The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is called the "Ten-thousand-Ii Great Wall" in Chinese.In fact, its more than 6000 kilometres long. It winds its way from west to east, across deserts, over mountains, through valleys till at last it reaches the sea. It is one of the wonders of the world.

The Great Wall has a history of over twenty centuries.The first part of it was built during the Spring and Autumn Period. During the Warring States Period, more walls were put up to defend the borders of the different kingdoms. It was during the Qin Dynasty that the kingdom of Qin united the different parts into one empire. To keep the enemy out of his empire, Emperor Qin Shi Huang had all the walls joined up.Thus, the Great Wall came into being.

The Great Wall is wide enough at the top for five horses or ten men to walk side by side. Along the wall are watchtow-ers, where soldiers used to keep watch. Fires were lit on the the towers as a warning when the enemy came.

It was very difficult to build such a wall in the ancient days without any modern machines. All the work was done by hand. Thousands of men died and were buried under the wall they built. The Great Wall was made not only of stone and earth, but of the flesh and blood of millions of men.

Today the Great Wall has become a place of interest not only to the Chinese but to people from all over the world.Many of them have come to know the famous Chinese saying: "He who does not reach the Great Wall is not a true man."

爷爷，其实你并无需担心，因是我爱你并爱奶奶爱得更深。什么心里话都愿意跟你说，当我欢乐时，我告诉你我的快乐，当我忧伤时，我向你倾诉我的委屈。当我生气不快乐时，你总会拿出一小束丁香花放在我眼前，笑着对我说：“乖孙女，你看，丁香花多美啊，你再不开心，丁香花要笑你的哦！”我笑了。爷爷一直都是我的听众。我与他同欢乐。小时侯，我觉得爷爷的笑只为我一人绽放，他对别人都很严肃，包括自己的儿女与我的哥哥，只有与我在一起，他才会露出灿烂的笑容。

小时侯，我总喜欢依偎在爷爷的怀里，他给我讲故事，我静静的听着，他给我讲笑话，我们一同哈哈大笑……

当爷爷退休后，爷爷呆在家中，在自家的院子种了许多他的最爱——丁香花。他精心的照料它们，仿佛爷爷的喜怒哀乐与小花朵心心相通。爷爷喜欢与我一起照料小花，我们还给它们起了名字，这盆“幸福之花”，那盆“守护之花”，另一盆……至于为什么，只有我两知道。

再大些，爷爷不再搂着我，而是我两手牵手年，谈我的人生，我的理想；爷爷告诉我他的生活经历，辩论着爷爷与我学习的种种不同。

幸福的时光总是短暂的，回想起往日的种种，我不禁潸然泪下。爷爷去世的那一天，丁香花也一盆接一盆的凋落，花儿啊，你们也在为爷爷的“不辞而别”而伤心落泪吗？

手捧着丁香花，站在爷爷的坟前，泪水湿透了我的脸颊，看者爷爷坟前的那盆丁香花开得如此旺盛，那么美丽，“爷爷，你在那个世界一定很快乐把！”我久久伫立在爷爷的坟前，任凭风吹乱了我的发丝……

我仰望天空，擦干泪水，笑了，对天空大声呼唤“爷爷，你一定要幸福！”

秋天的脚步悄悄地，悄悄地，她笑着走来。她唱起了歌儿，带来了丰收的繁荣，把我们的眼睛填得满满的，把我们的心灌地醉醉的，秋天是个多彩的季节，让我们一起寻找吧!

小兔乖乖蹦蹦跳跳地走在乡间的小路上，突然，乖乖被什么东西绊了一脚。原来是一堆落叶，呀!落叶有红的、黄的、半红半黄的……瞧，一片片落叶五彩缤纷，就像一群群美丽的蝴蝶在翩翩起舞，真美呀!落叶是秋的气息，秋是多彩的，秋是美美的。

小熊笨笨迈着笨重的脚步走在森林大道上，“嗯，真香!”笨笨自言自语地说：“可能是桂花和菊花。”可不，森林中开满了桂花、菊花。“原来菊花不止一种颜色呀!”笨笨高兴地说。桂花，菊花都是秋的气息，秋实香香的。

小鸭聪聪一摇一摆地走在稻田里，稻子杆上挂满了谷粒，谷粒丰厚饱满，稻子杆被谷粒压得弯下了腰，像在向我们鞠躬。小鸟飞飞扑棱着翅膀飞进果园。果园里，梨树上结满了梨子，桃树上结满了桃子，苹果树上结满了苹果……果子、稻谷也都是秋的气息，秋是甜甜的。

秋姑娘随着绵绵的秋雨，悄悄地、轻轻地、柔柔地来了，带来了欢笑，带来了丰收的喜悦。秋是美美的、香香的、甜甜的，秋天的气息让人陶醉，我爱秋天。

Yesterday, my parents were not home. And I had to stay at home by myself for one day and one night. I was very happy at first, because there wouldnt be anyone criticizes my behavior. I can do whatever I want. But later I felt desperate. There was nobody cook for me, asked me to do things or criticized me. I felt empty and desperate as the house is only me. When the night fell, I was afraid. The computer games or the cartoons couldn’t attract my attention. I hate living alone.

妈妈好像看穿了我的心思，走过来对我说：“你是不是想学乒乓球?”我心想：那么难，还是不学了吧。可是又转念一想：我还没尝试怎么知道不会呢?那就试试吧。于是妈妈给我报名了乒乓球课。

终于盼到了乒乓球班开课的那天。我怀着好奇又忐忑的心情走进教室，看到两个大姐姐正在对打乒乓球。她们打得热血沸腾，不分上下。乒乓球就像一支白色的箭在她们的球拍之间窜，快得就像一阵风吹过。两位大姐姐打的球都百发百中，没有一丝差错。看着她们，我想想我自己，连接一个球都接不住，怎么百发百中呢?我紧张的心情就像那此起彼伏的波浪，忐忑不安。又像一只小鹿在踢蹬我的心，急得团团转。

就在我快要放弃时，我想到了美国作家爱默生的名言：“自信是成功的第一秘诀”。于是，我又鼓起了勇气。我走到乒乓球桌前，开始练习发球。可是，命运女神好像在跟我开玩笑：发了第一个球，没过网;第二个打偏了;第三个，出界了。

就在这时，老师走过来对我说：“加油，乒乓球不能放太高，要低一点。乒乓球拍偏上一点，不然会打偏的。”听了这些话，我好像在黑暗中找到了光明，依据老师的话，打起精神，认真练习。终于，我找到了感觉。每天认真地练习。一天，两天，三天我终于也像那些大姐姐们一样百发百中了。老师向我投来了赞扬的眼光。

从这件事中，我深深地体会到：“失败了你可能会失望;但如果不去尝试，那么你注定要失败!”

从一个起点开始，终究会到达一个终点;而这个终点，亦是一个新的起点。

清晨，天空刚刚露出鱼肚白时。在这一天的起点，我跟随着太阳，站在黄山脚下，站在这趟旅程的起点。我仰头，瞭望着那云雾缭绕的山巅，瞭望着我将会到达的终点。“起程吧，”我默默地对自己说，“走向山巅，走向终点，去看看，那不一样的风景。”

我踏上眼前的这条布满了青苔的石板小道，青苔上，似乎还挂着一些晶莹闪烁的露珠。小道旁遍布着笔直的青松，那墨绿色，仿佛是毛笔蘸足了浓墨挥洒而出的，向山顶蔓延着。

晨雾渐渐散了，阳光也更足了。越向上走，风景便越发的奇特。奇松在这里生长，怪石在这里陈列。石阶路不愿规规矩矩地趴在那里了，石阶立了起来，向前看，他如腾飞的巨龙一般，直冲云霄;向后看，脚下的石阶似乎是悬空立着的。

从这山腰处可以看到两旁的峭壁上，是各种奇形怪状的岩石。而松树，却弯弯曲曲的斜插在石缝中。遒劲的根茎穿过岩石，裸露在空气中，如同老人的手，抓紧了石块，永不放松。苍劲有力的枝干外包裹着一层灰褐色的，生满了树瘤与皲裂的树皮，如同饱经风霜的老人的皮肤，那上面布满了褶皱与凸起的经脉，只有经历了日日夜夜的风吹雨打，才能锤炼出来这样刚韧的茎干。即使脚下的岩石缺少它们所需的土壤与水分，他们依旧在努力，努力活下来，努力生长的更加强壮。

一轮红日渐渐西垂，这一天的终点就快到来了，我也即将走上这趟旅程的终点——山巅。

踏上山巅的这一刻，我被震撼了。这里没有什么树木、花草，甚至都没有别的杂乱的石块，只有一块巨大的、平滑的岩石。站在这里，眼前没有别的什么，只有远至天边的云海和一轮垂在天边的夕阳。白色的云海被映红了，淡蓝的天空也被映红了，这里除了红色，就是白色，已经让人分不清哪里是天哪里是云了，空旷的似乎只剩下自己一人。

重新走到这条小路的尽头，向下看这条小路，曲曲折折，又好像没有尽头一般。从这里再下去，这个终点又是一个新的起点，那曾经的起点，又将会变成一个终点。

北京是我们国家的首都，有着悠久的历史和灿烂的文化，也是我心向往之的地方。今年暑假，我终于如愿以偿，去北京游览了一周。我去了天安门、颐和园、故宫好玩的地方数不胜数，不过最令我难忘的还是登长城了。

我站在山脚下，往上看，长城像一条矫健的巨龙，蜿蜒曲折，蟠伏在崇山峻岭之上，气势磅礴，雄伟壮观，真是独一无二，举世无双。

在一片赞叹声中，我们开始登长城了。一开始，我信心满满，觉得不到半个小时就能爬到最高峰。我健步如飞，一转眼，就把爸爸妈妈甩到后面去了。心里正得意时，到了第二个烽火台，我往前看，台阶一下变得十分陡峭，也非常难爬了，我有点儿灰心，爬起来速度也变慢了。

没爬到多远就累得气喘吁吁，我手脚并用，好不容易爬到了第三个烽火台。我一屁股坐到地上，靠着砖墙休息。不一会儿，爸爸妈妈就追上来了，爸爸说：登高可不能凭蛮力，要匀速前进，再远的路也远不过人的脚，只要坚持，就一定能到最高峰。

我相信，你一定行的，加油!“听了爸爸的鼓励，我振奋精神，继续坚定地往上爬。虽然脚还是很疼，腿还是很酸，汗还是在不停地流，但感觉没那么累了。不知不觉，我竟然爬到最高峰了。我站在最高峰往下看，行人像一只只小蚂蚁，好玩极了。

长城边上的树木郁郁葱葱，那翠绿的颜色，明亮的照耀着我们，仿佛每一片绿叶都有一个新的生命在颤动，那漫山遍野的.大树远远看去，真让人心旷神怡。

这次登长城，不但让我领略了祖国的大好河山，体会到我们祖先的智慧和伟大，感受到作为炎黄子孙的骄傲和自豪，也让我明白了一个道理：只要坚持，就一定会成功。

一年有四个季节.它们是春天，夏天，秋天和冬天。

Springis warm and sunny. In spring days, everything in our nature is green, so we cango out to release ourselves and breathe the fresh air. I think its a good wayto enjoy our beautiful nature.

春天是温暖又阳光灿烂的。在春天，自然界中的一切都是绿色的，所以我们可以释放自己，呼吸新鲜空气。我认为这是享受美丽的大自然的一种很好的方式。

Summeris hot and rainy, but summer is the best season for entertainment, because wecan go swimming in the sea and enjoy the beautiful sunshine on the beach. Itmust be very interesting.

夏季炎热多雨，但夏季是休闲娱乐的最佳季节，因为我们可以在海里游泳，在沙滩上享受美丽的阳光。那肯定很有趣。

Autumnis very cool and comfortable, and it is also the best season for harvest. Inautumn days, the farmers are busy in their fields. If we had a chance, we couldgo to the countryside and pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables.

秋天很凉爽舒适，也是收获的最好季节。秋天的时候，农民们在他们的田野里忙碌。如果我们有机会，我们可以去乡下摘一些新鲜的水果和蔬菜。

Winteris very cold and freezing. In winter, our world is covered with white snow, sowe can either make snowmen or fight with snow. And we can also enjoy thebeautiful ice lanterns in Harbin. But I prefer to go to Sanya during that time.As its on Hainan Island, the weather is always so temperate. Even in December,I can still enjoy the green palm trees, the beautiful sea, the sunny beach andthe blue sky. Maybe I can find endless pleasure there.

冬天很冷，很冰。冬天，我们整个世界都被雪覆盖了，所以我们可以堆雪人或者打雪仗。我们还可以欣赏哈尔滨的美丽的冰灯。但我更喜欢在那段时间去三亚。因为它是在海南岛，天气总是很温和。即使是在十二月，我仍然可以享受绿色的棕榈树，美丽的大海，阳光明媚的沙滩和蔚蓝的天空。也许我可以在那里找到无穷的乐趣。
