the icd had its origin in the world conference for the wellbeing of children in geneva, switzerland in 1925. it is not clear as to why june 1 was chosen as the icd: one theory has it that the chinese consul-general in san francisco (usa) gathered a number of chinese orphans to celebrate the dragon boat festival in 1925, which happened to be on june 1 that year, and also coincided with the conference in geneva.

In the park, some children are flying kites, some are playing football, and some are playing a game.In the sky,there are a lot of kites.But there is only once a year we will have this happy festival.I think Children‘s Day is the most important holiday for the children.Because everybody has fun on that day!

儿童节

六月一日的一天，所有的孩子都很快乐。在那一天，我们不上学。大多数孩子会去公园。在公园里，一些孩子在放风筝，有的在踢足球，有的在玩游戏。在天空中，有很多的风筝。但只有一年一次，我们将这个快乐的节日。我认为儿童节是孩子们最重要的节日。因为大家都在那天有乐趣！

I arranged a few people to bomb them with balloons， and we stood in a line. when those people were about to be bombed， we rushed. unexpectedly， this plan was really successful， and they were unprepared. we bombed them and flew them all the time， but what I didnt know was that they had an ambush. we fled straight away. suddenly， I found that we were all carrying ribbons with us， and we took them out， turned defeat into victory， and spewed them out. they also had no choice but to " surrender".

This June 1st childrens day is very unusual， and I look forward to the coming of the next June 1st childrens day!

Today is Childrens Day.My father takes me to the zoo.There are many kinds of animals,the tigers, the pandas,the lions, the elephants,the giraffes and the bears.

They are different from each other ,some are shy, some are beautiful, some are interesting , some are friendly, some are so cute. But i think these animals are unhappy, they should live in the forest,because the life in the zoo are different from that in the forest.

为了悼念全世界所有在战争中死难的儿童，反对虐杀和毒害儿童，保障儿童权利以及改善儿童的生活，国际民主妇女联合会举行会议决定以每年的6月1日为国际儿童节。

To mourn the deaths of children that were massacred and poisoned during the wars as well as to help protect children’s rights to improve children’s lives; The Women’s International Democratic Federation assembled to name June 1st of each year as the International Children’s Day.

此次大会之后，一方面为了鼓励儿童，让儿童感到幸福、快乐，另一方面也为引起社会重视与爱护，各国都先后规定了儿童节，不同国家甚至会有不同的儿童节日期，庆祝儿童节的习俗和方式有所不同。

After the Federation’s first assembly, countries around the world established its own version of Children’s Day. The motivation of Children’s Day is to encourage children to live happy lives and raise social awareness. Children’s Day of countries around the world is held on different dates and the customs incelebration also varies from country to country.

新中国成立后，在儿童节这一天，学校一般会组织相关的集体活动，并要求学生正式着装，比如统一穿校服，而家庭庆祝方式多以送玩具或礼物给小朋友，或陪小孩外出吃大餐或游玩。

After the establishment of the New China in 1949, schools began to organize group activities on Children’s Day and require students to dress in formal attire. One example of this is to have the children wear school uniforms. Families celebrate Children’s Day by giving toys or presents to children. Often times families will get together for feasts or other family outings.
