他出生在湖南一个贫困的山区，家境贫寒。那时，日本鬼子的铁蹄已经踏遍了湖南、湖北大片地区。他的爷爷、爸爸、哥哥和刚刚出生不久的弟弟也都相继去世。后来，连雷锋的母亲也因为受不住地主的欺凌而悬梁自尽。雷锋不满七岁就成了一个孤儿，可是，谁又会想到，就是这样一个多灾多难的孤儿，将来会成为人们争相学习的榜样呢?

他接送小同学过河上学，护送迷路的陌生人回家。他积攒牙膏皮为灾区捐款，自己用的牙刷却都是别人用过后扔掉的。他的袜子是“新三年，旧三年，缝缝补补又三年”。他去卫生所看病的路上看到小学校正在修楼，他也上去帮忙。他每个月的津贴除了买一些必备的生活用品和书外，其余的全部捐给了灾区。他热忱为人民服务，群众都对他赞誉有加。

他还酷爱学习，每天看书到深夜;没有灯，他就借停车场的灯光看书。他为人民做了很多很多，但他总是这样说：“是伟大的党把我救出苦海，我的所作所为都是我应该做的，是为人民服务的，我还做得不够……”

雷锋是一位伟大的共产主义战士。他在其短暂一生中所体现出来的爱国、爱党、爱人民的坚定信念，刻苦钻研的钉子精神，全心全意为人民服务的崇高品质，助人为乐、无私奉献的高尚情操，艰苦奋斗、忘我工作的优良作风，给人留下了宝贵的精神财富，产生了重大而深远的影响。

他的故事带领我们跨越历史的时空，去感受它带给我们的感动。让我们在他的故事中得到心灵的洗礼，思想的升华。
