1、信头(heading)

信头是指发信人的姓名(单位名称)、地址和日期，一般写在信纸的右上角。一般公函或商业信函的信纸上都印有单位或公司的名称、地址、电话号码等，因此就只需在信头下面的右边写上写信日期就可以了。

英文地址的写法与中文完全不同，地址的名称按从小到大的顺序：第一行写门牌号码和街名;第二行写县、市、省、州、邮编、国名;然后再写日期。标点符号一般在每一行的末尾都不用，但在每一行的之间，该用的还要用，例如在写日期的时候。

其中日期的写法，如1997年7月30日，英文为：july 30，1997(最为普遍);july 30th，1997;30th july，1997等。1997不可写成97。

2、信内地址(inside address)

其中在一般的社交信中，信内收信人的地址通常省略，但是在公务信函中不能。将收信人的姓名、地址等写在信头日期下方的左角上，要求与对信头的要求一样，不必再写日期。例如：

是写信人对收信人的称呼用语。位置在信内地址下方一、二行的地方，从该行的顶格写起，在称呼后面一般用逗号(英国式)，也可以用冒号(美国式)。

(1)写给亲人、亲戚和关系密切的朋友时，用dear或my dear再加上表示亲属关系的称呼或直称其名(这里指名字，不是姓氏)。例如：my dear father，dear tom等。

(2)写给公务上的信函用dear madam，dear sir或gentleman(gentlemen)。注意：dear纯属公务上往来的客气形式。gentlemen总是以复数形式出现，前不加dear，是dear sir的复数形式。

(3)写给收信人的信，也可用头衔、职位、职称、学位等再加姓氏或姓氏和名字。例如：dear prof. tim scales, dear dr.john smith。

4、正文(body of the letter)

位置在下面称呼语隔一行，是信的核心部分。因此要求正文层次分明、简单易懂。和中文信不同的是，正文中一般不用hello!(你好!)

正文有缩进式和齐头式两种。每段书信第一行的第一个字母稍微向右缩进些，通常以五个字母为宜，每段第二行从左面顶格写起，这就是缩进式。

但美国人写信各段落往往不用缩进式，用齐头式，即每一行都从左面顶格写起。商务信件大都采用齐头式的写法。

5、结束语(complimentary close)

在正文下面的一、二行处，从信纸的中间偏右处开始，第一个词开头要大写，句末用逗号。不同的对象，结束语的写法也不同。

(1)写给家人、亲戚，用your loving grandfather，lovingly yours，lovingly等;

(2)写给熟人、朋友，用yours cordially，yours affectionately等;

(3)写业务信函用truely yours(yours truely)，faithfully yours(yours faithfully)等;

(4)对上级、长辈用yours obediently(obediently yours)，yours respectfully(respectfully yours)等。

6、签名(signature)

低于结束语一至二行，从信纸中间偏右的地方开始，在结束语的正下方，在签完名字的下面还要有用打字机打出的名字，以便识别。职务、职称可打在名字的下面。当然，写给亲朋好友的信，就不必再打了。

7、附言(postscript)

如果一封信写完了，突然又想起遗漏的事情，这时用p.s.表示，再写上遗漏的话即可，要长话短说。通常在信末签名下面几行的左方，应于正文齐头。

注意：在正式的信函中，应避免使用附言。

8、附件(enclosure)

如果信件里面有附件，可在信纸的左下角，注上encl：或enc：，例如：encl：2 photos(内附两张照片)。如果福建附件不止一项，应写成encl：或encs。

我们有时可看到在称呼与正文之间有re：或subject：(事由)字样。一般在信纸的中间，也可与“称呼”对齐。还应在底下加横线，以引起读信人的注意，使收信人便于在读信之前就可了解信中的主要内容。事由一般在公务信函中使用，也可以省略。

Mr Shao taught me English when I was in Senior Three.With the bald head and hunchback, the fifty or some man distinguished himself from his counterparts in many ways.

He was so addicted to tobacco that he couldn`t even skip acigarette in the corridor at the interval between two classes. Due to the long time consumption of cigarettes, his teeth had gone totally bad and occasionally let off unpleasant smell which really disturbed us when we were talking to him. At times, he came to recognize it and consequently found out a solution. He suggested we write down our problems and he answer them in the written form. Although I knew all along that he was a careful man, his quotations of five different dictionaries on a single multiple choice problem was still beyond my wildest dream.

What`s more, none of us could imagine how excellent his ancient Chinese literature was. What he tended to do in his class was to recite several segments of the famous ancient prose and then put them into English.  However, under the pressure of College Entrance Exam, the students didn`t seem to be so interested in his performance.  Therefore, he tried to stimulate the class by editions of Times as prizes for answering questions. It worked on us instantly.

On the day of the entrance exam, he waited nervously with us out of the examination room.  He kept reminding us not to drink water in case that we would feel like going to toilet during the exam. Not withstanding his constant claims that we students were far less important than his beloved daughter, we did feel his devotion to us.

It is quite often seen that many students walk their pets on campus nowadays. For the owners, it is really good enjoyment and happiness. But for the other students, it may not so good. As more and more students bring their pets to campus, a cry for forbidding the pets brought to campus is higher and higher. For me, I think the owner shouldn’t take their cute pets on campus for the sake of clean.

Firstly, keeping pets in dormitory will make dormitory smell bad and cause noise pollution. Pets couldn’t go to toilet and flush their waste as human does, so they just urine everywhere, which makes the place smelly. Besides, pets can make lots of noisy which is annoying especially at night. For other students who live with the owner, it is absolutely a disaster for they have to suffering from both the terrible smell and the disturbing noise.

高中时，老师经常向我们说的就是清华、北大，再或者就是浙大、南大，走道楼梯间的墙壁上贴的也是这些学校的宣传画。因此，我想象中的大学应该是这样的：宁静的林荫道上，偶遇温文儒雅的教授，碰撞风采飞扬的青春，恍若与世隔绝;古雅的图书馆里，安静明亮的书面，晒满轻扬的尘土;澄静的湖水幌过眼角的阳光，美丽的女大学生白衣掠过，恋爱的回忆和幻想像水浸的味道;鸢尾花瓣泄满石板登，谁在读诗，谁在拨弄吉他弦??应该是这样如诗如画一般的生活，十分让人向往。虽然偶尔听人说大学不过如此，但我想那个说的人一定是吃不到葡萄说葡萄酸，或者在很差的学校读书。就这样怀着对大学的美好憧憬，我进入了高考考场，最终拿到了武汉理工大学的录取通知书，虽然不是十大名校，但也是重点大学，所以心情还是十分激动的，毕竟我们那里考上重点大学的也不多。大学，一个令我们心驰神往的地方;大学，一个象征我们成人的地方，我们喜欢这个名字，喜欢它的一切。

就这样，怀揣着录取通知书，我踏上了去学校的旅程。由于是第一次出远门，一路上紧跟着父亲，在火车上我又在想学校会是怎么样。就这样想着想着睡着了，直到父亲叫醒我要我提行李下车。出了火车站已经是下午三点了，天气阴沉沉的，好像要下雨了，我环顾四周，原来这就是武汉啊。由于第二天才是正式报到时间，所以我和父亲在外面旅馆住了一晚。晚上父亲对我说要我在学校努力学习，学会做人做事等等。想到进入一个新环境，想到明天父亲就回家了，想到我一个人在陌生的环境里，我心里很不是滋味，对他的话只是点头答应，默不作声，然后早早睡了。

第二天是正式报到的日子，天气也很好，进入报名处，我看到许多胸前挂着牌子的学长、学姐，我想他们应该就是学生会的成员了，看着他们热情洋溢的笑容和自信的表现，我十分羡慕。在他们的指引下，我顺利地办好了入学手续，住进入了升升公寓。安排好一切后，父亲要乘车回家了，我又一次体会到高中入学时父亲为我安排好一切然后要回家而我却又十分舍不得父亲走的那种强烈的的感觉，那时我还故意找事拖一下父亲，但这次我不会了，虽然这是一个全新的环境，虽然要半年才能回次家，我知道自己已经成人了，这些是早晚要面对的。送走父亲，坐在床上，我知道，我的大学生活开始了??

大一是最丰富多彩的。首先是军训，那时有太多太多的心绪在心里充溢，老朋友在远方，新的朋友还在萌芽，当一个人需要有人分享情感的时候，孤独感会被夸大，于是渴望友谊。来自五湖四海的同学通过它逐渐互相认识，在训练中互相帮助慢慢建立新的友谊，每个人开始展露自己，凸显出自己的各种能力。我由于从小就十分内向，所以军训当中很不显眼，我知道我要慢慢改变自己，使自己更加自信，具备应有的各种能力和品质。所以我报名参加了一些协会，希望能提高自己的综合素质。在填写特长时，我感觉自己没什么特别擅长的就觉得惭愧。我有时十分羡慕那些城里的孩子从小学习各种乐器或参加各种培训，然后懂得很多。但我知道，要对自己有信心。

平时生活也是很简单的，比如由于没买电脑，大家要上网就去网吧，虽然有人玩得比较久，但大都很有节制，我喜欢在寝室听收音机，晚上熄灯后一起听笑话和鬼故事，后还会互相讲述自己家乡的风土人情，仿佛一起遨游了大半个中国。那些商店的老板见到我们一眼就认出来我们是大一新生，我们问为什么，他会说这还不简单，只有大一新生才会一起逛商店，那些高年级的要么和女朋友，要么独自一人，很少像你们这样一起的。这时我才发觉谈恋爱在高中简直就是禁忌，但大学确实再普通不过的事情。

对大多数人来说大一都还延续了高中的一些习惯。我也同样是的，每天按时上课时上课，上晚自习，问老师和同学题目，互相讨论等等。大学的学习于高中最大的不同就是高中有老师监督而大学没有，虽然有的老师比较严格但绝对不会像高中老师那样成天督促我们。大学课堂是很随便，比如同学可以随意进出教室而不像老师打招呼，课堂上不想听可以睡觉或看其他书，只要不打扰其他人。至于考试，大家都还是很认真对待的，即使平时上课不认真的同学，在考试快来时也都认真复习了，基本上没有谁作弊，因为大家都认为监考老师会像高中老师那样抓到作弊就严重处罚。

周围同学有的开始沉迷于网络，经常玩游戏到很晚，我就因为他们玩游戏太吵而换了次寝室，其实我很不想。上课出勤率也明显开始降低，那些不去上课的同学也不是不爱学习，只是对所学专业不感兴趣，不想去听，而且我感觉有的课程也确实是开设的不合理。比如计算机体系结构，老师说本来是应该学了操作系统等课程后再来学得，但大二就开设了，完全颠倒了顺序，所以学起来很吃力。这样，到了考试的时候，就不像大一那样都认真复习了，因为有时出的题改变很小，甚至原题目直接出出来，改都不改，所以只要弄到前两届的试卷把上面的题目都做会，那就能过了。至于一些概念性的东西，有的就开始做小抄。我想自己不能这样，不然太对不起父母，于是依然认真复习，终于获得了“十大学习之星”和“校优秀学生干部”，并获得了校一等奖学金。

进入大三，课程主要是专业课了，平时照样还是去上课，但基本上是想学的就来上课，不想学的有的就放弃了，我知道他们并不是不爱学习，只是对专业不感兴趣，又不知道怎么办而很迷茫所以靠上网来打发时间。看见学风日下，班委也作出过努力，但大家都是成年人了，很多时候不像小孩子那样容易管，只能劝说，但这样收效甚微。至于考试就基本没什么意义了，不是对所学知识的真正考验，很让人痛心，所以我也不那么看重分数，而是平时到底学了多少。平时上课我最不想看到的就是老师没有激情，对现实感觉很无奈的样子。但我周围还是有很多我值得学习的榜样，学习上他们很努力，动手能力很强，经常拿奖学金，生活中热情洋溢，工作中综合素质很高。

回望已逝的三年大学光阴，不禁感慨万千，高中时我知道我还未成年，父母还会保护我，但现在我就知道我长大了，不可能再有谁在你前面为你遮挡那些风雨，自己要做自己心灵疲惫的港湾。风雨中，父母那一双双期望的眼神是我最大的动力!总之，大学生活可以很轻松，也可以很沉重，可以很单调，也可以很丰富，可以很舒畅，也可以很痛心?他就像一坛五味醋，我从中尝出了酸甜苦辣咸甚至更多，并获得了很多感悟，这些所得将作为我人生的宝贵财富，让我以后的道路走得更加坚实有力。

How to adapt youself to college life

There are obvious differences between high school life and college life. First,college students will live in the dormitory with classmates who come from various places, and who may have different living habits. Second,college teachers ,instead of explaning in detail how to solve every problem, might only tell different approaches to the problem, and leave students to study and solve problems independently. Finally, in college,there is more free time for students to spend on.

However how should the college freshman adapt himself to these differeces. First of all, he should learn to be tolerant and consider more for others,which is necessary for group living. Moreover he should take active part in collective activities and make more communication with classmates and teachers. It will help he be smoothly integrated with your new environment. Besides,as to study,he should develop a good habit of self-teaching and learn to arrange study independently. Of course,it may take a freshman some while to become accustomed to the study and life in college. However, we all have to accept constant challenges of new things in our life. To conclude,college students should try to adapt himself to college life as soon as possible, so as to take full advantages of their precious college time.

Miss Hou is my university English teacher. Her English name is Jenny. She looks so weak that a strong wind may blow her away. She is not too tall, about 150cm. She is experiened of English teaching. She teaches me for three years.In the other word, she is the only English teacher during my high school study. She is special. She will show an English song to us before her class. A few days later, she will ask us to follow the singing on the tape. I can still remember some songs she taught us. It is strang that she looks so weak, but no one in my class will against her word. I think maybe is because her own personality.Everyone respects her. She is serious in work, so that our whole class’s English is good. Happily, she is our friend after class. She always palys badminton  with us. She is also ready to help us if we have any difficultiy. In my mind, a good teacher is more than a million books. And she will be my mentor forever. Jenny, my teacher, I love you.

Nowadays peoples life develops quite rapidly. Many things have changed

over the last century. Old buildings are relaced by skyscrapers. Telephone,

air-conditioner, TV, digital camera, computer and the Internet have taken their

place in our life. We have stepped into Information Age. We are always enjoying

the newest digital products. With all these hi-tech products, people are leading

a more and more colorful life. They are enjoying life more than ever in their

spare time. They can watch movies, surf the Internet, take a holiday and so on.

How different the present life is from the previous one when people couldnt

even feed themselves. Whats more, it differs a lot as well in transportation.

Various modern means of transpot have taken the place of human feet and horses.

People can take aeroplanes, subways, even maglevs and so on. They offer people

much convenience. That is to say, people neednt feel worried for wasting a

great deal of time travelling any more. However, while people are enjoying the

changes caused by hi-tech, something still remains the same. For example, those

traditional customs and festivals, especially the custom that people gather to

have dinner as well as ethical culture forms like Peking Opera, ancient

architecture and traditional food. Peking Opera is spreading throughout. As to

ancient architecture like Siheyuan and Hutong, people are still preserving them

well as the symbol of the whole nationalitys historical culture. As for

traditional food, people are still used to eating it. Even though the world has

been extremely highly developed and there are many foreign cultures are pouring

into China, traditional food is still the mainstream. So, I think, although

those hi-tech products bring along unprecedented creature comfort, traditional

cultures will stay unchanged and they will develop further. And on the original

basis, it must creat miracles one after another, because it belongs to the souls

of our Chinese nationality.

Depending on personal experience, personality type and emotional concern,

we find that some people hold the idea of living in the country, while others

prefer living in the city. In my opinion, I prefer the city life, though it has

advantages and disadvantages.

First of all, city life is very colorful. City is the center of the

surrounding area. So, it is also the most booming place having the best things.

There are many great things and wonderful activities in the city, while there

isn’t in the country. For example, there are KFC, wonderful shopping mall,

delicious food from various places, dancing club, different kinds of activities

and so on. We can also learn the culture from all the countries. Despite city

life is so wonderful, it still has many disadvantages. Nowadays, with the

improvement of people’s living standard, people have more cars and more people

come to city, and then the city becomes more and more crowd. As a result,

traffic jam emerges, which makes great inconvenience for people to go out.

What’s worse, the air pollution becomes serious day by day, which is bad for

people’s health.

To sum up, every coin has two sides. Living in the city also has good side

and bad aspect. Whether like living in city or not depends on individual

thinking. As myself, I like living in city though I know the disadvantage of

living in city.

Since I was at school, I have heard a lot about college. A boy near my

house is in college now, every time I meet him, I will ask him how he feels

about campus life, he smiles and tells me many funny things.The ideal college

has been built in my mind. There is beautiful trees and flours, boys and girls

talk and walk happily, they share things together, students and teachers discuss

course. In the lake, some students talk to foreigners, what an enjoyable

situation. In order to go to my ideal college, I must work hard.

Recently, the phenomenon of students pursue famous brands has become the focus of the public concern.They always do anything in order to buy what they want. What has caused this problem?It is no easy/simple task to offer the reason for this phenomenon which involves more than one complicated factor.

There are two aspects reason as follows. On the one hand,with the development of the economy/society/people’s living standard, we can afford the articles of luxury. On the other hand,the mind of rivalry is the most important reason.The topic of the famous brands is the main idea among the students, they think a famous brand is a symbol of sophistication and taste.

To change this situation, I suggest that college school students should cultivate positive values and look at things in a proper way.Although brand is the best way to show their status,we shouldn’t pursuit brand blindly.students ought to pay much attention to their studies.

We will never forget our freshman year at college. In general it is a time filled with anticipation, some anxiety, and wonderful discoveries.

College is much different than high school. You may decide to commute from your home to a local campus. Without doubt, the most dramatic freshman year is for those living away from home. What can we expect as we head off into the wonderful world of higher education?

The first thing I notice is the workload. It is heavier and more intense than I ever experienced before. The major challenges of college work are large volume of reading, short deadlines, and “endless” writing. A related effect that can be brought on by the workload is doubt, frustration, and loneliness if possible.

On some of those long, seemingly endless nights of studying and writing, it will be very natural for me to long for fine old days. Hang in there. These down periods will pass.

I have made a lot of new friends. I am sure college friendships will be among the most satisfying and long-term in my life. Its always exciting to discover how wonderfully diverse college relationships can be.

I am enjoying my newfound freedom. Stay up until dawn talking about my ideals and ambitions with my dorms regular bull session buddies. Sleep in until the afternoon on a light class day. Explore the local town or suburbs with one or two of my new friends.

I even start to think about my future. Going to college is as much about finding out who am I as it is about getting the degree.
