It was a very busy evening, I was doing my homework at my home. My father

was writing a composition in the study room. My mother was interested in

Shanghai opera. She was watching a Shanghai opera contest. The apartment was

very quiet. Suddenly the light went out. It was a blackout, but I liked it very

much. It came and I didnt have to do my homework. We went to the living room

very slowly.

After 5 minutes, we all sat in the sofa. It was a lucky, fortunate day. I

said that lets held a concert. My parents agreed with me. I took out some

candles and lighted up. We were singing, laughing and talking. We had a really

Last month I went to Beijing to visit one of my friends, because we haven’t seen each other for about two years and I got a holiday meanwhile. October 28 Friday Sunny

Last week something terrible took place in our class:one of our classmates Xiao Li, fell down the stairs of our classroom building. He got badly hurt. He had to stay in hospital for a long time. How unfortunate he was!

So this afternoon all our classmates and our teacher, Mr Yan, were going to the fields to help Xiao Li s family gather the grain.

After lunch we set out. It was a long way from our school to Xiao Li s home. It took us half an hour to get there by bike.

Then we walked to the fields, bent down and began to work. Some of us worked very quickly though some had never done any farming work before. Time went by quickly and we knocked off about 4 o clock.

Qingming Festival, also known as Pure Brightness Festival or Tomb-sweeping Day, is one of the 24 segments of the Chinese calendar. Once, during Wens 19 years of exile, they had no food and Jie prepared some meat soup for Wen. Wen enjoyed it a lot and wondered where Jie had obtained the soup. It turned out Jie had cut a piece of meat from his own thigh to make the soup. Wen was so moved he promised to reward him one day. However, Jie was not the type of person who sought rewards. Instead, he just wanted to help Wen to return to Jin to become king.

Once Wen became duke, Jie resigned and stayed away from him. Duke Wen rewarded the people who helped him in the decades, but for some reason he forgot to reward Jie, who by then had moved into the forest with his mother. Duke Wen went to the forest, but could not find Jie. Heeding suggestions from his officials, Duke Wen ordered men to set the forest on fire to force out Jie. However, Jie died in the fire. Feeling remorseful, Duke Wen ordered three days without fire to honour Jies memory. The county where Jie died is still called Jiexiu (介休, literally "the place Jie rests forever").

After morning’s class, we couldn’t help rushing to the cafeteria. It always

brought us coolness. The food was so-so, but the home-cooking is much delicious.

When we almost finished eating, I suddenly saw a familiar face——our foreign

teacher Nick. A girl was sitting beside him. They were talking over lunch. I at

once told my friends Sandy and Jenny about it. We were so excited. I slowed my
