这本书讲了古巴的一个名叫桑地亚哥的老渔夫，独自一个人出海打鱼，在一无所获的84天之后钓到了一条无比巨大的马林鱼。这是老人从来没见过也没听说过的比他的船还长两英尺的一条大鱼。鱼大劲也大，拖着小船漂流了整整两天两夜，老人在这两天两夜中经历了从未经受的艰难考验，终于把大鱼刺死，拴在船头。然而这时却遇上了鲨鱼，老人与鲨鱼进行了殊死搏斗，结果大马林鱼被鲨鱼吃光了，老人最后拖回家的只剩下一副光秃秃的鱼骨架。

读完这篇小说，我发现，老人的故事不仅象征着人与自然的关系，而且象征着整个人类坚不可摧的精神。在现实中，他虽然失败了，但在精神上，他却是胜利者。在这里，老人不仅仅是代表着一个人，而是代表了一股力量，一种精神，那是让人敬佩的坚韧不拔，永不服输的精神。我也十分佩服小说中老渔夫的意志,他让我懂得了一个人一定要坚强，不能遇到一点挫折就败退，这样永远也做不成一件事。

《麦琪的礼物》是欧·亨利写的一篇非常有趣的作品，它主要讲述了圣诞节的前一天，住在公寓里的贫穷的一对夫妻给对方一个惊喜，可是她身上只有一元八角七分，她知道这一点钱不能买什么好的礼物给自己的丈夫，于是他把自己那美秀长如瀑布般的秀发剪了下来，给卖了，换了20元美元。吉姆也想给自己的老婆一个惊喜，于是也把自己名贵的手表给买了，德拉找遍了各家商店，花了最便宜的21美元，终于买了一条朴素的白色表链，吉姆买到了德拉梦寐以求的全套漂亮的梳子作为圣诞礼物。

从这本书我知道了，虽然表面上这对夫妻极不明智的为对方牺牲自己心爱的东西，给对方买东西，但我深深的明白了，因为他们彼此爱着对方，肯为对方牺牲自己最爱的东西，给彼此买东西，可是双方买了自己的东西，不适合对方的礼物了，而对方做的这件事都是为了彼此着想，没有考虑自己，还是非常非常的爱着对方，才会这样的结局。

我还知道，我们要懂得去爱对方，不能只为自己想，要关心别人，这样别人也会爱你的，正是要爱，人与人之间才会了解对方，人与人之间才有温情。与动物之间我们也会更加友好的。

我相信只有大家心中有着爱，我们的世界会更加的友好会更加的温馨快乐的!

That’s the brief plot of Harry Gilbert’s science fiction—。 Based on the reality of increasing environmental problems, the writer uses his full imagination and creativity to produce this vivid imaginative and thought-provoking story.

As far as we know, animal numbers are now diminishing all over the world every years, and the living conditions we depend on a getting worse. We dirty the air with gases and smoke, poison the water with chemicals and other substances and damage the soil with too many fertilizers and pesticides. We also pollute our surroundings in many other ways. Air, water and soil are all very important and necessary to the survival of all living things all over the world. If we human don’t pay more attention to that, there will come a day when we have to live the kind of life described in this novel. As we know, the world is made up not only of human beings but also a lot of other living things. If we don’t want to leave this perfect planet, we have to protect the environment; otherwise, without the company of other living things, people would only be half-alive, men only half-men.

Nowadays, I should say, people have realized the importance of environmental protection and ecological balance. Slogans that remind us to save water and electricity are stuck everywhere, but how many are treated as requirements or duties and not just a piece of paper. If we pay a little attention to our working and study places, we always find some taps half opened with running water, and large numbers of people get used to leave lights on during the day. Dustbins for both recycled and unredeemable rubbish are placed in high density but no one bothers to throw the rubbish into the right dustbins. Nor do they even know what kind of rubbish could be recycled and what kind could not.

Conservation centers for protecting animals are built in many countries. Our government also passed some acts to protect animals; however, there do exist some law-breakers who are driven by money. We plant trees very year, but no one bothers to water and care for them after planting them. For money, some farmers drive their sheep and cattle to grasslands and charge it into desert.

All in all, to every one, I want to say, “Living on this wonderful planet earth, we are lucky and happy. In order to enjoy this kind of wonderful life, we must care for mother earth and put this kind of care into practice.”

Christmas morning, mother put three pieces of beautiful gifts in my bed, Santa Claus, tabour, star bar.

Santa Claus has a white beard. He is wearing a red dress and a cute little red cap. He stands on a big lychee and he also writes "marrychristmas" in English. A sparkling drum can use two sticks to my drum. What I like most is the magic star stick, with a star glittering and a bright bar below. This reminds me of Cinderellas old ladys star stick, a wave of pumpkin, a horse drawn carriage, a wave of rats, and a new wave of Cinderellas ragged clothes. Do you say the stars are fantastic? Im so happy with a star stick. When I go to bed, it can make a lot of things I like.

说到这，我不禁想起了中学英语课本上的一篇文章：题目大概叫《PREZENT》(当时背得滚瓜乱熟)，是从美国著名作家欧?亨利的短篇小说《麦琪的礼物》节选的。故事大致内容是：德拉为了给丈夫心爱的金表配上一副精巧的表链，忍痛卖掉自己一头美丽的头发。那美丽的头发披散在身上，像一股褐色的小瀑布，奔泻闪亮，丈夫吉姆非常喜爱妻子这头美丽的褐发。他深知爱妻为了装扮头发对百老汇路上一家商店橱窗里陈列的玳瑁发梳渴望已久。为了在圣诞前夕给爱妻赠送玳瑁发梳作为有价值的麦琪的礼物，吉姆也忍痛卖掉了三代祖传的金表。德拉的美发和吉姆的金表，是这个贫穷家庭中唯一引为自豪的珍贵财产。为了对爱人表示深挚的爱，他们在圣诞之夜失去了这两件最珍贵的财产，换来了已无金表与之匹配的表链和已无美发借之装扮的发梳。瞬间的欢乐付出了昂贵的代价，而随之而来的无疑是深深的痛苦。

买鲜花，还是猪蹄?这是一个问题。要幺就来个鲜花+猪蹄儿，或者也把手表卖了给她买把梳子，哈哈。

Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions. Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century.

In “Pride and Prejudice”， the sister of Mr. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind. A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We can’t help thinking: can money determine everything?

Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”， her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

他们的生活贫穷，但吉姆和德拉各自拥有一样极珍贵的宝物——吉姆祖传的一块金表就算“地下室堆满金银财宝、所罗门王又是守门人的话，每当吉姆飘过那儿，准会摸出金表，好让那所罗门王忌妒得吹胡子瞪眼睛”;德拉一头秀丽的瀑布般的秀发则能够“使那巴示女王的珍珠宝贝黔然失色”。

为了能在圣诞节送给对方一件礼物，吉姆卖掉了他的金表为德拉买了一套“纯玳瑁做的，边上镶着珠宝”的梳子;德拉卖掉了自己的长发为吉姆买了一条白金表链。头次明白这个文章的时候是在收音机里听到的。那时候年纪很小收听的时候没有什么感觉，只是有个困惑让我百思不得其解，为什么小说里面的主人公表带和梳子都买不起直到之后看到原著才明白那是镶满宝石的梳子和白金的表带。当时电台选用这个小说播放也是为了当时的政治需要，好让我们感受到社会主义的温暖资本阶级社会的丑恶，当然了这些都是长大以后才慢慢明白的。自从接触到这个原作之后，这个小说就一向伴随着我。时不时的拿出来温习下里面的情节，故事虽小但是处处闪烁着人性的光辉，温暖亲情、至爱、忠贞。在艰难困苦环境下一对相爱相依的夫妻，用自己最珍惜的东西去换取对方所心爱的礼物。

故事虽说是有些杯具性的色彩但是烘托出来的却是比万金更要贵重的人与人之间的关爱。在文章当中作者并没有进行什么说教评论式的叙述，而是对周围环境的细致刻画及其家庭状况的详细描述，使之人物呼之欲出，仿佛这样的事情就发生在我们身边的城市。古语云：患难时刻见真情。纵观我们当今的环境名利当头，人与人之间的冷漠，事不关己高高挂起，完全以利益为重。道德、亲情、感情被金钱冲散的支离破碎。为了利益与金钱夫妻分道扬镳，兄弟反目，朋友相互猜疑，仿佛只有功利才是第一位的。

而目前评判一个人的价值成功与否，都是以他拥有多少的财富与地位的高低挂钩。无论这个人的心地多么的善良已经无关轻重，以貌取人成为了我们衡量一个人的标准。中国自古以来的谦卑、道德准则至于脑后。人们有时看到公共场合的不端作为竟已然无动于衷，处处充满了麻木。反而对出现的一些拥有奉献精神的行为嗤之以鼻，到达了劣币逐良的程度。正如柏杨及其鲁迅先生所说这个社会就是一个大染缸，任何一种异质的文化到了这个大染缸里就失去了原先的本性。而然这篇文章却能时时唤起人们内心的本善，使之能够让人还能够体会到世间真情的祥和与温暖，主导的人性并不是尔虞我诈，见利忘意。正如诺贝尔奖获得者特雷莎修女所说：“我们常常无法做伟大的事，但我们能够用伟大的爱去做些小事。”

"让我来爱，直到受伤."我们每个人就应发扬自己奉献的爱心，去关爱世人让这个世间变的更加完美。

This book is simply wonderful. The tales involved are tales of the Persian Gulf, of Bagdhad, Arabia, and tales that we as adults should revisit for some enjoyable light reading that will make us smile and wonder at the old folklore of the Arabian Peninsula.

Sinbad the Sailor is in there, as is Aladdin in its original form, and the story begins of a king who is so upset by his wifes unfaithfulness that he will now only accept virgins for one night and then have them killed. A smart virgin begins her night with the infamous king by telling him stories, and she so fascinates him and enthralls him with her tales that the tales turn into folklore for readers of the ages. I wont tell you what happens in the end to the virgin princess, but you will find humor, enchantment, wisdom and fantasy for those times when stress becomes a factor in your life.

I highly recommend the tale of "The Historic Fart" as a both funny and inspiring tale of human nature. Please buy this book and remember to become a nine -12 year old again as you read with curiosity and wonder at the fabulous enchanting, lively stories. I was beginning to wish my children were a bit younger so I could read these to them. Any child would enjoy these stories, and any adult will find them simply relaxing and a reflection of medieval Islam.

一直以来，喜欢读杂志类图书的我，看文章都是走马观花，看到哪一篇感兴趣了，才会细细读完。会细细把这篇文章读完，是因为作者的第一句引言“当你看到这样一条彩练，你也会想起老蜘蛛。”没什么想象力的我实在难以把蜘蛛与彩练联系起来。

The author pays homage to Hans Christian Andersen‘s compassionate tale with this faithful adaptation. Kids can relate to the duckling‘s dilemma; part of the growing-up proceis pulling away from those around you and developing a strong sense of self. Children have also witnessed or experienced the teasing that is part and parcel of childhood.

This agelestory speaks acrogenerations with its reaffirming message. In this age of instant gratification, Andersen‘s tale reminds readers that some things are worth waiting for and that a pleasure deferred (whether by choice or necessity) is often the sweetest one of all.

Pinkney‘s descriptive passages resonate with the splendor of nature‘s beauty. The glowing watercolors, filled with intricate details, make each blade of gravisible, and the delicately drawn, nearly transparent mosquitoes are as ethereal as they are in life. The subtle details incorporated into the scenes--a frog catching a passing fly at the pond and a tiny mouse perched by a crate in the old woman‘s cottage--make children take another look.

One day he heard a sound of whirring wings, and up in the air he saw a flock of birds flying high. They were as bright as the snow that had fallen during the night, and their long necks were stretched southward. Oh, if only he could go with them! But what sort of companion could he be to those beautiful beings?

‘I am too ugly even for a dog to eat,‘ the duckling thought. Jerry Pinkney‘s poignant text and rich artwork convey the timeleappeal of this tale of hardship and redemption. Anyone who has suffered the sting of ostracism can sympathize with the ugly duckling‘s plight and will relish the uplifting conclusion.

可是在失去价值的背后我却看到了他们是无限爱着对方，爱着这个家的，让我觉得，这个寒冷的平安夜因为他们的礼物变成了温暖的天堂。如果德拉只拿着一块八毛七分去挑礼物的话，想必故事就少那种震撼力，读者也就少了许多思考。

在这个物欲横流的社会里，人们往往会用金钱去衡量礼物，当你看到那些大包大包精致包装的礼品时，见到的除了空虚还有什么?父母因在生日收到我们简易的贺卡而开心，因寥寥数语的祝福而欣慰。就是这样的礼物，简单而真实，比不上那些许多金钱所堆砌，华丽所勾勒出的礼品，却是天下最聪明的礼物!但从某种意义上说，它是无价之宝。

因为，它是麦琪的礼物。

I have seen the novels name --the Kite Runner many times from the Internet,when it comes to "the novels moved you most".With curiosity,I downloaded it.When reading the novel,from the beginning to the end,I felt a heavy stone of sorrow on my heart.

It is a story about friendship,about fault and atonement,about the good and evil of human natual.

The narrator of the story,Amir ,is born in a rich family.Hassan is his servant as well as close friend.They both lose mother from birth and grow up like brothers.

From Hassan ,I see the most kind and beautiful soul.He never means to hurt anyone.he protects Amir bravely and has a broad mind to endure what Amir do to him.With the promise to run the kite,he hands the last cut kite to Amir though he has insulted by the bully,Assef. for lifetime,he cherishes the friendship,even he dies of protecting Amirs house."For you,a thousand times over"he does as he says…

If Hassan can be described as an angel, then Amir is just a person.when he is a boy,he is badly want fathers love and care.he will be jealous,he will fear and be cowardly.When he sees Hassan insulted by Assef,he is so scared that he only hides and watches.he sees what happened but keeps it as a secret.In order to escape the guilt,he makes another fault, making Hassan leave by framing Hassan .Years past, he is still haunted by betraying his childhood friend.

I was shocked when the big secret reveals: Hassan is Amirs half brother,the son of his father and a sevants wife! Amirs father lives a torturing life,he is torn into two parts.He cant give Hassan the love in the name of a father,which is unfair to Hassan.That explains why he seems care little about Amir …

Knowing the truth,Amir has a painful struggle at the first,and finally chooses the right way,a way of atonement.He rescues Hassans orphan ,Sorhab,from Assefs hand.At that time,he faces up to Assefs fists,being a man not cowardly.Having gone though a lot of difficulties,he finally brings Sorhab to American.But Sorhab is emotional damaged by adversity.Amir make efforts to revive the little heart.At the end of the story,Sorhab shows a lopside smile,which delights Amir much.Amir run kite for Hassans son,and says what Hassan once said,"for you, a thousand times over".The snow will be melt,and the spring is coming…The ending is not clearly told,but full of hope.

I like the author written style.Theres paragraghs of internal monologues,warm memorys , sad plots,horrible war scenes…the words,sentences always catch me tightly,make me think,make me cry…Now if someone ask me what novels impressed me most,The Kite Runner will be an answer.

It is the first time I have seen a novel in English.It is hard for me to insist on reading as there are so many words I have to look up.But it really benefit me in some way.
