After a long cold winter when I have rarely been out on my bike, the weather has finally turned warmer and even sunny occasionally. Yesterday I had a surprise call from Tom suggesting we turn out for a short ride. This being my intention anyway I gladly agreed and we met up at Jiedaokou Station at about ten o’clock.

As Tom has a permanent Sunday Lunch appointment at 12-30pm we opted to make a round trip to Hannan . The weather was cloudy but dry and as we were both a bit out of condition after a long winter lay off we took the easy option of taking the train to Shiyan to get us on top of the ridge with an easy start for the trip.

A long coast down to Jiangtan and straight on to Mount End saw us climbing up to Zhongshan Park. The climb got stiffer but still Tom kept on riding. Gritting my teeth I followed on and crested the hill, Then the usual Essex switchback with an enforced short walk for both of us part way along saw us at Tawny common. Round the common we went, to the Mole Trap, an erstwhile rough old country pub now tarted up for the motorists. I don’t go in there any more, so we sat on the adjacent public seat for a while and a short natter.

Time enough to break away, Tom to his lunch appointment, me for home by way of theYellow Crane Tower and Changjiang Bridge. See you in a while, crocodile! I arrived home about 2 o’clock. Just in time for my own Sunday lunch .

i kept a diary every day. besides doing farm work， i help the children in the neighborhood with their lessons. all of them showed interest in english. they could read write wellthey could hardly understand simple english. so every day in the morning i spent about two hours helping them improve their listening spoken english. they all made great progress. their parents all thought highly of me. i now realize that knowledge is very needed in the countryside.

My name is Beth. Im 14 years old, and I study in No. 1 Middle School of

Hangzhou. My school is very big and beautiful. Im very happy in the school.

I usually get up at 6:15 in the morning. Then I do morning exercises in the

playground. At 6:40, I have my breakfast. You can see many students and teachers

in the dinning room. After breakfast, I often read English with my

classmates.

We have six classes every day. The first class begins at 7:50 am. I like

all the classes for my teachers can make the classes lively and interesting. My

favorite subject is English, so I join English Corner every week. I can speak

English with many other students there. Its very interesting and exciting. I

think its helpful for me to learn English well. After class, I always play

games with my friends. We play soccer ball,basketball, volleyball, ping-pong and

我是一个长的又瘦又高，被全班称为“智慧之星”的一个小男孩，我在东莞市黄冈理想学校就读。

我非常马虎，老妈给我取了个外号：“小马虎”。有一次，一道数学题，答案明应该是469，可我的眼睛好似脱窗了一样，居然不慌神地写成了964，回家后，老妈上来就是劈头盖脸一顿骂，差那么1分就满分了！我真是马虎啊！

我也是很爱乐于助人的。有一次，我看到一个小朋友在学校里跑来跑去，我就问他：“小弟弟，你要去哪呀？”小弟弟说“我要去2（1）班，可是……找不到！”我听过他的话，就牵着他的手去2（1）班了。到了的时候，他还不忘记说：“哥哥再见！”。所以，在我帮助别人的同时，别人也会帮助我。

When the national entrance examination is over, people always pay more

attention to those who are enrolled by colleges and universities. Those who

failed the examination are treated coldly. Being enrolled by colleges and

universities is, of course, worth congratulating. But giving the successful

candidates excessive praise and neglecting those who failed the examination

might send the wrong message: young people do not have a bright future unless

they go to college or university.

Teachers, parents and society, therefore, should give more attention to

students failing the examination. They are in more urgent need of understanding,

warmth and encouragement. We should tell them that to go to college is not the

only way to success, and that, if they make enough effort, they can still

develop talents in other occupations that will serve society.

Personally, the country’s economic development requires not only

specialized scientists and technical experts, but also knowledge-based workers

and skilled laborers. After some vocational training, these senior high school

风吹着船一路前行，过了一会儿，风停了，船在河里不动了，留给船夫无限惊慌与懊悔，此后他也许只能随波逐流或等待下一个渺茫的救助……

生命犹如一条奔流不息的河，我们都是过河的人。可以依赖风，可以依赖水，但掌舵的应是我们自己，任何时候都要开辟自己的路，过分依赖他人会让我们失去自我，甚至失去创造奇迹的能力。

身躯瘦小的寄居蟹寄居在岸边的浅水里，大海每次涨潮都会带给它们一点食物，于是只要有定期的潮水，它们就赖在岸边不回大海。生活总处在饱一顿饥一顿的状态，寄居蟹因此很难长大。枯水期它们会拼命爬回大海，最终也能成长为很大的海蟹。依靠外力的协助，可以带给我们意想不到的收获或是解决问题的便捷，但个人的努力是生命意义的本源，“自助”永远是实现自我的不二法门。正如热心于慈善事业的爱尔兰富商布鲁斯南对其家乡人的帮助，三千万美元的捐助之后家乡人民依旧清贫，当他停止了捐助之后，却在五年后欣喜地看到家乡人因种植山果而致富的场景。

生命都具有让其丰满的能力，具有创造奇迹的力量，这种力量潜藏于内心深处，我们只有在自己開辟道路的时候，不断地叩问与发现，才会让这种伟大的力量喷薄而出，从而赋予我们一世灵光。父母对孩子的溺爱，也许正是对孩子的毁灭。可曾见过翩跹飞舞的蝴蝶，在阳光下它的双翅那么雄健！那是在破茧而出的时候，它用尽了一生的力气将体液挤往双翅。“白玉不毁，孰为珪璋。”古人虽已远去，但言犹在耳。

拳王泰森的恩师达马托为泰森建造了一座精神小屋，他为泰森制定了详细的训练计划，晚上师生之间还要进行心灵的交流，帮助泰森划定他的交友圈。当达马托溘然长逝以后，失去了精神小屋的泰森迷失了生活的方向，锒铛入狱。正如风吹着船前行，一路扬帆直航，但当风停以后，船因没有方向、船夫没有船桨而搁浅或碰触暗礁。

他人的帮助只能解决一时的问题，却帮不了我们一生。自我定位，走出自己的路。自助进而自强，我们才能达到梦想的彼岸。
