Here is a difference between science and technology.Science is a method of

answering theoretical questions; technology is a method of solving practical

problems. Science has to do with discovering the facts and relationships between

observable phenomena in nature and with establishing theories that serve to

organize these facts and relationships; technology has to do with

tools,techniques, and procedures for implementing the findings of science.

Another distinction between science and technology has to do with the

progress in each. Progress in science excludes the human factor. Scientists, who

seek to comprehend the universe and know the truth with the highest degree of

accuracy and certainty, cannot pay heed to their own or other peoples likes or

dislikes, or to popular ideas about the fitness of things. What scientists

discover may shock or anger people--as did Darwins theory of evolution. But

even an unpleasant truth is more than likely to be useful; besides, we have the

option of refusing to believe it! But hardly so with technology;we do not have

the option of refusing to hear the sonic boom produced by a supersonic

aircraft-flying overhead; we do not have the option of refusing to breathe

polluted air. Unlike science, progress in technology must be our slave and not

the reverse. The legitimate purpose of technology is to serve peopie--people in

general, not merely some people; and future generations, not merely those who

presently wish to gain advantage for themselves.

We are all familiar with the abuses of technology. Many people blame

technology itself for widespread pollution, resource depletion and even social

decay in general--so much so that the promise of technology is obscured. That

promise is a cleaner and healthier world. If wise applications of science and

technology do not lead to a better world, what else will?

我家有一只小狗，名字叫做金毛，它就是我过生日时母亲送我的礼物，我可喜爱它啦!

金毛全身长满了金黄的毛，像披了一件毛长大衣，威风凛凛。伸出手摸摸那毛，觉得十分光洁，好像在摸妈妈的长头发，舒适无比!一双乌黑发光的双眼嵌在眼窝里，像二颗黑宝石。二只三角形的耳朵里面，有时候竖在脑壳上，像2个小雷达探测在接受数据信号;有时候耷拉着，像在脑壳上打过二块补丁。它的鼻部湿漉漉的，好像饮水的情况下把鼻部打湿了，又好像伸着舌头有意把鼻部舔湿的。

金毛平常一动不动趴到大门口，好像一个十分尽职的护卫。有些人来啦，它就走回来闻味道，如果是了解的，就不断地摇着小尾巴，不认识的呢?就把小尾巴竖得很高，还“汪汪”地叫着。每一次出来散散步，它跑得可欢了，脚底像抹了油一样，我还追不上它。

我家的小狗很有意思。有一次，我跟它去玩球，我装作将球扔了出来，它便竖着耳朵里面飞快地跑出去找寻。东找找、西看一下，结果没有寻找球，便气喘吁吁地跑到我的身旁，见到球仍在我的手里，我正开怀大笑，它了解自身上当了，冲着我“汪汪”叫，好像在说：“讨厌你，欺负我。”从那时起，它就再也不上我的当上。

这就是我家的金毛，十分有意思的小狗狗，只需一有时间，我也逗它玩!
