤桂边区纵队副司令员唐才猷等杰出代表。

湛师培育过不少超过老师的优秀学生。如今天坐在主席台的一些教授，就毕业于本校的前身雷州师专，当时学校一个教授也没有。不少毕业生考上北大、复旦、人大、南大、北师大、中大等名校的研究生。仅今年就有137名毕业生考上研究生。

(三)精神高地。梁英书记说过，大学不仅要有大楼、大树，还要有大师、大气。从最高境界上来说，真正的大学，是无形的大学，是精神的大学，是能凝聚和产生大师的大学。有了高远的精神境界，有了一流的教师，哪怕没有高楼大厦，也可能成为一所高水平大学。所以，大学首先要有高远的精神境界，成为精神高地。才能使大学不仅仅停留在“形”和“体”的层面，而进入“神”和“灵”的境界。在这一精神高地上，我们探索人类精神生产、传承和创新的秘密，与人类最杰出的大脑和最高尚动人的灵魂相遇，争取那熠熠光辉，照亮自己的人生，然后把这些秘密和光辉与他人分享，传承发扬下去。

同学们考上湛师，不必自卑。家庭经济贫困，也不必自卑。大学是追求真理、崇尚学术的精神高地。在这里，不是比官大，也不是比钱多，而是比谁的志气大、用功多、学问高。在这里，过的需要艰苦付出的寂寞生活。洪堡说过，寂寞是大学精神的特质之一。易卜生则认为：“世界上最有力量的人是最孤独的人。”在大学高地上，可以了望世界，展望未来，通过与高人接触，知彼而知己，确立自己的人生使命，为做最好的自己奠基铺路。这是很幸运的。正如奥地利作家斯蒂芬•茨威格所说：“一个人生命中最大的幸运，莫过于在他人生中途，即年富力强时发现自己生活的使命。”站在这一高地上的人们，可以让一切都变得意义非凡。甚至连贫穷都拥有珍贵的价值。与青春和智慧相比，金钱、地位、美酒、佳肴都微不足道。在这一高地上，即使身无分文，也可以孕育希望!

二、立足大学高地，努力成为超过老师的学生

如何努力成为超过老师的学生?我以为，树立“责任以行，能力为重，创新是魂”的理念，并付诸于行动是关键所在。

(一)责任以行

社会学家戴维斯就曾说过，“放弃了自己的责任，就意味着放弃了自身在这个社会中更好的生存机会。”我站在这个讲台，最真切的感受，除了迎新的喜悦，更多的是一种责任。面对众多渴望求知、立志成才的学生，我深感作为一名校长的责任之重。同学们上大学，要学的东西很多，首先应该学会负责，成为一名负责任的人。每个人都要对自己和亲朋负责、对工作和单位负责、对国家和民族负责。责任以行，就是永不放弃自己做人、做事、做学问的责任。

责任以行，也意味着宽容和担当。同学们从今天起就成为湛师大家庭的正式一员。对学校的平安和谐、创新发展都负有不可推卸的责任，有责任和义务协助学校克服各种困难，共同推动学校发展。我曾邀请全国劳模、韶钢首席技术专家罗东元给大学生作讲座，他说，“上苍安排每个人都有一次做人的机会，就要尽心地体验做人的责任，享受其过程。要热爱工作、享受工作。我在工作中遇到太多问题，有时逼得走投无路，但我认为，这时候离问题解决就不远了。什么叫成功?成功在于坚持，成功就是尽自己最大的努力，尽自己最大的责任，积累能量，然后集中释放出来。”

我校师生中也有很多“责任以行”的榜样。1935年，雷州省立师范学校时期的吴炳宋校长，就把教育事业与国家命运联系起来，明确指出“民族之兴亡，基于教育之盛衰”，希望“师范教育普及高雷，泽流所被，漫衍全粤”。我前天在新生接待现场，遇到送儿子来报到的一家人，爷爷、父母和儿子四人。爷爷、父母亲都是中小学的教师，父亲还是校长。爷爷、父亲都曾是湛师的学生，现在儿子也成为湛师的学生。我认为这在某种程度上可以看作是这个家庭对湛师的一种情怀和对教育的一份责任。法政学院的庞天佑教授，大年三十也一如平日，坚持读书搞研究;化学院的高利军博士，2008年来校工作以来，不曾回过家乡，不论寒暑假还是星期六日，几乎天天待在实验室搞研究，32岁就拿到了国家自然科学基金课题。还有郑光华老教师、谭笑老教师，我们经常可以看到他们在校园里与学生交谈辅导的身影，无私地把自己的时间、生命智慧奉献给学生。还有今天作为校友代表发言的附中党总支书记、特级教师梁哲同志，等等。正是有这些对事业、对学生高度负责的老师，湛师才能培养出许多优秀的学子。

(二)能力为重

一个人要真正有所担当，真正能负起责任，就必须有能力，即要有丰富的知识和过硬的本领。这里的“能力”，是一个建立在扎实的知识基础上的“能力群”。包含学习能力、思考能力、实践能力、组织能力和创新能力等。不同的行业所要求的能力是不一样的，不同的专业培养的能力规格也有所不同。同学们进入大学，最重要的是不能放松学习、不能放松思考、不能放松行动。能力的形成靠学习和实践积累。那应该如何学习呢?

1、要学会在“三个世界”里学习

一是书本世界。通过阅读书籍等增长知识，尤其要精读经典名著。二是经验世界。要培养能力，就要主动实践、积极锻炼。三是虚拟世界。现在是网络时代、E时代，网络上有海量的资讯，为我们学习提供了很多材料。网络已经成为我们学习生活的非常重要的部分，影响着我们的认知方式和知识结构。我们要充分利用现代信息技术的便利来促进学习和研究。

2、要掌握三种学习方式

自主学习。真正的教育必然是自我教育。与中学相比，大学提供了更多的自由与选择的空间。这里所强调的是“我要学”，而不是“要我学”。同学们要从被动学习转变自主学习;要学会综合分析、独立思考，学会选择，有所守有所放，有所为有所不为。一味追求热点或时髦，人会失去自我和尊严。不要让你的大脑成为他人思想的“跑马场”。

合作学习。“独学而无友，则孤陋而寡闻。”今天，单打独斗已难以适合社会和工作的要求。同学们来自全国各地，有着不同的成长背景、性格特点、思维方式和行为方式等，这是一笔丰厚的精神文化资源。同学们要充分发掘和利用自己同伴的精神文化资源，互相学习、合作学习，提高学习效益，培养合作共事的能力。

体验学习。实践出真知。体验的过程是学生掌握知识、生成能力，学会思考，学会与经验世界接触的一个综合过程，是培养动手能力和创新能力的一个不可或缺的环节。做科学实验、参加专业社团活动、参加社会实践活动、专业实习等，都是体验学习。

以上三种学习方式，加起来便是：读万卷书，行万里路，交八方友。

3、要把握三个重点进行学习

一是做人、做事、做学问的基础。著名教育家南国农先生给我们的深刻启示是，做人，对己而言，要做第一流的人物。做最好的自己。要多读书、读好书、勤读书，打出扎实的理论基础，优化知识结构;对他人多一点尊重和宽容，少一点苛求责备;对社会多一点奉献，少一点索取。第二个重点是“前沿”。我们要了解理论尤其是实践前沿的新成果、新技术和新手段。不断更新知识、掌握新技术。第三个重点就是“特色”。要有特长，要扬长避短，个性发展，这样才可能有创新。

(三)创新为魂

建设创新型国家，需要创新型人才。同学们要以一种创新的精神、研究的态度和负责的行动，不断为家庭、母校、社会和祖国奉献力量和智慧。当前，学校提出建设鲜明特色的高水平师范院校的发展新目标，判断学校是否高水平的一个很重要的表征，就是其培养的学生是否有创新精神、出色的能力和卓越的成就。

创新是一个探索未知的艰辛却又有趣味的过程，需要勤奋和专一。要把创新作为自己做事、做学问的价值取向和工作习惯。

作为院长，我将与同事们一起，致力于为学生提供更多的学习机会和资源。如我们将筹建教师教育创新班，对一批立志从教、学习优秀的学生进行重点培养;我们着力构筑现代教育技术高地，为同学在虚拟世界里学习提供平台;筹建教育研究院，并以此为平台吸引教育名家和中小学的优秀校长、特级教师来校讲学辅导，让同学们与名家名师近距离接触，了解最前沿的思想和信息;创造更多的机会让同学们到国内外进行体验学习，拓展专业视野，增长专业知识和能力，等等。让你们成为负责任、有能力、能创新的高素质应用型人才。

In my understanding, if we refer to an ideal college life as a formal western dinner, then a high GPA, that is, Grade Point Average, should be the main course, while an active part in

activities, together with associations, means the appetizer. Some romances, of course, play the role as desserts. They are the 3 key elements for an ideal college life.

Those, however, are not what college life is all about. As we all know, college is wildly different from middle school. It connects not only adolescence to adulthood, but also the ivory tower to the real society. 这是光明的一面：首先我的大学生活，我的大学先进设备和师资队伍强大。有一个先进的图书馆，拥有各类图书。所以我们可以获得很多知识，我的大学。其次，各种讲座在校园。我们可以学到很多知识，有趣的是。第三，我的校园生活丰富多彩。如运动会，演讲比赛，不同的社交聚会和舞蹈各方提供机会交朋友。更重要的是，我的宿舍生活是非常和谐。宿舍生活是非常重要的我的大学生活。一方面，我们可以有一个良好的休息，我们的心投入研究。另一方面，我们将有一个好心情，享受在一起。

The summer holiday is going to the end. I am happy in the holiday, because

I do a lot of things. Now, the new term is coming, so I must make a plan for it.

In the new term, I must work harder. I did not do very well in the last term.

Therefore, I want to make progress in the new term. Besides, I want to do some

more readings. Books are the best resources to get knowledge. So I want to make

good use of books to improve myself. Finally, do exercise regularly. A healthy

body is the basic of other things. I must take part in exercise to keep healthy.

And doing exercise makes me relaxed and happy. I hope all my plans can come true

in the new term.

The environmental pollution is worse and worse today. Many trees are cut

down, and water and air are polluted. As a student I try to have a low-carbon

life to save energy and reduce pollution.Firstly, I often walk to school. It can

reduce air pollution. Secondly, I always turn off the lights and fans when

leaving the classroom.

Thirdly, I always make full use of paper and other school things and never

waste water.

I wish more students to join me and make the earth more and more

beautiful.

在这个希望的季节，我结束了我的高中时间，同时又迎来了我的大学时间，我怀着一份激动而又迷茫的心情来到了这个校园。

在入学的四天里，我们计算机学院的学生接受了入学教育，在各位老师的讲解中，我了解了许多心中不明白的问题，首先在第一堂课中，我感受到这是一所拥有严格而又完善制度的校园，对于家庭贫困、学习优异的学生，校园都有帮助和鼓励，这给了我们努力学习，奋发向上的动力，同时对于违反校园规定的学生又有很严格的处分，这种奖罚分明的制度，可以很好的规范学生的一言一行。

在老师的讲课中我感到受益匪浅，最让我铭记的是：大学的成功=身心健康+专业知识和职业技能+社会经验+职业化心理素质和团队意识+旺盛的人生成就欲望，连老师是一个很成功的人，对他的钦佩由心而发，连老师有问我们“你为什么而活着”我们都是有责任心的人，都是存希望的人，为了明天得更好我们努力、怀有希望的活着。

每一位老师都是经历过许许多多风雨的前辈，他们的话里都有许多的人生的真谛、从他们的话中我收获了许多努力都得不来的知识。

我们应该做一位自强不息，追求卓跃的大学生，在这个校园的时间我们都应该有一个很好的人生规划，塑造完美的时间价值观，在社会实践和学习过程中总结经验，更为以后的学习和进入社会打好坚实的基础。

Tradition says Pilgrim settlers from England celebrated the first

thanksgiving in sixteen twenty-one. There is evidence that settlers in other

parts of America held earlier thanksgiving celebrations. But the Pilgrims

thanksgiving story is the most popular.

The Pilgrims were religious dissidents who fled oppression in England. They

went first to the Netherlands. Then they left that country to establish a colony

in North America. The Pilgrims landed in sixteen twenty in what later became

known as Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Their voyage across the Atlantic Ocean was difficult. Their first months in

America were difficult, too. About one hundred Pilgrims landed just as autumn

was turning to winter. During the cold months that followed, about half of them

died.

many senior school students (高中生) are faced with the headache choice between big universities and small ones。 apart from different requirements， each has advantages and disadvantages。

if you ask me what my preference is， my answer is that i would like to go to a big university。 a big university attracts me for sound reasons。 more qualified teaching staff， higher aims and better conditions are helpful to students studying there。 what is more， various lectures organized by more colleges (大学里的学院) and departments make students in different majors form all round opinions on things。 and diverse activities enrich students life after school。 additionally， a big garden campus provides a satisfying environment for studying and living for four or more years。

though more students might mean more competitions， though i might be a small fish in a big pond， i will be motivated to work harder。 in a big university， i believe， my visions will be broadened， and my college life will be a more fruitful and colourful one。 in word， i am inclined (倾向于) to study in a big university。

As a sophomore, I am feeling the time flies. Recalling about the past one year, so many thoughts are flooding in my mind. At this time, I just can’t tell my real idea. The memory is just like so fresh, and all the things happened yesterday!

When first day I came to University, I really feel that the school is very good, but at the first sight of the dormitory, something disappointing come up to me! The condition of the dormitory is really very poor with only one room, no lavatory! I saw something sad in my father’s eyes, maybe that time he thought of the poor condition! So with a big smile on my face, I told my father” it doesn’t matter, Dad. In this kind of condition, I will get myself better!” My father felt better. But when he was coming back, seeing his back, I just wanted to cry! I felt in this city I was just isolated, from that time, I said to myself, “ you have no others who can help you here, just depend on yourself”

And then I came to my dormitory 303. I considered that I would spend four years here (in fact I moved to another one year later) and my dorm mates are all there. Most of them came from Sichuan and they were chatting with a happy voice, but I can’t understand them! Again, I felt myself isolated! I hated that kind of feeling, and then I said to hello to them! To my surprise they are very friendly to me and warm-hearted! I no longer felt afraid. And I got along well with them. But at the first night here, I burst out to tears for that I was missing my family. I don’t know why. Everyday when I was at home, I was just eager to go to school, to experience the wonderful college life but when coming here, I am just eager to go back! It’s quite strange though, you must know this kind of feeling!

Just spending about 2 days here, we were on our way to military train. To us, it’s a fresh train and a kind of experience to know the life between the classmates. But to me, I was nervous but excited. This was my first and precious train life because before going to school I have been staying with my family. So, you know, it’s just this kind of feeling I can’t convey it clearly! The train life is impressive on everybody; we had a lot of activities, for example giving a speech on a stage or singing together or playing basketball. At that time, I felt myself so little among them. All of them have a special talent but not me. I admired them but meanwhile jealousy. Why don’t I have this kind of talent? Am I stupid? I always said to myself. So that time I was also very ambitious, just eager to catch up with them. Except the classmates, the trainer in our team also left a deep impression on me! He was not very handsome and very kind. Just because of his kindness results in my laughter when training. He always said to me that I should be serious in the team but I didn’t listen to him. So after a long time, when investigating the training result, I gave them a disappointing answer. The highest trainer sent me to clean the toilet, although, it didn’t means insulting to my dignity, but I was really sad about myself and my heart was hurt. That was a small thing but told me that I need to be serious to one thing. And unhappiness passed, the happy and funny time recalled me that folding the blanket. Yeah, it’s really very funny. Most of us had never folded the blanket and naturally we can’t accomplish the task well. When the monitor came, we pleased him to help us to fold the blanket. To our expect, we managed to persuade the monitor. After the monitor finished the task for me. I dared not to touch the blanket again and just used the clothes instead of the blanket. Of course, I felt very cold in deep night, so to my instinct, I crashed into my classmate’s blanket. And we were scratching the single blanket fiercely, just like a war.
