It was a hot day during my summer holidays in 2003. My mother and I got on the bus which would take us to the village where my grandma lived. It was so hot that I felt very thirsty. It took us one more hour to get there. When we walked into the house, Grandma was busy preparing lunch in the kitchen. 读书是我的爱好。读书时，我可以得到很多的快乐。当我有空时，我经常读一些名著。书是我最好的朋友，它们总是好好陪着我。他们给了我力量。通过阅读，我开阔了视野也让我的心变宽了。通过阅读，我变得越来越知识渊博。

My favorite books are Readers and VOA. Readers cover the knowledge of culture, literature, and history, so I can benefit a lot by reading it. VOA can let me know the foreign countries better. Thanks to VOA, my oral English is improving day by day.

My Favourite Festival

There are many traditional festivals in China. My favourite festival is the Spring Festival. It is a very important festival for Chinese. Before the festival, people will go to visit their relatives and friends. They usually have a big dinner together and give best wishes to each other. Most children in China love this festival because they can play fireworks and lucky money from their parents and relatives.
