Because you are not for them. You are for the children. Children who need some

magic in a world where the borders between innocence and responsibility, playful

imagination and cold, adult obstacles are continually shrinking.

This is what Id like to ask you to help with. A little more time for

children to be children. Stretch the moment of magic and playfulness. Distract

them from the realities of a world gone mad so that they can laugh with their

breath rather than sob with their tears. Especially those caring for family

members, or suffering illness, hunger or poverty. Especially those hiding in

buildings as bombs rain down, or being handed shaking with fear or cold into a

boat to escape environmental disaster or war. Please help to light up their

worlds with a moment of joy and hope.

When I think about it youve got it tough this year... And when I really

think about it Im not sure that asking you for a lightsaber and getting one

(not that I ever did by the way) is equatable with controlling the space time

continuum and making the good of childhood last a little longer.

But you do inspire wonder and awe amongst those that write you letters and

go to sleep hoping there might be a new object in their possession come dawn.

You inspire good behaviour and, at least in my memory, some desperate last

minute attempts to redeem bad behaviour so as not to be overlooked. Spare a

thought too for those millions who want to write to you but through illiteracy

cant. Hear their words and help to give them the time and chance to learn how

to read and write so they can better their lives and escape their impoverished

beginnings.

I feel a little sorry for you. And I guess Ive done exactly what I said I

wouldnt... Asked you to help with adult problems and solve some of the greatest

worries we have for our children. I promise to leave some extra port and mince

pies for you!

我独自走在空旷的小路上，茸茸的雪花不知趣的打在我的脸上，北风在我耳边肆虐着，连昔日挺拔的白杨，也弯着腰痛苦地呻吟，回想起刚发生的事，我就愤愤不己。

母亲为了给我准备充足的学费，年年都去乌鲁木齐打工。她每天踏着晨雾，在纺织车间迎来旭日东升，又踏着夕阳，送走了多少个火红的夕阳西下。一天就这样站着连续干十几个小时，心里还得专心致志地不停地数转数、拨花。稍有分心，就会织错，必须返工，直到织对为止。这样一干就是几个月。母亲的生活单调而有规律：吃饭、睡觉、干活，她就在这年年岁岁的风雨轮替中，和着纺纱机器的节奏，奏响了我生命拔节的乐章。

我把脚放到了地上，使劲的把全身的力气都用来使车子前进，我本想妈妈会表扬我，却没想到妈妈有些生气的转过头来对我说：“你这是干什么？这样很浪费电的，快把脚拿上去，安心的座着！”，我接着说：“怎么浪费了？要是有电你还能退吗？”妈妈一时语塞，不过几秒钟之后，妈妈又语无伦次地说道：“呃……现在还有一点电，让妈妈推着不是很累，不过载不动我们两个人的，所以……快把脚拿上去，老老实实的坐着！”

我一听很生气，便丝毫不犹豫的把脚放在了踏板，再也没有了什么动作，我心想：“给你帮忙你还嫌，我也不轻松，还不如舒舒服服的坐着呢！”于是，我便黯然的坐在了后座上，等着妈妈辛苦地推着我走完了后面的路程。

现在回想起来，我真是惭愧，那么容易识破的谎言，我都没有去揭穿，妈妈的爱，是用自己的语言和行动，即使被误解，也去坚持让子女得到幸福，即使自己辛苦的站在烈日下大汗淋漓，也要给儿女一片充足的绿茵，让我们听着母亲的谎言，载着母亲的爱，健康成长吧！

我有一个顽皮的弟弟，我总认为他站在坏孩子那边，总是与他吵吵闹闹，你看啊！他左半边脸上的伤痕，就是我留给他童年的礼物。但是，他对我撒过两次谎，让我骄傲……

那天，我们起床晚了，怕上学迟到，便拿了两盒方便面让弟弟泡；我洗漱完毕，弟弟告诉我面好了，让我去吃。我拿起塑料叉，“咻咻”几下吃完了；吃完后我发现，我吃了不止五个虾圈，我对弟弟说：“我吃了好多虾圈哦。”弟弟说：“是我给你的，我不喜欢吃。”

第二次谎是在这个暑假。我拿出1·5元让弟弟去买两个冰激凌；他买回来了，问：“有一块的、有五角的，你要哪个？”我说我要五角的，他递给我一只红豆的，自己吃奶油布丁雪糕。嗯，好爽啊！“好吃吗？”弟弟舔了舔舌头问。“我的是五角的，你是一元的，干嘛望着我？”我问，他转身跑开了；我感到奇怪，于是跑到小卖部问阿姨；阿姨说，红豆的是一块的，布丁雪糕五角。我的心轰的一下，为他感到骄傲。

看着他，我的弟弟，一天天长大，像一颗小树苗茁壮成长。想起他的两次谎，我真为他骄傲。他，我的弟弟。

一年级时，数学课上到一半，我突然想上厕所。看到龙老师上课那么投入，我不敢打扰老师，举起的手又放了下去。就坐在位置上，等着下课铃声。龙老师讲的什么，我一句也没听进去。

“叮铃铃”，似乎等了一万年的下课铃终于打响了。老师一说下课，我立马以百米冲刺的速度跑向厕所。刚看到一个空位置，正准备脱裤子时，实在憋不住了，我尿裤子了。我的心情失落到了极点。我好后悔没坚持最后几秒钟，这样子同学一定会嘲笑我的。怎么办呀？心想：只能去找班主任夏老师了。我正好看到同学袁一禾，我把事情告诉了她，让她陪我去夏老师办公室。没想到一禾一路上大声地喊道：“陈思睿尿裤子啦！……”我连忙拉拉她衣角，示意让她别说，而一禾却没有停下来的意思。结果走廊上的人都把目光集中在我身上，这时，我恨不得找个地洞钻进去。一禾一路喊到办公室。夏老师走过来，温和地问我：“陈思睿，怎么啦？”我刚想开口，一禾抢着说：“陈思睿尿裤子啦！”面对夏老师，我更加难堪了。

夏老师听完后，要一禾回教室，立马掏出手机说：“你爸爸的电话是多少？告诉我。”我吞吞吐吐地告诉了夏老师。夏老师打完电话说：“别急，你爸爸马上就送裤子来。”见我情绪还不稳定，温柔地对我说：“以后上课要上厕所就举手，不要等下课再去。没事，别不好意思，夏老师十二岁还尿过裤子呢！”听完夏老师的这番话，原本尴尬的我平静了下来。

回家后，妈妈笑我上一年级了还尿裤子。我连忙反驳：“这有什么稀奇的，夏老师说她十二岁还尿过裤子呢！”妈妈说：“傻孩子，夏老师安慰你才这么说的，她是为了不让你难堪。”我当时对妈妈说的话半信半疑。

现在，我十岁了。再也没有尿过裤子了。我终于明白的夏老师的良苦用心。夏老师用一句善意的谎言巧妙地化解了我的尴尬。谢谢您，夏老师！师恩难忘！

Thanks for your last letter. Im so glad that you have been able (at last! ) to arrange a holiday in Australia. As I fear I wont be able to meet you at the airport when you arrive, nor will I be able to be home until later in the afternoon, so here are some instructions and suggestions.

There is a bus from the airport to the city. It is much cheaper than a cab. Take the bus to the city and ask to get off at Town Hall railway station.

To get to my place in the eastern suburbs you have three options. You can either take a cab, a bus or the train. I suggest you take the train, since the airport bus will leave you right at the station. Get off at Cliff Station. From there you can either walk to my place (about ten minutes) or take a taxi. Probably you should take a taxi as you will have luggage.

When you arrive at my flat, ring the intercom for Flat 2. My friend Lillian will be at home and she will open the front door for you and let you into my flat.

Presumably you will be tired and want to sleep. But if you feel like some exercise after that long flight, you could stroll down to Cooper Park, which is only ten minutes away ? you can see it from the window.

Gulangyu — A fairyland in the world

Gulangyu is a small island of Xiamen. It’s like a garden on the water. Cars and buses are not allowed to drive there, which makes the island so quiet that music played on the piano and violin can be heard.
