Error Correction, as the 1st section of Written Part of NMET, mainly tests the mastery of the use of words and grammar of English. The understanding of the given text is course important to the performance.

There are 10 numbered lines, each of which may have one mistake. You have to decide firstly whether there is a mistake or not. If not, put a tick in the numbered blank. If there is a mistake, you may have to add a word, cross out a word, or change word. You have to find out the mistakes in the use of words and/or grammar. Sometimes there may be a logic problem, which would be the most difficult.

Last time I got 7 points less than expected. Why? I didn’t put the answers strictly following the rule, although I did know how to do it.

三、书面表达应试要领

1. 第一步是仔细审题。重点注意内容要点，写作对象和交际目的。

2. 要写草稿，实在没时间也要写一个提纲。

3. 确定好时态。转述别人观点常用现在时。记叙经常发生的事用一般现在时，描写过去发生的事用过去时。

4. 不出现中文，不用汉语拼音。不生造中国式的英语。要用你听过的话来说，用你读过的句子来写。

5. 第一句很重要，不要轻易下笔。尾句部分容易出错，要留意。

6. 为防止遗漏内容要点，可在原题上标出记号。

7. 几个必要的连词一定要用，或顺接、或转折、或让步、或比较。

8. 写记叙文，注意六个要素：who, where, when, why, how and the result.

The courses have brought many benefits to people. Many of the courses are provided by universities in foreign countries, and thus offer fresh ideas to us. Through them, we can keep up with what people are thinking all over the world. But that can also be a problem. The drought can be cause by several factors. Firstly, about 63 percent of cities in China are facing water scarcity. The situation is worsened by pollution and industrialization. In addition, too many trees have been cut down, so forest coverage has been decreasing rapidly. Whats more, some water conservation projects havent been functioning properly, thus people there have had to rely more heavily on rainfall for their water supply. Most of Chinas irrigation systems are very old.

In order to prevent this case coming about again, we should improve our awareness of saving water, making proper use of water and recycling water. Meanwhile, we ought to plant more trees and protect environment to prevent loss of water and soil erosion.
