Protecting the Environment

With the improvement of our living standard, more and more people can afford a car. As a result, our roads are more often than not crammed with cars. However, with more and more waste gas being discharged by the cars, the problem of air pollution becomes even more serious. So nowadays we advocate to lead a low-carbon life.

Last summer, intolerable heat, so mom and Dad brought our family went to see the ice sculpture museum.

As soon as we walked into the ice sculpture museum, we felt the chill of the inside, and I knew it was only minus six degrees Celsius. Were just like going into a big fridge. Ice sculptures in the ice sculpture hall are lifelike. It stood the ancient "Four Beauties": Sha Shi, Mochizuki Pipa Wang Zhaojun, Diao Chan, Yang dancing, all lovingly pathetic. 现在才体会到大学四年时光是如此的宝贵，后悔自己当初没有好好珍惜。很难说每个人应该怎样安排自己的时间，因为每个人的情况都是不同的，只能根据自身的具体情况进行安排。大学四年以来，我遇到了一批很好的老师，我觉得在大学四年里可以好好地和老师进行沟通是一件很有收获的事情，老师们可以为你指点方向，可以减少你走弯路的机会。在大学课程安排上，我觉得我们数学与统计学院的安排还是比较合适的，在大一大二集中了较多课程，大三大四的课程则相对较少，这样可以给考研和找工作的同学都腾出更多的时间准备自己的事情。

大学四年来，我从来都不是一个人在前进，身边一直有几个同学一起在努力，一起进步。无论是直接保送，还是经过自己的奋斗最终考取，现在我们几个都上了研究生。当然环境并不是自然就有的，如果没有这样环境，一定要努力尝试去营造这样一种气氛，因为有几个人一起努力的话，大家的动力才会起来，这样可以达到事半功倍的效果。

在读书的过程中，我认为选择书籍是一件十分关键的事。多读一本没有价值的书就丧失了读一本有价值的书的时间和精力，所以必须慎重选择。走进一个图书馆，可以看到千本万木的书卷，但是其中真正能够称得上是“书”，值得去看的就不知道有没有十本百本了。只有真正适合你去读的书才能给予你较准确的知识，传播大学者治学的精神和方法，震撼你的心灵，促进你的思考。那该如何选书呢？各人有自己的方式。我看书先看文字，文字不好的就不读了，文字清楚思想才不会混乱。当然有些文字过于清楚的，内容又过于浅薄；有些文字不够清楚，内容却有深度，比如许多哲学著作就是如此。但以我现在的知识水平，要去读那些著作就有些费力了。若是仅仅看不懂倒还好，就怕把自己的思维搅混了，连以前有的一点浅薄认识也找不回来了。所以我选书的第一步依然是文字是否清楚。

选书最怕的是赶潮流。选书不比选衣，选衣赶潮流是时尚，选书赶潮流是傻子。当今的网络小说非常畅销，往往是街谈巷议，大家一窝蜂地去买；或是某某学生作家弃学从文，引得一干厌学的学生纷纷吹捧。这些个作者自身的文学修养也就是半桶水，加上这些读者的盲目去精取粗，也就不知利弊孰多孰少了。基本上那种所谓“人手一册”的书，我是绝对不会买的，当然有时借来当当“厕所文学”倒也不妨。往往在被忽略的角落里或许会有几本思想好文采佳的书。

选书最重要的是选适合自己的书。现在许多人选书一看新旧，非新书不看；二看名气，非近日广为宣传的书不看。弗朗茨曾说过“我从不读同时代作者的作品”。同时代作者作品中除了思想深邃、风格独特者外确没必要看。我总觉得这些所谓的青年或少年“文学家”多半是在发牢骚，无病呻吟。除了当时会产生一种“有同感”的想法，过后就什么也没留下了。

我最爱读的是古诗。要考验一木书是否是智慧之书，最可靠的试金石当然是时间。曾有一位老师说“现在那些所谓的文学作品，哪怕最好的，也可以在古文中找到相似的思想脉络”。古人的经典之作是经过时间的鉴定了，而今人的却有待考察。而在古文中，诗又是最耐读的。虽然诗极短，却常常一览不尽，使人百读不厌，是值得读的智慧之书。对于这些书自然是当反复诵读的。

读书是需要时间的，很多同学“忙”，忙交友，忙兼职，总是觉得没有时间读书。曾经我也因兼职等琐事耽误了读书，后来总是后海没有抓住读书的时机。毕业后就没有图书馆里众多书籍供我选择了，亦没有这么多时间来读书了，虽在工作之余能挤出些许时间，但终无学生时代的闲适心情。读书，还是得抓住时机。所以，在此敬告各位师弟师妹：切莫因琐事误了读书。

My Winter Holiday Plans Well, winter holiday is coming. So what I am going to do? 军训的日子虽苦，却像咖啡一样可以品尝出浓浓的滋味。我原先认为不行的，它却考验了我并告诉我要坚持到底，胜利终将属于有信念的人。每天的军姿站立，我知觉的时间已不在是时间，纵然两腿发酸却换得一身挺直。每次的坚持到底都会让我超越自己的感受。有过斜风细雨的洗淋却没有潮湿我火红的心，有过炎炎夏日的直射，却没有像晒黑皮肤一样，晒着我的执著。

也是军训让我体会到了军人的感受，他们放弃了家的温暖，亲人的怀抱。日日夜夜如熠熠闪耀在我们上空的云层之上。我已经没有理由抱怨生活的枯燥与乏味。因为有这样一个群体肩负着比我重十万倍的责任。因为有种生活比我艰苦十万倍。

军训只是逝去了我青春年华的一点点，但逐渐长达成熟的我更加渴望保有持久身的军训体验。军训磨练了我的意志，把我们的部分生活推到了极限，是我的精神随之焕然一新。它将会延伸到我人生的每个春夏与秋冬。军装最美丽，军歌最嘹亮，做军人最自豪，而军训的日子就像风雨过后的泥土，先辈洗刷，然后拙见沉淀直至溶入我生命的最底层。:

presently, a new lifestyle called low carbon life is spreading every corner of our country. the concepts of low carbon are low energy and no waste. it is such a significant project that i can’t wait to present my ideas on how to promote it.

on the first place, a no-car day is supposed to set up every week in our school. because cars not only cause serious air pollution but also waste energy. on no-car day, neither students nor teachers are allowed to drive to school. meanwhile, just walk, jump, cycle or run. use our legs and enjoy the fun.

on the second place, we had best not use plastic bags any more. no one can stand the “white pollution”. so, it is wise to use bags which can be reused again and again.

finally, one thing that we should keep in mind: every big thing comes from the subtle. therefore, as students, we ought to turn out the lights the moment we leave, turn off the tap in time, and reuse our textbook and so on.

all in all, it weighs greatly for all of us to put the low carbon lifestyle into practice. just set our mind to these: no-car day, no plastic bags, and no waste. let’s do it now.

todays society is a highly developed technological society. however, the shortcomings in the development process are obvious, such as: carbon dioxide, and environmental pollution. but the most serious should be the carbon dioxide problem.

now the problem of global warming because of excess emissions of greenhouse gases. excessive amount of carbon dioxide emissions, creating a diversified economy and la nina phenomena lag disorder. two levels of glaciers melting, polar animals lose their chance of

survival at the same time, will lead to rising sea levels, many coastal cities into the water did not result in a few years later. therefore, we must take the necessary measures to reduce the environmental impact of carbon dioxide. from for example: tree-planting activities, reduce fossil fuel use, we can from our own, to promote low-carbon living.

currently,my school is launching an activity whose theme is that actions change the world to advocate the low carbon living.

in the activity,we are required to go to school or some other place by bike or by foot as much as possible instead of by bus.and when the christmas comes,sending e-greeting cards instead of tridional cards of which are made of wood as we know.besides,we should use both sides of every piece of paper and we should save water as well as electricity.

i believe that only we do thus can we have a better living environment.

Dream

God puts dreams in our hearts. So, we must dream. We lose our sorrows and heartaches in dreams. And we live our fantasies in dreams. Some dreams are aborted while some come true.

Most mornings, Id sit by the Lake in my neighborhood just to witness the awesomeness of God; to be marveled at what Mother Nature is about to unfold... to shower us with her magnificence. The squirrels too gather by the edge of the Lake. The birds float effortlessly, circling the Lake in a beautiful ballet. The gators stand in awe. Yes, the gators! The leaves on the trees would suddenly stop their slow dance. Just like me, they are patiently awaiting for the grand entrance of the sun. The moon must go. Yes, the moon must go... to make room for the sun to rise. The sound of the gentle breeze is soothing, almost musical. I am filled with joy. I cannot describe the feeling of this awesomeness. Youd have to experience it to understand the feeling and joy of it. I know I am about to witness an amazing grace. So... I am silent. My spirit is at peace. The stage has been set. Behind those clouds, the sun awaits... waiting for the heavenly command. The ritual is in full bloom. Then I see a slice of sunlight, wafting through the clouds. Suddenly, the entire horizon is brightened, and the sun finally takes the center stage. Right there, I am still... humbled... to listen to God speak into my soul.
