I am twenty-three years old and have an honors degree in Botany from Bath University. Since leaving university I have been working in a research laboratory but my contract comes to an end in six weeks. I would particularly like to join the expedition for the opportunity it would give me to study the plant life of the area.

I enjoy several outdoor activities including rowing and rock climbing and I consider myself to be both fit and healthy enough to undertake such an expedition.

I think there are the following reasons thatmake Christmas popular in China. First, it’s a western holiday and it’s new toChinese. On Christmas morning, the children wake up very early. Some even turn on the light at two oclock, and most of them are awake by six oclock, and the young ones play while the dinner is prepared. 我们又来到一片绿油油地方，我说：“妈妈，这个是荆芥吗？”话音刚落，那俩讨厌的姐弟俩又开始嘲笑起来了，他俩哈哈哈大笑，说：“那是芝麻啊。”妈妈怕我和妹妹伤心，然后就说：“你们俩呀别再笑她俩了，她俩呀，就像“银环”第一次下乡一样，哪见过这些东西呀！”妈妈的话音刚落，我就问：“妈妈，银环是谁呀？”妈妈说：“银环是豫剧《朝阳沟》里的人物啊！”妈妈又对我说：“你走近点仔细观察一下，看看荆芥和芝麻有什么不一样。”哦！我又仔细看了看，果然有点不太一样，猛一看非常相似，但是它们的叶子有些不同，荆芥的叶子看起来细腻发亮，是翠绿色，芝麻的叶子看起来粗糙，而且是暗绿色。就这样，妈妈又领着我们一起认了很多的农作物：花生、玉米、大豆、高粱、谷子……

In summer I usually get up early in the morning to exercise. Raising my head, I see the vast space in the sky. There are fish scales clouds, cotton-like clouds, sheep like clouds and dark blue clouds like a lake. The clouds are moving silently, changing constantly in shape.

2008年5月12日下午上第一节课的时候，突然，地面晃动起来，吊灯也跟着摇晃。地震了！紧接着，广播里传出了大队辅导员的声音，让我们全校师生马上撤离教室，到操场上集合。

当天晚上，从新闻中知道我国四川省汶川县于下午2点28分发生了7。8级强大地震，波及到全国11个省市都有震感。一场突如其来的灾难降临。霎时，震中汶川及附近各县房倒楼塌，城市变成了一片废墟，公路、桥梁也被泥石流破坏。

国家总理温爷爷乘坐飞机及时赶往灾区，指挥部队马上进行救援行动。可怕的地震夺去许多人的生命，孩子失去了父母，成了孤儿，人们失去了亲人无家可归。一方有难，八方支援。全国各地积极地行动起来，捐款、捐物，支援灾区人民，我们学校也举行了捐款仪式，我们班的同学们积极踊跃，纷纷把自己的零花钱捐了起来，5元、10元、100元、200元…。短短的时间我们全校共捐款五万多元。这些钱虽然不多，尽我们的爱心来帮助灾区的人民。
