农历五月初五，是我国传统的端午节，又称重五、端阳、端午节。早在周朝有“五月五日，蓄兰而沐”的习俗。这天，家家户户吃粽子，南方各地举行龙舟大赛。人们在这天还要悬菖蒲、洒雄黄水、挂艾枝、喝雄黄酒，杀菌防病。传说端午节源于屈原。他是楚王的大臣，他倡导富国强兵，联齐抗秦，遭到反对，被流放。公元前278年，秦军攻破楚国，屈原悲愤，写下了绝笔之作《怀沙》后，投汨罗江身亡。他死后，有人打捞他的身体，有人投饭团，后来怕饭团被蛟龙吞食，用栏叶抱起饭团，投下汨罗江，这成为今天的粽子。

我家也有过端午节的习俗呢!因为要吃粽子，所以妈妈要包粽子。首先把糯米用欗叶包成一个三角形，角要尖，然后放入3-4颗大红枣，用欗叶裹紧，系上五彩绳，一个粽子做好了。妈妈一个个地做着，汗水无声的落着，终于，把粽子都做好了。接着开始煮粽子，一般要煮一、两个小时才会又香又糯。粽子煮好了，我迫不及待地打开锅盖，阵阵粽香向我袭来，我尝了一口，啊多么美味的粽子啊!这是妈妈用辛劳的汗水为我制作的美食，我永远都不能忘怀。这是我家的端午节!
